UPDATED REVIEW: Locanda Capri has always been one of the most beautiful additions to our historic downtown, and after our most recent visit, I'm reminded exactly why I fell in love with it in the first place, despite the few setbacks. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and elegant. We were seated in the back area, which was stunning and provided the perfect setting for a relaxing family dinner. Our server, Beto, was exceptional. Friendly, genuine, attentive, personable, and welcoming, he made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. As parents of young children, we especially appreciated how quickly everything came out without sacrificing quality. The food was outstanding. I ordered the Laconda salad with salmon (on the side), which was incredibly fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. The special house made gnocchi with various cheeses was fresh and delightful. We also enjoyed a cheese pizza and the spaghetti and meatballs, both of which were delicious and expertly prepared. Every dish tasted authentic, fresh, thoughtful, and full of flavor. What stood out most was how effortless the entire evening felt. Great service, beautiful ambiance, and excellent food came together to create one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. We stopped here for lunch after a fruitful (heh) morning of fruit picking in the Brentwood area! The decor is super cute, with a coastal/Amalfi lemon theme. We didn't have a reservation so there wasn't a table big enough in the patio area to seat us, but the indoor area was just as cute! We got a Locanda salad and the Brussels sprouts as starters and my friend and I ended up deciding on the Firenze pizza to split. The Brussels sprouts were super tasty and the salad was refreshing after we'd been in the sun so long. I had kinda high expectations for the pizza because there are signs all over on how it's the 5th best pizza in the world(?), but maybe those signs were more so regarding the margherita pizza(?). I typically love pizza with pesto in it--this one had yellow tomatoes + burrata as well, which were both wins in my book, but it was unfortunately way, way too oily for my taste. (We wanted to blot the pool of oil out but didn't want to eff up their provided cloth napkins.) It was still tasty, but i definitely think it cookie been better. This was my first time here I decided to treat myself to a pre-birthday dinner. Nicole the bartender was great. She was quick with putting in the order and making sure that the food came on time. Nicole can help you decide on what beverage works best for you and your meal. I had the margarita pizza with a beet salad. Beet salad was one of the best I've had just the right amount of balsamic vinegar with a very creamy goat cheese, and just the right amount of Craisins. The margarita pizza had the best crust it was buttery to the ends and just the right amount of cheese,sauce, and basil. Some pizzas are greasy, but this one was not it was worth every penny. I had hopes for a really good restaurant in Brentwood, since we are really laking in that area. My family and I went for lunch on a Saturday (it wasn't "busy" despite the Farmer's Market happening) and boy...not sure if I'd come back. First, I came a few minutes late from the rest of the group - they already got drinks ordered and it took 5 minutes for someone to come back and ask if I wanted a drink, regular plain Coca Cola, and then another 10 minutes to bring out said Coca Cola. And when I got it, there was more ice than Coca Cola in it the glass, which seemed less than a Mini Coke. Then the food comes...we asked for our son's kid pizza to come out first because he's little/hungry (it doesn't) and on top of that the dough was not cooked through all the way in many spots. When the rest of the food comes out, they bring my bread sandwich (see photo of "Meatball Panini") and boy was that a disappointing sandwich. TWO meatballs on opposite ends of the sandwich, a little cheese, and no sauce - it was like 95% bread (for $20). On top of that they forgot to bring out the pizza my wife ordered as well as another meatball dish, and after 15 minutes of waiting we had to flag someone down to ask. I'm convinced that if we didn't ask for them, we wouldn't have gotten them. The atmosphere is nice-ish and our server was nice as well, but added next to the other parts, I don't feel it can overcome those negatives. A perfectly fluffy crust with slightly charred outer bubbles. Whole basil leaves & a simple but tasty sauce. The Gorgonciccia is gorgonzola forward, obviously. The Italian sausage is superb. Date night on a Saturday. Reservations were easy to make. We started with the fritto misto and locanda salad. Both were delightful and enough to share for two. I would have liked some fresh cracked pepper but didn't see any around. He had the vesuvio aka old fashioned; it was super smokey and it had a bunch of bits on the bottom. It could have been strained better. For dinner, I had the wood fired carbonara pizza. It's being enough to share topped with crispy guanciale. Really delicious! He had the chicken parm, kind of thick piece of chicken over mashed potatoes. They ran out of tiramisu but substituted the limoncello cake instead. I was really disappointed by this restaurant. The food was all very bland. We ordered a Margherita Pizza- the picture showed fresh sliced melted mozzarella with lots of basil, what you'd expect from this type of pizza. What we got was a pizza with shredded mozzarella and two pieces of basil. Very bland. The Fettuccini Bolognese was also very bland, literally no flavor. Visited this restaurant a year or so ago when it first opened, it was excellent. Unfortunately I went after Christmas 2025 and it was not as enjoyable. The food was extremely bland, and the inside of the restaurant had a lingering sewage smell, maybe the plumbing has some issues. This is the 4th visit in a few years. And the food is still missing on so many levels, I had high hopes of better quality of food but not so lucky. Our starters was the fritto misto (calamari), it were obviously reheated because it was not crispy at all so heavy and mushy and saturated in oil, very inedible. And meatballs that didnt taste fresh also reheated. Our main courses were lasagna ( I didn't get a picture of) which I had, and after a couple bites I had to return because, well if you've ever had lasagna you know what the texture is supposed to be, well this wasn't that. Instant mushy like had been frozen and reheated several times the noodles were like a paste. The waiter said it was a few days old..uh ew. Then the "Chef" came out to tell me it was fresh that he drove from Livermore early to make taht it was never frozen. Uh, apparently he wasn't on same page to tell same story with waiter. Husband had the spaghetti costliera (seafood pasta) he said it was "ok". I think he was just hungry. So, if your hungry for good italian, I would not recommend spending money here. Came here for happy hour with the in-laws a few months back. It's an Italian restaurant in the front and they have an enclosed patio area that takes you into a photo-centric Italian escape. We popped in for cocktails and desserts and the service was amazing. Each drink we ordered came with its own little show! Walked in and it is colorful, cozy, and beautiful. Bright colored like the pictures of homes in Italy. We were sat right away by a kind host. Came here with 4 other women for dinner. I had been here once before and had dinner at the bar and the food was fairly good. On this night...not so much. I was in the mood for seafood and when the waiter mentioned a risotto with crab and shrimp and a bit of red sauce, I thought this would be a winner. It would have been nice if when he mentioned the specials he also mentioned the price. The women next to me ordered it as well. When we finally got our dinners (took awhile) my risotto dish looked pretty good. Thought it was odd that some shrimp still had their tails while some didn't. As I was eating it, I noticed two things...the risotto was not cooked all the way AND if there truly was crab then it must have been waved over the top because it was not making an appearance on my plate. I asked my friend next to me how she liked hers. She also noticed the undercooked pasta. Little did we know that undercooked risotto with 5 shrimp and possible crab would be $31.95. Will I be back? I don't leave bad reviews often, but this experience was really disappointing, especially on Father's Day. We waited over 30 minutes just to place our order, and it wasn't even our waiter who eventually helped us. Throughout the entire time, our waiter seemed to be avoiding our table, so we ended up repeating our order multiple times, first to a busboy and then again to the hostess. After all that waiting, a member of the kitchen staff came out and informed me that the item I ordered was no longer available because so much time had passed before our order was even submitted. At that point, we still hadn't received any food, and I hadn't even finished my drink. We decided to pay for our drinks and leave. Mistakes happen, but the lack of communication, attentiveness, and basic service was frustrating. We came out to celebrate Father's Day and instead spent most of our time wondering if anyone was going to take our order. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had, and we won't be returning. We went there for our very belated Valentine's Day dinner last night. We made a reservation for 6 o'clock. We were seated quickly in a booth upon arrival. The restaurant wasn't busy, so it wasn't loud. We were greeted immediately by our usual Waiter. We ordered the Beet Salad to share. It was nice they plated the beet salad separately. Hubby had his usual Petrale Sole and I had the Pollo Marsala. I was very happy/relieved that our entrees came out perfectly. The last time we were there, the sides were chinsy. Anyhow, hubby was very happy with his sole. My Pollo Marsala was tender and flavorful. The vegetables were perfect - soft but not mushy. The mash potato was a bit on the lumpy side, but it was still tasty. We ordered Crème Brûlée and Limoncello Cake for dessert. The Crème Brûlée was perfect, but the cake was a bit dense (not light like before). The service was very good, but not perfect. The Server forgot my hubby's Espresso order. He apologized and gave us Amaretto shots on the house. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and dining experience. We'll definitely return. read more

This area wasn't open the last time I was here, so sitting outside was a must do! Gosh the patio is so cute and cozy. The set up and decor feels as though you're having lunch in a boujee cutie spot in LA or in Italy (dream trip)! The East Bay needs more places like this. Our waiter was super nice and attentive, water glasses and drinks always refilled, and the food was amaaazing! Three of us split the beet salad, Firenze pizza, and Eggplant parm. The drinks ordered: 2 Aperol spritz (of course) and glass of wine. The wood fired pizza was sooo good! Yellow cherry tomato, pesto, Fiori Di Latte, burrata, peso and red Sicilian Datterino Tomatoes. Locanda Capri, draped with lovely Bougainvillea along the gated patio, gives you hearts in your eyes, even before you step inside. The inside is even more intimately furnished as the island of Capri is backdropped, with the blending decor. Even the artisanal plates appear to be hand crafted, with their family owned name written beautifully on them. The menu was even more impressively simple, with intriguing Italian favorites that were difficult to decide on only one. My greatest decision being the Spaghetti Costiera. A blend of Mexican Gulf Prawns. Silky and buttery Atlantic Salmon with scallops, in a smooth bisque sauce, were the delight of my food Euphoria. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive with my dietary wishes, all the way to my final choice, the Italian Zeppole donut. I always like to go restaurants if I can a few times. It gives you a chance to see if it's really a place worth recommending especially if the restaurant is fairly new. This is one of those places that every time Ive gone since opening that continues to make me want to come back. I think what makes this place is two fold. For starters the staff is unbelievable from bar backs, to managers. They are funny, super attentive, and pleasant. Next is the consistency with the food. I've yet to have anything I didn't like other than the lavender lemon drop I just had but I think it's because it has been removed from the menu but they wanted to please me and tried to make up one. It's not food anyway nor on the drink list so I was unbothered. I can ALWAYS bring guest here and know that they will have great food and a great experience. I usually choose patio seating because of the cute vibe and lounge type atmosphere. I gave it 4 stars because of the lack of heat. Not sure if that can be fixed but there is always indoor seating.
