Unfortunately, the drinks were extremely over-priced. After paying $9 per drink for a captain coke and a vodka soda, (most expensive drinks we found all the way from Cleveland to Lake Placid) we hit the c-store and sat at the hotel instead. Steer clear unless you like to overpay.

I had always been scared to go to the Happen Inn, as it's in the basement and one can't see much of it from the street. There aren't a lot of options in Little Falls, so we decided to take a chance and are thrilled that we did. The staff was really friendly and the other people in the bar didn't stare at us (like some local people do). There's a pool table and lots of tv's. It's light enough to not be sketchy, but not too bright. There was also jukebox music playing, but it wasn't so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves talk. They have lots of beer options and cheap prices. The food was also delicious (if cooked on a visible, greasy stove) and inexpensive. We had a steak quesadilla that easily weighed five pounds, full of cheese, steak, fresh mushrooms and griled onions, and a thick burger, topped with onion petals, cheese and sauce. They have daily specials and an interesting bar top. If you have to be in Little Falls, this is the place to go.

They have classic arcade games like pinball & galaga, but they also have the newer games like buck hunter & a beer pong machine. The food is top notch, I always get their burger (made with their own special short-rib blend). They have a great selection on tap, with new beers rotated in pretty regularly. But the best part by far are the owners, Chris & Donna. They are the number one reason we keep coming back. I've never felt more welcomed in any establishment, it's like being in an episode of "Cheers" (but for millenials).

Looked over the menu and placed our order with Michelle, who by the way provided very good service along with assistance from another guy, didn't catch his name at the bar.. Chris and Donna both stopped over to check in on us and say hello, as she remembered us from a time we previously stopped and they really appreciated that we returned. A plus to management. For the food - My spouse and I tried their BBG's hamburgers - mine with side salad vs. fries or chips with a champagne dressing that was very good. Spouse had hers with Fries and they were good along with the burger. To be honest, when you first look at the burger and bun, see picture, you think, SMALL, however they are very thick & delicious and I barely finished my burger. Someone else had their Cuban and he enjoyed his sandwich with Excellent, I must say, sweet potato fries. His spouse had their NY chicken speidi and she enjoyed her meal as well. Lots of fun games and great place for kids and parties, they even let you bring your own cake in. Not many places that allow that. As an FYI there was a small birthday party going on and the noise level wasn't bad and the staff placed lots of great looking food on a table for the participants to help themselves. This is also a great place to catch a sports game as well. All in all great food and very good & friendly service. We will return again, that roasted sausage sandwich is calling my name.

"We don't have a cocktail menu, but we can make anything you'd like."…read more That was one of the first things our server told us, and honestly, it was refreshing. These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Guinness, but unfortunately the keg had just kicked. She recommended the Samuel Smith chocolate stout instead and even brought me a sample before I committed to taste since I never heard of it, which was a nice touch. For food, we ordered the State Grill burger and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, and each came with Belgian-style hand-cut fries. If you're spending the day browsing the boutiques and antique shops along Warren Street and want a drink, a good meal, and a lively mix of locals and tourists, Governor's Tavern is worth a stop.

Shared an OG Chicken Sandwich $13. It was buttermilk fried chicken with tomato and lettuce on a roll. Sandwich was pretty tasty. Service was just average. Otherwise, I would've given it four stars. Only a few people appear to have ordered food here. Basically, the place appears to be a watering hole. Only app.metered parking in the area.

Both the soft roll and the fruity bread were so tasty, and the salty butter spread nicely on them. I had the prime rib, which was tender and flavorful, paired with asparagus and a baked potato. He had a NY strip. Both were perfectly cooked. We were so full and satisfied at the end of the meal that we didn't have room for dessert, but we loved the food so much. It's also pretty reasonably-priced for a nice restaurant. Highly recommend!

This is not the case here - all of the food we had was made in house, and you could taste the difference. The beer battered fries had a thin flaky coating that made them irresistible. The buffalo calamari was cooked perfectly, piled up, and topped with blue cheese crumbles and green onion. Don't even get us started on the boneless wings... also, the ranch and blue cheese dip were out of this world. Guess what? HOME MADE. We came here to watch a Sabres game, since we heard there were a ton of TVs to watch the games. And we ended up being surprised with a fantastic dinner and great service. What a great night.

Honestly, they had a ton of potential, but they didn't deliver. The calamari was soggy instead of crispy. The balance of other items was pretty off. It looked pretty, but didn't taste good. The calamari was bitter in addition to being soggy. The balsamic glaze added a sweetness, but it wasn't offset by enough salty/spicy. It was served with a tomato sauce that didn't go well with the toppings. It was an odd dish. If it wasn't so late, I might have actually sent it back (which I do probably once every 10 years). Fresher, crispy and less bitter calamari might have been enough to fix the balance. My dinner companion had a sandwich with a bun, lettuce, apple slice, fried chicken, cheese, and bacon. I think it might have been a special. It was ok. It came with Saratoga chips, which is why we picked the restaurant. We wanted to get Saratoga chips in Saratoga. Unfortunately, they were hard and cold and bland. Lots of TVs. Service was meh. I felt like they were put out for serving us. There's a good bar vibe. If I were to eat there again, I would go for beer and wings.
