Exceptional service! Unlike other businesses we contacted, Local Gate Service offered to repair rather than install a brand new (very expensive) security gate. Their technician, Ray, was outstanding: on time for both removal and installation, and with minimum disruption. Courteous and focused on our needs. Turnaround was about a week. Results? We are extremely happy. I highly recommend this business. read more

I reached out to Local Gate Service initially I reached Ron (Dad) I explained to him my needs. I had an existing gate that was set up, strictly on a solar panel with batteries when the weather got bad cloudy days or when the solar panel got too much pollen on it or just got dirty. the gate would be super slow and it just wouldn't work. I had finally decided it was time to switch it over to a electric gate with battery back up. Ron understood my needs perfectly. He told me he would have his son Shawn Call me to discuss exactly what I needed done requested that I send him. Some pictures pictures were sent. SHAWN got back to me promptly told me what he felt was the best motor for the job which was a LiftMaster, which was a name that I'm familiar with as I've had LiftMaster garage doors for many years never had a single problem so I'm sure there reliability carried over to their GATE motors. Other companies have come out to give me a bid you'll see in the pictures attached below the existing motor they all told me that they would need to come and pour a concrete slab to mount the new LiftMaster motor that would take a few days and it definitely increase the price immediately just by looking at the pictures Ron had a different plan. He was able to have this plan because he has master welders part of his installation team, they thought outside the box and said now this will be a quick and easy job. You already have two posts that are sunk in the ground for the existing motor so on site they fabricated and welded a tray and then welded it to the two existing post so you'll see the new motor is suspended above the ground which I like better anyway kind of keeps rodents not wanting to go in there and just keeps the whole thing cleaner when I'm blowing out, unable to blow underneath it leaves and things their installation was on time because of the welding and not having to pour a slab they were in and out one day they painted the old gate they tested it. They provided me with three remotes and two keypads. I would not hesitate to call them again in the future for any other needs specially because their ability to think outside the box, manufacture, and weld on site. Shawn is the Son. He's the one that you'll do most communications with definitely very knowledgeable follows through calling explaining and made sure to let you know that they'll be there to stand behind the product and installation the entire warranty. And beyond in needed. Great family operation don't hesitate to give them a chance to assess your situation. LOCAL GATE SERVICE Ron & Shawn two thumbs up Five stars read more

It was an easy and terrific experience working with Ron and his son Shawn. We had a large gate at a rental property fail at the hinges and fall to the ground. They responded quickly, gave us great advice, and fixed everything to perfection. Fair and reasonable price. They even threw in a new latch that had not been in the initial estimate, because they knew it was the better solution when they were out on the job. This family owned and operated company is honest, trustworthy, professional and skilled. Look no further. read more

I can't say enough good things about Local Gate. They patiently worked with our religious institution as we made revisions--with each revision then needing adjustments to the estimate. When the work started, the fencing was up almost overnight. It looks great and has really enhanced our security. Their service is a great value for the money, and I couldn't be happier. read more

Local Gate Service installed a strong, beautifully designed dual swing steel gate for our driveway. The workmanship is high quality. Every detail from the strength of the hinges to the durability of the lock was carefully planned out and executed. The two installers cleaned up so thoroughly that we did not have to pick up a single bit. In addition the company was easy to reach as they always pick up the phone when we called for information. Our 20+ year old gate had an issue closing where the motor did not want to turn off once our electric gate closed. My husband contacted Ron and after speaking for a few minutes, Ron decided to have his son Shawn contact my husband. After speaking to my husband, Shawn felt that our gate could be fixed over the phone. In 20 minutes, Shawn was able to help my husband fix our gate and at no charge! After the service, Ron offered us 1 year of consultation, which was also a blessing in disguise. If you need gate repairs, or want a new fence/gate, call Ron and get a GREAT DEAL!!! Thank you Ron and Shawn and keep up the great work! read more

We reached out to Local Gate Service about having two wooden gates replaced for our home in San Leandro. The service was outstanding. From helping us decide on the style of the gate, to recommendations, everything was top notch. The turn around time from the start of the project to completion was incredibly fast without skimping on quality. And the cost was very competitive, and their service is above and beyond. We are greatly pleased with the final products and now have two very sturdy gates that not only function, but add a beautiful aesthetic to our property. Special thanks to Shawn for always being there throughout the process and for keeping us informed every step of the way. If you need a gate, fencing, or something else for your home or business, definitely give these guys a try. They are awesome. read more

I called Local Gate Service yesterday since my automatic sliding gate stopped working. I spoke to Ron about my issue with my gate opener and he was able to set up a phone appointment with his son, Shawn, the next day. Shawn was very patient with me over the phone and was able to guide me through all the steps needed to help fix my issue. I'm not a handy person but with Shawn's guidance and assistance, I was able to fix my electric gate motor. The phone appointment was free whereas other companies charges anywhere from $400-$500 as a minimum service call. Since I had such a positive experience with Local Gate Service, I'll be contacting them if I were to have any other issues with my gate. Thanks again Ron and Shawn! read more

Working with Ron and Shaun (sorry if I misspelled your name) was easy and pleasant! I have a liftmaster chain link gate that stopped automatically closing and they offered this phone call consultation and walked me through the steps to get it working again. Couldn't be more thankful and grateful because all it took was 20 minutes to resolve over the phone. Shaun knew what the problem was just by looking at a picture and walked me through what needed to be done. AMAZING SERVICE & definitely will definitely hit them up again if another need arises. After getting a quote from another business that was way out of my price range, I was pleasantly surprised to with Local Gate Service's willingness to work with me to design and deliver a quality gate that meets our needs exactly and met our budget. They were very transparent about the design process and it felt more like a collaboration than a sales pitch. I did feel a little pressured when I learned that half payment was due once they performed a "walk through" to confirm the details. The person I worked with had an intense communication style that was a little off-putting. In the end, though, i was pleased. The gate they built feels solid and looks great. They were prompt to communicate and execute the job, and easy to reach when I had questions after the job was complete. read more

Not only the best gate/fence company I've used, but the best company on Yelp I've ever used. Ron, Shawn, and all of their employees are the best! They not only gave me the best quote for replacing my stairway railing, but a discount on two other gate problems I had. They were the only gate/fence company that only needed a photo to start working and providing solutions. The new railing, beautiful. The gate problems, fixed. And a special shoutout to Leonel who helped me moved the heavy, thorny plants back... even though it was dark out. Thank you Ron, Shawn, and co. read more

Ron and Shawn are a great team! I talked with at least six automatic gate opener companies, and this is the ONLY one which did not just give me a hard sales slam. Ron heard me out when I explained that I really needed a repair on my old gate opener versus a new unit, and then Shawn called and guided me in fixing the unit to get a little more time out of it. Now that's genuine service instead of just salesmanship! When it comes time to replace my old unit in the next year or two, I'll be relying on Local Gate Service. Thanks Ron and Shawn for being standup guys and running an honest business. read more

Working with Local Gate Service was an exceptionalI experience. We were somewhat forced into getting a gate after an attempted break in and Shawn had so much patience helping me understand all the options. We ended up with a dual swing gate and Liftmaster solar gate operator that is beautiful, works without any issues and has really improved the value of our home. We also needed a pedestrian gate entrance as well and Shawn did an excellent job outlining a design that was challenging due to our lot and home entry. I am very particular (yes, you could say nit picky) and I have nothing but great things to say about our experience with Local Gate Service. Would use again for sure. read more

Shawn and Ron were everything you could hope for from a family run business. They were friendly and professional and care about quality customer service. I wanted a single swing gate with redwood slats for privacy and security for my driveway. They delivered a great gate in a reasonable timeframe. The build is quite sturdy with a heavy duty steel frame, pillow block bearing hinges, a LiftMaster swing gate operator, and a mag lock to keep it closed on windy days. They even gave me a tutorial and walkthrough of the system so I can add remotes and diagnose issues myself. All in all I'm happy with the product and the service! read more

I had a great experience working with Local Gate Service. Ron, Shawn, and Leo and his team did a great job executing end to end. Our project was to install a front gate to our home to replace an existing iron gate. We couldn't be happier with how the new gate looks and functions. Both Shawn and Ron were very responsive to our questions and also provided accurate and conservative ETA's. They also took the time to explain what options we had and the various considerations associated with the different options. For future projects, I'll definitely reach out to them again. read more

Ron and his son from Local Gate Service are a super nice and awesome father son duo. Also highly recommend to at least reach out as they provided better quotes than other companies I reached out to. read more

I called Local Gate Service. I needed service/repair for an Automatic Sliding Gate. Ron was very cordial, professional, and of course knowledgeable. He requested I send him pictures of my Automatic Sliding Gate/Eagle Motor, etc. My issue was a Broken Chain, excessive noise, and the Gate would continuously hit the side of the house. Well, a couple of days later, the Gate was operating perfectly, better than ever in fact. This is a top notch company. Ron and his son Shawn were always extremely helpful and accommodating. A brand new Chain was installed. New tires. And the motion/tension was adjusted. My Eagle Motor didn't need replacement as it's still operational. But it's an older motor (15 years old). Rest assured that when it clunks out, I will be calling Ron for a new LiftMaster Motor. Overall this was a very positive experience. Thank you, Ron and Shawn! 5 Stars!!! read more

Shawn and Ron from Local Gate Service were an absolute pleasure to work with. We moved to a new house that had a discarded driveway gate and Shawn and Ron were able to find a new one that matched the aesthetic of the the remaining fence perfectly. In addition to procuring the gate and motor, cement pads had to be layed and the workers took extra care to reduce impact to the vegetation around the work area. The automatic sliding gate and Liftmaster gate operator functions so quietly and smoothly that they do not draw a lot of attention when in operation. This has really improved our peace of mind compared to our previous parking arrangement! Local Gate Service were able to procure and install everything within a week of inquiry! The responsiveness and speed of work was nothing less than stunning. They even were happy to modify a strike plate in our pedestrian gate at the last minute. I highly recommend Local Gate Service for your gate needs! Great value, great communication, and great quality of work all around. read more

Ron and Sean from Local Gate Service made putting in a gate across our driveway as painless as possible. I talked with four companies and finally chose Local Gate Service because they were by far the most responsive out of all the companies I talked with. My wife and I had a lot of ideas we were trying to work through. Ron helped us from the very start with examples of what would be possible for our driveway. He talked us through several iterations of ideas. My wife and I decided on a custom built gate and a Lift Master electric gate operator. When it came to installing the gate and gate operator they provided the same level of service. Sean told me what needed to be done and we worked out a schedule. Then they did the work when and how they said they were going to do it. If I had any questions he was there with answers. After it was installed he walked me through its operation, maintenance and questions I had. I have since given their name to several neighbors who have admired the gate. read more

I will be using Local Gate Service for any issues with my electronic, metal, slide gates on all of my properties. My Liftmaster metal sliding gate was having issues opening and closing randomly, and occasionally beeping. I was worried I'd have to call an expensive technician to come out. Ron and Shawn were able to take a look at the pictures I sent over email and in a 15 minute phone call helped me diagnose the problem and walked me through how to fix it myself. Turns out the gate was just out of alignment, and a few button clicks later, was back to working. Fastest and best service I've ever had out of any type of house repair. This review is years, years (!!!) overdue. Summer of 2020 Ron, Sean and the team installed a beautiful wrought iron gate with wood slats across our driveway exactly to our specifications. They patiently went back and forth with me as I hemmed and hawed on the details of measurements and design. They even came back a few weeks after work was complete at no charge to replace a couple boards that I decided weren't up to snuff. Fast-forward two years to today and we are just as happy with the gate as the day they installed it and many neighbors have asked for a reference of where they could get one just like it. The answer --- call Ron and Shawn at Local Gate Service. I'll add pics as soon as I figure out how to do so. read more

Shawn and his father, Ron, were a great team to work with. We collaborated on a custom motorized telescoping gate for my driveway. Local Gate Service is a family business based on quality service. Father and son, Ron and Shawn have a vast photo portfolio of examples of gates that they have constructed. They advised us of ALL the options that were viable so that we could make an informed choice. Once we made our decision, Leo, an associate, visited to take measurements. On 2 subsequent visits, the posts and then the bi-folding gates were installed, exactly as promised. The measurement to final installation was accomplished in about a week. I had to end a relationship with a contractor who was taking care of a backyard landscaping project on my property and unfortunately I was left with an unfinished gate. The gate was not at the height that I wanted, did not have wood panel installed and did not lock and close properly. Other contractors would not take this project because they didn't want to work on an unfinished project. I just got off the phone with Ron. What a great guy! Honesty and candor are unfortunately in short supply in today's world. But not with Ron. I described the issue I am having with my automated gate. Everything else is working, but I have lost the ability to get the "attention" of the call box from inside the house (but I still can provide commands to the gate when someone presses the call button from the call box). He advised that there must be a partial defect with my main circuit board, but then without hesitation he told me two things. First, it would NOT be wise to replace the board on such an old unit (it is 20 years old). The board costs solidly $800 plus labor, and that is too money much to sink in a 20-year old call box. Second, he said he would also advise against replacing the call box at this time. That would be several thousands of dollars, and the point is the unit is still providing the core functionality. While he would like the business of course, his honest advice is to sit tight. Which makes a lot of sense. But I am not sure there are many folks out there who would encourage me to not hire them. So thanks Ron! I know who to call in the future when it is time to replace that call box. read more
