Alysia is amazing! I have been going to her for more than 6 years now, and never have I been disappointed. She takes all the time you need to reach the results you want. This being said from the woman with crazy out of control, ugly curls, who now have beautiful, smooth straight hair that requires nothing more than a little blow dry to look perfect. The shop is warm and inviting, and she goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable. The straightening process can be a bit 'smelly', but she always has a fan going and you have a mask available for you to use. I can't say enough good things about her! read more

After reading the reviews from the only 2 people who had negative comments I had to write my own. I had Alysia do my hair 2 times and she is amazing. I could not get in last time and went to a place she reccommended if the times might help me out. But I sure wish I had waited (I could not due to a trip I was going on, but still...). She is so good at what she does and my hair is always in great shape after a treatment. Of course it smells, of course she holds the appointment with payment, she is popular and does not want to let an appointment go unpaid. I am super grateful I found her. read more

Kaitlyn was amazing!! Exceeded my expectations! She was super thorough and very thoughtful.

If you want a permanent or semi-permanent straightening treatment, this is the place to go. The woman who runs this business was an honors chemistry major and she really knows what she's doing (although it is a little unnerving having someone that smart analyzing dinky hair problems). Moreover she takes the chemical exposure issues more seriously than I've ever seen--she wears a ventilator and offers you one, too. She gave me a keratin treatment aka Brazilian blow-out and it lasted so much longer than the other one I had at another salon. read more

LOVE Alysia! If you have considered having a keratin treatment, look no further! My hair has been transformed from a scary, crazy, frizzy mess (think finger in a light socket...) to beautiful, straight, bouncy hair. It has even retained all of its natural body! I was nervous, but it was the best investment that I have ever made, and will continue to make! read more

I went to her after seeing all these 5-star reviews but was disappointed. Her place is really small and dark, which doesn't really matter but what got to me were the fumes. It made me nauseous. And she just kept talking on and on (except when she had the mask on) which didn't help with the nausea. Afterwards, I followed ALL of her instructions and even got the proper shampoo but the results were not good at all. It was still frizzy and curly. But there were some good points: She is very nice. She is very knowledgeable. My hair wasn't damaged. It was easier to straighten my hair with hot iron at home (kind of defeated purpose of the straightening process.....). I've had my hair done before by someone else and it had actually lasted a couple of months and looked good! So I know it can be done. I just haven't found someone to do it in Portland yet. So my search still continues...... read more

You are literally out of your mind not to get your hair straightened here. Her prices are amazing but it's her knowledge thats off the chart. She has tried every brand of keratin out there, knows all the complications that can occur and can answer every question you have and does a fantastic job. My mother, daughter and friend all have their hair done here. Her space may seem unique (workspace building in SE) but the girl knows how to do hair. I almost hate posting this here because she's getting harder to get into, but I wanted to spread the good karma. Alysia rocks. read more

I was there a few weeks ago, and Alysia did a fabulous job. I've had keratin treatments in other cities, and by far, she made the experience the most pleasant. NO fumes with her equipment. My hair came out great. She's the pro at keratin and I'm going to go back when it's time. read more

I had my first ever appointment with Alysia a month ago. This was my first keratin treatment, and I'm hooked. I had a lot of questions and, she took the time to explain the whole process to me. My hair is softer, shinier and so much easier to manage. I am definitely going back! read more

I can't recommend Unsprung Salon and Alysia enough! I've gotten a keratin type treatment from a few other salons because I moved away from Portland, but none have been as good as Unsprung! Her location is a bit of a drive away from the downtown Portland area but it is worth it! She knows what she is doing when it comes to hair straightening. My hair usually stays very curl and frizz free for at least three months after going to Alysia, and although the curl does start to come back eventually it stays frizz free for like five months. When I didn't live in Porltand I got a brazillian blowout from a salon that not only cost more than Alysia but was barely effective. All in all Unsprung offers amazing quality hair straightening treatments at a very reasonable price. I will definitely re-visit her salon whenever I find myself back in Portland. read more

Alysia is the absolute best in Portland for this treatment! I am in the beauty industry and know a lot of stylists who offer this treatment and I am convinced she is the best. She is very smart and passionate about what she does. Her studio is adorable and I feel so relaxed in her space. She has really done her research and spent time making sure her product, ventilation system, and process are the very best. I will go to her as long as she's in this business! Oh and this treatment has absolutely changed my life... My hair is one of my favorite things about myself now, when before I could barely stand to look at it. read more

I've been going to Unsprung for keratin treatments for about a year. Alysia is super nice and very knowledgeable. My hair is naturally thick, curly, and frizz-prone. Before my first treatment she let me know that it was unlikely my hair would come out perfectly straight because of how much curl I had. My hair turned out much straighter than either of us anticipated and my first treatment lasted about 3 months. I'm now on my third treatment and it has lasted much longer than the previous ones; after three months my hair is still completely straight. The price is really reasonable and I have probably saved as much in product and maintenance as I've spent on straightening. I love my new low maintenance hair and would recommend Unsprung to anyone considering a keratin treatment. read more

Thank you SO much Alysia! I've been putting up with frizzy, high-maintenance hair for years - I either put it in a bun or under a baseball cap. Want fun, silky-soft, smooth hair by just simply blow-drying it? Call Alysha at Unsprung and get a top-of-the-line Keratin treatment. What a pro - she's amazing and obviously very experienced! She has a beautiful salon that's easy to find and close to downtown Portland. Take the leap and call Alysha - you won't regret it! Cheers! read more

I have been seeing Alysia for over 14 years now. I started with her doing the Yuko straightening system and have over time migrated to the keratin treatments. I moved out of state for a year and had my hair "straightened" and when I came back to see Alysia, she took one look at my hair and told me I had the "bends. She advised me to let it grow out completely and then come back and see her. Since that experience, she's my girl. I trust no one else with my hair. Not only is Alysia kind and friendly, she is so knowledgable and is always researching new systems. I have referred countless people to her over the years and everyone loves her as much as I do. read more

Do not waste your time and money on this place. She will charge you prior to your appointment and then will give your appointment to someone else. The place is small and difficult to find because there are no signs. I have been doing the keratin treatment for 7 years now and I have never had such a disastrous experience! Absolutely unacceptable! read more

Alysia is fantastic! She's does a great job on my hair every time. Her new salon is so beautiful and she's a lot of fun to chat with. Very knowledgeable, honest and funny. I always look forward to seeing her. Highly recommend! read more
