The first stop of our Highlands road trip was the Loch Maree Hotel, and we were all charmed by the nice interior, I really loved the tweed covered decor. To make the atmosphere even better, our room had a view to the lake, and in the morning, we even spotted a deer chilling in the garden. We had dinner in the hotel, both the steak and the salmon was delicious, then the guys drank a whiskey or two in the bar - the selection is pretty large and the prices are reasonable, as far as I can remember. Some points that may be good to know here are: The water comes from a fountain nearby, so it has a bit of a brownish colour, but is otherwise absolutely reliable.
