Our condominium hired this company to relocate our intercom system that was located inside the building to outside. We've had issues with people breaking into our mailboxes and homeless people sleeping inside the building. Wildly inconsistent results. Had a positive experience a few months back with a Yale smart lock install, which required drilling a new deadbolt into a metal door. Quite happy with that! However, I just had them come back to do the same job on another door, and got someone different. This installer completely butchered my door (see photo), hammering an ugly dent into an otherwise new condo door to inset the lock (without running this "solution" by me first). The lock technically works, but door no longer closes smoothly -- and no amount of paint is going to cover up that hideous dent If you have high standards or looking for quality craftsmanship, better look elsewhere. ETA: Tomer called and offered to refund us, which I really appreciate. If you're going to use this company, deal directly with Tomer, who is competent and honest, NOT Pete. Earlier review: This company charged us $509 after assuring me it would take under an hour and only cost $220, AND they broke something and had to come back another day to fix it (which meant someone had to be home at a time that was inconvenient for us). When I contacted this company for a quote, I asked for a flat rate. Pete told me that the job would take under an hour, so the total would be $220 plus tax. It ended up costing us extra time because they broke something AND it cost TWICE what we were told. I originally gave this company 5 stars because Tomer, the head electrician, is very knowledgeable and, when he came the second time to fix what the first electrician had broken, he told me the first guy should have easily spotted another problem that he missed, and, to his credit, he repaired this at no extra cost. However, after I wrote that review, Pete sent us a bill for twice what he told me the cost would be. This is after they broke something AND missed an obvious electrical issue! The techs they send out barely speak English, and the little they speak is usually rude. Completely disrupted our medical office during the last install. I would have let this go, but recently things got really unprofessional. We had a small balance remaining from the last time lock and tech worked on our cameras. Completely forgot about it, and I believe we only received a couple emails to our company's general catch all email account, where they got buried. So, yesterday I begin receiving calls from some goon named "Dave". Dave threatened me and yelled at on me on my voicemail. I called the main office and settled up on our past due balance -500 dollars... our company spends that much on potato chips for staff in a month break. Not a big cost to us, no one was trying to "beat" them out of money. Dave called my cell 12 MORE times with more threats, AFTER I paid them. Do yourself a favor. I found these guys through yelp. We had to replace the intercom system in our 89 unit apartment building. Gabriel came to our building to show our super all the options for an intercom. We ended up going with an ABB system. Gabriel was well prepared, followed up, worked with us on terms. His technicians were professional. They stuck to the schedule we outlined. They were the only company to offer a service contract on our project covering parts and labor. I have zero complaints. They did an outstanding job. We had Vinny give us a quote on two different systems and we choose to go with the ABB Welcome video and audio intercom to upgrade our old buggy analog system into the current century ) We installed 6 internal stations, 1 outdoor main station with camera with two new door strikes. The guys did an awesome job and I knew within 20 minutes of being on-site we made the right choice when in the first apartment they used a 'mini vac' to suck up the dust as they were drilling the holes for the new station template. Its only been in a month so I cant give a long term overview of the ABB Welcome system but so far haven't had a single issue so no reason to think the Lock and Tech guys wont be there to support it if we do have a problem. Selecting a vendor for specialized work is always anxiety-ridden. I contacted Lock & Tech regarding an electrical matter in my home; the circuits kept tripping whenever we used appliances simultaneously in the kitchen- like the toaster oven and dishwasher. This was inconvenient, but frustrating because a few years ago I had the electricity system upgraded with dedicated lines for the air conditioners. The price quote was what everyone else mentions in their reviews- not cheap at over $200/hour, but what seems to be market rate. Everyone likes to save a few bucks, but typically you get what you pay for and cutting corners may leave you without recourse if something doesn't go right. In any case, the technician, Tomer, arrived on time. I knew he was great because my cat loved him and followed him around the house. He assessed the problem and explained the plan of action. There was no pressure to proceed, and I was looking at over $1000 worth of work. He also fixed a pull chain on a ceiling fan. The cost was over $200 for less than 1 hour work, but they did not nickel& dime me over the cost for materials to fux the fan, which I estimated to be fair. It turned out I was right: The air conditioner was plugged into the wrong outlet, the dedicated line hiding behind a desk. Tomer called and told me about this. He offered to proceed anyway should I wish, but didn't feel it was be necessary. His due diligence and honesty saved me a few hundred dollars. The subsequent over payment of the deposit was promptly refunded within a few days. This company is customer-oriented and provide exceptional service. Sure, you could use joe from the supermarket flyer and save a few dollars,but reliability, expertise, and good service are worth the extra cost. read more

Haven't found a good solid Intercom repair company in a while, so i googled and found these guys. when I first called he said they charge by the hour, which I really don't like cause sometimes they just lolly gaggle or if the tech is incompetent. but these gusy showed up, saw the job , whereas I was orginally thinking about running new wires, but they said it was not necessary and found my old wires in the wall and save us time, from having to run new wiring and drilling holes and material. they got me back up and running much quicker than I thought... SHADY AF. When I locked myself out of my apartment earlier this evening, I was apprehensive about calling a locksmith because let's be honest, they don't have the most professional reputation, especially in NYC, which is filled with con artists looking to take advantage of people who have no choice but to shell out cash when they need to get back into their building. However, I called Lock and Tech because they gave me the cheapest estimate ($75) and I needed to get inside ASAP. First, the person who answered the phone took down the wrong phone number for me which delayed the technician. Okay, honest mistake. However, it got much worse. Two technicians arrived, briefly "inspected" my lock (tapped it with a screw driver), and told me it was impossible for them to open it without breaking the lock (even though my building is brand new which at first they said would make it easy to open), and therefore the absolute minimum cost would be $300. Hold up. That's $225 more than the estimated price. Fortunately I was able to get in touch with my super who told me he could come let me in. When I informed the technicians that I did not accept their quote and did not need their services, they demanded I pay them $50 before they would leave my building. That quickly dropped to $30, followed by them offering to open the door for only $75, followed by a standoff in my hallway in which they loudly wanted to know how much I thought was "fair" to compensate them for their time. I told them they didn't perform any services for me so I didn't need to compensate them at all---that's their employer's responsibility--but that their boss was welcome to send me a bill and I could take the issue up directly with him. They didn't like that. I then had to escort them out of my building because they wouldn't leave on their own after me asking them to leave multiple times. If they stood in my hallway a minute longer I would have called the police. The only good thing to come out of this experience is I now feel like even more of a bonafide New Yorker. read more

I contacted Lock and Tech regarding the installation/wiring for a new phone/intercom system, 2 door boxes, 10 data jacks, patch panel, Ethernet switch, electric door strike and new deadbolt for a new office. We needed everything installed ASAP. As soon as Vinny got on the phone I was impressed with his professional demeanor. He assured me this was something Lock and Tech could accomplish and within the time frame required. He said Igor would get back to me to arrange a time/date to survey the space. Igor got back to me in less than an hour and we scheduled a date. When Igor arrived, he asked all the pertinent questions, quickly grasping the scope of the job. Straight away I could tell this guy was on the ball, down to earth and was not about to upsell me an unnecessary complex system. When he left I felt confident that he understood what we needed and how best to accomplish it. Later that day Vinny sent me a proposal; the price was very competitive. Lock and Tech even re-arranged their schedule to accommodate our installation the following week (actually it was less than a week). On the day of installation, four guys came, and, like a skillfully choreographed dance routine, laid out the plans for the wiring, etc. and begin the installation. Because the space did not have dropped ceilings nor open walls, everything had to be concealed with wire molding. We were particularly concerned re: aesthetics, but when the job was finished we were very pleased with how great it looked. To limit conspicuous wire mold, wherever possible, they fished the wiring thru walls. The gentlemen were very courteous and their work was precise and neat. We received estimates from several other companies but only one other claimed they could perform the entire job; some said they could do the intercom, but not the phones, others said they could do the wiring but not the locks/electric strike (I would have to hire a separate locksmith). When Lock and Tech said they could do everything I was a bit concerned that perhaps they were just another "Jack of all trades, master of none," but boy, watching these guys work allayed any concerns; they demonstrated to be masters at all of their work. There was a discrepancy in the number of data jacks that were supposed to be installed, partially an error on my behalf and partially Lock & Tech's. Either way, all was worked out in the end. Unfortunately the phone system could not be fully tested on the day of installation b/c the cable modem was defective. The following week Optimum came to replace the modem, but even after the replacement, the phone system was not working. I called Igor and he said he would come to fix it that day. In LESS than 2 hours, Igor was at the door and had us up and running within 15 minutes. Throughout the entire process communication with both Igor and Vinny was excellent. We always felt like our job was given top priority. When I had questions regarding the job or equipment specs, they replied promptly to both my texts and emails.
