Similar to Paxton's Gate in the mission, but cooler because: 1. it's not in the mission 2. They are reasonably priced 3. They don't have any creepy taxidermy They have a random collection of scissors and staplers which I thoroughly enjoyed. They have an eames chair in the window and a collection of things you would find at an estate sale or garage sale and actually buy. They display things nicely, I appreciate the succulents and wood wine boxes nailed sideways on the walls and used at shelves- genius idea. I will definitely come back here. read more

I'm not really sure how anything here is priced at 'really affordable'. When a succulent plant that costs $2-4 they're selling for $10, or a piece of driftwood costs $30.... I don't call that reasonably priced. I call that being ripped off, when I know that I could buy it at a nursery, walmart, target, online, or from a local plant sale much, MUCH cheaper. Not to mention simply walking on the beach to find wood. What I presume to be the owners look like they're wearing costumes. If they actually are, then that's a bit weird, but okay. If they're not, then that's even stranger. Neat little shop to look at, but as of now I won't be spending my money here because its simply not worth it. I can support local small business AND still get a good deal, just not here. read more

Plenty of vintage and random coolness going on here, and the boys aren't hard to look at, either. It's nice to see young hipsters outside of the Mission. Balboa baby! The new next. So the store... If your are serious about interior design, or have a thing for mid century modern chairs, take the trip out there. Save yourself some cash and buy here instead of lower Hayes, Valencia etc. If you want something, they will find it for you. read more

My husband and I just bought THE BEST couch here. Seriously, the best couch in the world - in fact, I'm sitting on it as we speak. 1960's, green, and in perfect condition (like, covered in plastic for 40 years perfect). They delivered the couch to our house (just a block away, but still) and were super sweet and helpful. This place is awesome, we stop in every time we walk by and see cool new items every time. Cool little store and the owners are hip too. They have a really sweet set up out here and so well organized! If you happen to stop in on a Sunday, a friendly couple consistently makes cool sidewalk sales across the street on the corner! You can get a really good deal from them! read more

This is a wonderful store, tucked away in the outer Richmond. More than anything, it just has a really great vibe and is really well curated. Staff is super nice, selection is great - just the right amount of vintage to rummage through, and a lot of San Francisco specific vintage - and the prices are very good. It's a refreshing change from the overload of stuff at Stuff, and what's starting to feel like a sea of sameness on Valencia. I just hope enough people find it/make the trek out to keep it in business. the upside of the neighborhood is there is plenty of parking! read more

Eames chairs! Bowling pins! 1950s alarm clocks! This is a very sweet shop, with a lot going on inside. Furniture is one focus at Mixed Nuts, but their decor selection is fun to peruse, and there are lots of surprises floating around. They're very down-to-earth, and have been unpretentious with me, even through the joint is swimming in a sea of mid-century modern furniture. One day, I came in with my sweetheart and we saw a jar of old typewriter and cash register keys, and I really wanted to look through it to pick out some of the really fun ones, and they set us up at a gorgeous glass-top table, where I had fun for like half an hour. The owners seem connected to the neighborhood and are very interested in what's going on in the immediate world, which was also nice to hear. Bonus points for all the beautiful old San Francisco ashtrays, from long-ago restaurants and bars. read more

I was wandering around the neighborhood with a friend while waiting on another friend for dinner and to kill some time, we saw this cute little vintage store that didn't used to be there back when we were still in high school. It had a nice atmosphere, even the air smelled vintage and there were plenty of cool knick knacks. All was well, UNTIL I took out my phone and just wanted to take a snapchat of the store and the owner called out to me and my friend saying "you know you should ask when you are taking photos or videos of someone else's store, it's only polite." I quickly apologized and said I would delete it. Then another customer came and took her attention off of us, and we quietly left the store as quickly as possible as it got awkward for us. I mean, if you didn't want people to take photos or videos, most stores would post a sign. There was absolutely no need to make us feel extremely awkward. With that being said, I do not suggest coming in here unless you like being called out and overpriced vintage items. There are a few reasons why I am giving this a 1 star. 1.) Everything was relatively expensive for obviously used items. 2.) The deal breaker was making me and my friend felt extremely unwelcomed and awkward. read more

TWICE now I've attempted to come check this spot out (by bus keep in mind) during the hours they are advertised as open. Both times closed. I guess this place is expecting its anticipated customers to call first? Not my idea of customer service. Good luck staying in business with that kind of consistency. read more

Mixed Nuts has gotten better since they've opened. Better inventory now - they've gotten rid of the over prized succulents. Never know what one might find here now. Could be something really cool. Always on my list of places to visit when I'm in the area. read more

Great little vintage shop. I wandered in after seeing all the signs around the neighborhood. Lots of cool things that I would love to buy if I didn't have enough random knick-knacks at home already. I did buy a really sweet belt buckle that I may or may not ever wear. I asked the owner if girls can wear belt buckles and he exclaimed "of course they can wear belt buckles!" Sold. read more

The ideal customer of this place has more money then sense. Yeah theres a ton of cool stuff, but nothing is truly "rare" or "one-of-a-kind" enough to justify the prices theyre selling at. But still, just because I don't have $600 to blow on a chair doesn't mean I should leave a 1 star review. read more

Good spot for stuff to furnish your place. There is a ton of chairs here and chests. Lighting too. I got a SWEET vintage coffee table here in pretty good shape. From the deal I got, my advice is not to pay sticker price. They take discover. Parking can be tricky on balboa so prepare to get lucky. read more

I have been in this industry a long time and love what these guys are doing. The older re-sellers have no idea how to show great items with out a hard core sale mentality. These aficionados just do what they do because they love it. And you get a great item, at a great price, guaranteed to not be mis-represented. LOVE! I wanted to address the two single stars. I love this store. I walk around and look at all the ridiculously cool knick-knacks, decorations, furniture, and feel INSPIRED to do something creative and make my house look more cool. It's sort of like, if you went to fifty garage sales, then maybe one to two of the unique one of a kind things you saw would be selected for the store. It's always fun to just to poke in here to see what they have. My favorite thing so far is a re-purposed old stool made into a lamp. I haven't bought anything yet but plan one of these days. I know my nephew's going to get one of the little skateboards for Christmas read more

A gem of a find... I happened upon it by accident. The owner is very friendly and helpful. They have an eclectic assortment of vintage items you'd find at a quality estate sale at reasonable (affordable) prices. It's a great place to browse and buy. The Richmond has arrived! Mixed Nuts is a well curated assortment of salvage finds, vintage goods and just plain cool stuff. The shop owner is seriously cool and provides hope that other entrepreneurs will be attracted to the numerous storefront opportunities on Balboa.
