Abusive unethical treatment of my dog during board and train. I contracted for a two week board and…read moretrain to help me get a head start on working with a bouncy new dog we had rescued. I was told the training was all play and relationship based. I was concerned when I picked my dog up from the two week board and train because he kept trying to run away from the training room and hide behind my legs during turnover. Levi shocked him at such a high level that he cried multiple times when demonstrating commands (he told me that he was at a level 9 on a higher voltage collar than he originally started with because the dog is "stubborn" and "lazy."). I think dogs should always love training or something is being done wrong. Although I am not opposed to e collars in principle, I believe it was overused due to a lack of skill in really understanding this dog. When my dog came home I switched entirely to positive reinforcement because of what I had seen. At first my dog flinched when I gave him commands. He winced and turned on his side. He seemed afraid but like he did not know what to do to avoid punishment. I found an injury on his neck in the area the e-collar had been used. He is now working willingly and happily for me. There is never any "stubbornness" or "laziness." He loves training time. The program I purchased came with lifetime support if I returned for a follow up appointment, which of course I didn't do, because I could not fathom making my dog go back to the place of his mistreatment, and why would I want any more "advice" from abusive psuedo-trainers anyway? I did contact Levi about these concerns and he took zero accountability--which means he will do the same thing to more dogs.

I let myself get talked into a Mastiff/Bloodhound cross and found myself in a mess. I have 165 lbs of stubborn, willful, disobedient but very, cuddly loving dog. At 120 lbs I cóuldn't take him for walks any more. It was a strange experience... 5 Mastiffs and none of them used their weight or strength to push me around. But this dog dragged me anywhere he wanted to go. Someone told me about Jan and Live Oak and I thought I'd at least try. I walked into her facility for our first class and I walked out with another dog... and I don't mean I traded! Jan is a PRO. No gimmicks just calm, clear instruction for you as well as your dog. She'd make a wonderful therapist. She'll meet with you and your dog first to see if you, your dog, and she are a good fit. Then she'll make a plan and you're ready. I don't know how she does what she does that enables you to translate it to your dog. We were in a large class and everyone was getting it. She watches everything to help you and to prevent negative interactions between dogs. I promise we're not related, I'm just so grateful because she saved my relationship with my dog...who is now incredible!!

We rescued a high energy and very vocal puppy and had tried online training as well lessons in…read moreperson but were still having a hard time integrating the puppy into our day to day functioning. Recommendations for Dave with Innovative K9 as a trainer kept coming across our search and we decided to invest in the Puppy to Adult Dream Dog Course. To this day, the money spent was absolutely worth it. We learned how to continue training at home, and have always received support with any questions or concerns. We are so happy with the results, we drive an hour each way to board our dog with Innovative K9 when we have trips out of town. Now they offer pick up and drop off which makes it even more convenient! We unfortunately haven't had an opportunity to participate in the group lessons on Saturdays at the park.
