Went into the retail store, they were promoting custom foot inserts, for under.$300. Thought I would give them a try they did not have any customers in the shop. Asked if I could get an insert. They refused and said they were too busy. I acknowledged and said your loss and walked out. The owner chased me down the block, and informed me it was not his loss, he didn't need the sale, and that it is my loss. I said no your loss and as he walked away, he flipped his middle finger at me, and said a few choice words. Won't go back, and recommend no one else does also. I cannot believe that a community that depends so much on tourist income allows this type of behavior by its merchants. read more

I was going in for some Birkenstock sandals and grabbed a pair asking if he had them in dark blue and he said "Do you see dark blue anywhere ??". My boyfriend came here to buy me a pair of boots while we were in town. They didn't fit and I never wore them so I came back the next AM to return and they only do store credit. I don't live in town so now I have to spend $200 on some random crap. They weren't willing at all to do a return. Edit: I came back later to get my credit and she allowed a refund. I had the same experience as most of the other reviewers when shopping here. The owners were very nice, but whispered to each other a lot while I was trying on various snow boots. I would have left because of the whispering (no one else was in the store at the time, and the whispering made me feel like they were going to gouge me on the pricing), but it had snowed 12 inches the day before and I needed high snow boots. I don't normally check pricing, but because of the whispering, I did online when I got home. Four online sites were selling the boots for 1/2 the price I paid of $130. I went back to the shop the next day to point that out and when they refused to pay me the difference, I asked for a store credit for the difference which they also refused. I asked them if the boots were last year's model since they were so much cheaper on numerous sites and the woman told me they were this year's. I checked online that night and they were 2 years old. Don't wait until you have no other options when going into this shop like me. You will likely have the same experience. They could have done the right thing as I was not asking for a refund, but they refused. read more

I've bought myself and family members hiking and snowboarding boots here on several occasions. So long as you schedule a fitting ahead of time, it really works out, Eric will spend an hour or more fitting the boot and isvery consultative in the process. I believe that the fee for fitting the boot is credited if you buy a pair of boots, which considering that he's spending at least an hour of his attention on just your feet, isn't a bad deal. As far as fitting quality goes, my wife and daughter both were struggling with their snowboards. After a proper fitting to more sung fitting boots, both of them immediately improved. You can buy a cheap or used snowboard, but don't skimp on the boots. I've also bought hiking boots and the fit is so much better, especially since I have a narrow heal that rubs and gets blistered. I even paid extra for custom orthotic soles, where he trims them to fit, heats them and had me stand on them to form until they cooled. Perfect fit, no rubbing! This is a premium boot fitting, Don't compare it to going to REI and having some fairly basic advice, but nothing custom done. Eric is passionate about fitting foot ware and is a master at it. Just be courteous to get a reservation for his time and you'll get a primo and enjoyable fitting experience. read more

Unfortunately the man who runs the store is way too cool to help regular people like me. Every time I've tried to shop there he does something condescending or rude. Even trying to buy a patch kit for my jacket he was critical. I've heard he's a good boot fitter, but this is a ski town, there are other really good boot fitters in town who aren't downright angry and offensive. Sorry, not going to go back again. Massage available for half and full hours. massage facility was very clean, well lit, and warm. Lara was quite detailed in her massages. I am a local to Fraser Valley and stopped by to check out their women's backcountry ski boot selection. The man who greeted me was incredibly defensive right off the bat. He informed me that they did custom boot fitting by a $40 appointment only because of the whole "pro deal" thing with people coming in to try the boots on only to buy them cheaper online. I 100% understand why a local shop would do this so they don't waste their time on non-paying customers. However, he seemed to assume that that was exactly what I was doing without asking me any questions first. I then let him know which brands I was and wasn't interested in trying on. He seemed to basically ignore me and continued to bring up the brands I clearly stated I didn't want to try on as well as constantly going back to the whole needing to make an appointment thing so I don't waste his time. I would like to point out that being COVID times and the off season, the shop was predictably totally empty so I didn't get the sense that he was strained for time. I do tend to walk into these scenarios (that is, ski gear shopping) with my guard up already because as a woman, I am usually met with a sexist undertone. The rep (usually a man) assumes I don't know anything about the gear and doesn't bother to listen if I try to let them know that I actually have some informed thoughts. My instinct was right in this situation. When I said that I had already done some research at home and knew which brands I wanted to try on, he again ignored this and told me I needed to spend a couple hours trying boots on with him to find the right fit. He condescendingly said that looking at reviews online is a waste of time which seems a little backwards to me. The ONLY reason I give this shop 2 stars instead of 1 is because their boot selection is actually really great! They had almost all the brands I was interested in which is awesome for a tiny local shop such as this one! They would have been almost guaranteed to get $40 from me for a boot fitting and potentially even a sale if I hadn't been given such a sexist and defensive lecturing about boot shopping. I would also like to point out that this is indeed COVID times and the man's mask was not covering his nose at any point during the conversation. read more

I would stay far away from this store. This was a very bad experience overall. Not only will you be greatly judged from the time you enter the store, there will be continuing insults throughout the visit. When just shopping for custom inserts, they constantly push you to buy shoes in their store. When I said that I didn't really care for the styles that they had, I was told about how ugly and disgusting the shoes that had were, and how there is no way that they would be a part of dress code at work. They also tell you about how just getting the insoles will ruin all of their hard work if you put them in the shoes that you have. Apparently any shoes that aren't bought there are hideous and unworthy of being worn, especially since any that aren't bought there are just cheap and worthless according to the owner. I also really loved the fact that I was informed about how my shoes were not the right size. I am no "expert," but I have been buying shoes for the last few decades and I tend to buy shoes that are comfortable, but I guess that isn't good enough. For someone who is on a budget, I was not thrilled to spend my hard earned money in a store that was so offensive. If I had not already spent a great deal of time there getting my insoles made, I would have just forgotten this and gone somewhere else. read more

Would rather have the visitor experience. I went to this shop for new boots because my boss knows the owners and said they were knowledgeable... well shame on me for listening to others. Ended up paying retail price on a boot that was manufactured 3 1/2 years ago. I specifically asked, "Are these this years boot?" To which the owner replied, "Yes. And they havent changed this boot for the past two seasons." Got home to find out from a roommate that my Salomon boot was the 2014 model and not "this year's" 2017 model. I needed new boots, and actually happy with the boots, but being lied to and taken advantage of.... not the way to run a business!! read more

Eric and Lara are both great. I spent at least three hours in the store trying on various pairs of ski boots. Eric took the time to share the features and benefits of each boot and why each boot may or may not work for me. I read another review saying Eric was pushy! Kinda of makes me laugh. I could tell Eric enjoys everything ski boot related and truly enjoyed spending the time helping me make a decision. I did not feel pressured AT ALL! Went in to try on some different hiking shoes with my dad because I saw that the shop was having a clearance. I usually prefer wearing men's shoes because I have wider feet and I like the fit better. Immediately I was berated for not trying the women's. Instead of helpful service, we were met with rude comments and were told that we didn't know what we were doing. We were lectured the entire time that they could get us better fit ones and that the reason why the women's shoes didn't fit was because I didn't ask for the proper help and therefore I couldn't find the correct shoe. I don't see the problem with trying on shoes by myself to find a fit that works for me. I'm not a custom boot fitter but I do know what feels good on my foot. Very disappointed and the worst customer service I have ever received. I don't enjoy being lectured on the shoes I should try just because I know the size and the fit I want. read more

We were in Winter Park on a ski vacation with the family. My son has always had trouble with boots, but this time it was so bad he had to skip a day. We decided to buy him his own boots. We made an appointment with Eric and he was terrific. At no point did we ever feel rushed, he took plenty of time to figure exactly what the issues were and looking at different boots and inserts to correct the problem. I was beyond disappointed in how I was treated as a customer. I simply wanted to try on a pair of ski boots in which the woman working informed me that "that's not how we work here". She informed me that I was not allowed to try on a pair of boots without participating in their custom boot fitting process at the cost of $25. Although the $25 is applied to the final cost of the boot, I think it's ubsurd that you would turn away a customer because they are knowledgeable in their own sizing and didn't want to participate in the custom boot fitting process. I had also made the mistake of asking the woman a question regarding another pair of boots. The woman working actually questioned my own intentions as to why I was asking her about the other boot. General practice when working with a customer is to be helpful in problem solving with the customer, not become defensive and egotistic. Worst customer service I have EVER experienced. First and last time I will ever go into that shop. I would not recommend this business to any human being that prefers not to be treated like shit! read more

I made a visit on Thanksgiving Weekend. Actually 3 visits. Between my girlfriend and me, we purchased 2 pair of boots, hats, and socks. We were happy with the customer service and attentive of staff. We were satisfied with all of the products except one. I purchased a pair of boots. They were defective. We advised them the same day and they confirmed. (The zippers would not stay up). They failed to replace them. So, I returned the defective pair. I live 2,000 miles away and they wanted to give me only a store credit. They would not fully stand behind the pair of boots that they sold me. I was so surprised and disappointed by this. Now, I am getting my refund through my credit card company. But, why did I have to resort to disputing the initial charge? I am very disappointed. I didn't change my mind about the boots, they were simply defective (the zippers would unzip after wearing them for five minutes). So, although the people are very nice, they do not fully stand behind their products. read more
