So, I'm new to the area and am in search of the ultimate lobster roll and clam chowda! The clam chowder here is downright amazing. I dream of it once a day! Don't miss it. Get the flight of lobster rolls as you get a little more food. The lobster rolls were delicious. You serve yourself, so, no comments on service except they were always nice and helpful. Ambiance is not the order of the day as it's on the busy street, but, they are constructing something to make it more cozy. That'll help. read more

I was super excited to try this place after having missed them while living in Greenwich. The lobster Mac and cheese was great and the homemade potato chips were really good. Unfortunately the low stars for this review comes from the fact that they charged $30 for a lobster roll that had next to nothing as far as actual lobster meat. The lack of lobster meat was a bit ridiculous given the fact that I've had amazing lobster rolls at Watch Hill, Montauk, Greenwich, and Newport with much more filling and paid less, by at least $8 dollars. The lobster roll filling is also mixed with too many carrots and celery. I paid much less for the lobster Mac and cheese and got more lobster meat. I'm looking forward to trying the chowder and bisque. read more

Huge YES to the lobster mac and cheese, and the lobster roll is spicy and saucy, especially with its juices dripping to the bread that made each bite extra delicious. read more

My family and I were on a long, painful drive down I-95 when we were struck with hunger. Where is the nearest rest stop? Will they have a Subway? Luckily for us, I took out my handy Yelp app and decided to see what was around. Lo and behold, LobsterCraft popped up on the top of my list with a ringing endorsement from the Yelp community so away we went! We found the spot and were glad to see lots of parking and plenty of seating in the tent outside! We all ordered their traditional bestseller, The Coastal, and devoured them. Hearty chunks of lobster meat on delicious buttery, toasted bread. Was so yummy! I'm pretty spoiled by the Boston/Maine lobster scene but LobsterCraft held its own. And it kept us well-fed until dinner time. Will definitely have to come by the next time I'm passing through! read more

Now that's a lobster roll!!! I've been highly critical about these lobster rolls in NYC and NJ and I finally took a ride to CT to get one. I love the fact that they give you the butter separate so you choose how much you eat. Lobster was sweet, tasty and awesome!! I bought 2 cause when I had the first one on the spot I need to take one for later. read more

After a long walk at Sherwood Island we wanted to complete the CT experience with a lobster roll. After a quick Yelp search I came across LobsterCraft. It's a bit hard to find as you can't see it from the road. Follow the GPS and take the driveway to the back lot. Upon approaching the restaurant they had a convenient walk-up window with a large menu. We were greeted by a friendly worker who took our order. She brought the bag out within 7 minutes of ordering and thanked us for our business. We were delighted with the food. The lobster was fresh, cooked well, and seasoned perfectly. We loved that they served the butter on the side. Lobster items come at a steep $20-25 for a moderate quantity of meat. Overall delicious but for a steep price. Three of us had two rolls, one Mac without lobster and 1 order of fries. Add 3 bottles of water and we were at $75 with tip. We will definitely go back when we have a craving and some bonus cash! read more

LobsterCraft - The Coastal (fresh lobster, drawn butter, and seasoning on a roll with crispy, ridged potato chips) - Food Trucks Near Me - Fairfield, Connecticut

Before Yelp, I used Jane and Michael Stern's Road Food series books to find little gems like Lobstercraft. If you open Road Food, the first recommendation is Abbott's Lobster in the Rough in Noank, CT - a personal favorite. Lobstercraft has the same vibe. Outdoor seating, fresh, perfectly cooked lobster, fair pricing and friendly service. We were photographing a vintage car rally and while the rally entrants dined on a $150 lunch-for-two in a near-by fancy eatery, we drove here and tucked into what I am sure was a better lunch. Fresh, hot buttered lobster along with a side of crispy chips - $20. In NYC, that's a $40 meal. Their fries are excellent and are delivered in a generous portion that I shared with two others - yum! On my second visit, I added lobster bisque and was pleased at their take on this classic. They give you a bowl of rich broth with a cup of dipping lobster chunks. Clever and yummy. They have a lobster truck but if you need a sea food fix and are close by, drive around the back (look for their sign) and get ready to smile. Even if it's raining or chilly, you can sit in your car and chow down - they have a convenient parking lot. A classic roadside treasure and one that I'll go back again with my wife - a lobster fan and lover of good value. HIGHLY recommended - wish I could give more stars. read more

Sad to say this place has changed. While the price point is somewhat outside of their control due to inflation and the price of goods, the cost is still pretty hard to swallow. As others have mentioned, the price would be worth it for good lobster, but the last two times I have been here, the lobster has been overcooked and lukewarm. Definitely disappointing, hopefully they can turn things around to be more like they used to be. I might be back to try the soup again, it was really good the first time. But I likely won't be back for a lobster roll. read more

So disappointed. Went here for my birthday lunch. Lobster rolls start at $29 each!! Wow. I would gladly pay this if it was good. Lobster was tasteless and the chips were unusual. $70.00 later, and we had to go somewhere else after to feel satisfied. Sorry - will not be back.... read more

LobsterCraft, do your selves a favor. If you're going to charge alot of money for your lobster rolls please for the love of God put enough lobster meat on them. You're just cheating people with that nonsense. I've tried you guys three times and even in one instance I told the owner that people were complaining about that. Nothing has changed I will not be going back to lobster craft again unless they are more generous with their meat or they lower their prices. read more

I saw their setup from the street so I decided to stop in and check it out. I've heard REALLY great things and was excited to see for myself. As I approached, I was told that they were closing down for the day, 12:45pm and also dismissed as they also shared that they're CASH ONLY. Then everyone just turned and went about their business. SIMPLY RUDE. I don't need to return or have a desire to try your food after this awful service experience. read more

So I've been here twice. Once when it was a truck and then in the brick/mortar establishment. It's a bit overpriced for what you get. The lobster roll is about $30 but there's barely any on the roll. I ordered two, and I was still hungry. Not a ton of flavor either. read more

Heat Wave roll was great as suggested by the guy at the counter. My wife had bisque and liked it. The only negative is extremely limited seating and it is basically sitting on the street. Minor thing though. read more

Had the lobster roll of course and the bisque. Recommend dipping your roll in the bisque, very nice.

LobsterCraft was our 2nd choice and a big mistake. The Lazy Lobster in Milford was our destination but closed for the season, we should have waited. I wouldn't mind $90 for lobster rolls a clam chowder and a lobster bisque had the food been quality. It was not. The lobster meat was dry, fibrous and not fresh today. The clam chowder was standard at best but the lobster bisque was a poor approximation having more in common with a puréed vegetable soup. There's no lobster flavor except for the small lobster claw that accompanied the soup. And it wasn't fresh either. Save your money and your taste buds. read more

Best in the country? I wouldn't go that far, but it's really great--probably the best in CT. I've gone there twice and prefer the straightforward option. The spicy one doesn't feel like the heat infuses that well with the lobster. The staff is really cool. Very safe seeming, by the way, in terms of anti-covid practices. read more

Cannot imagine the hardship of having a restaurant during Covid. And with inflation. The salad was good. The Mac and cheese was good. The prices were high. For $40- you can go to Clinton and get lobster rolls twice as big. A "coastal" lobster roll here is $29. Another thing is the seasonings- I love old bay! But the NE clam chowder was a thin soup with hardly any clam pieces covered in Italian seasonings. It was definitely good for one time but we will stick to the shore! read more

Food: We ordered the Fatty Coastal Lobster Roll and Surf & Turf Lobster Roll. Each roll came with 1/4 lb. of buttery lobster and for $10, you can add 1/4 lb. more (which is what we did for the Coastal). The Coastal is the OG style lobster roll, with a buttery roll and lobster dipped in butter. It was delicious, however, my only complaint was the bread got soggy because the lobster was dipped in butter. The Surf & Turf came with 1/4 lb. of lobster meat and some shreds of beef. The roll stayed nice and toasted because the lobster was dipped in butter. My issue with this one was there was barely any "steak" and it was dry; it seemed more like a garnish for the roll. However, the garlic aioli on top was nice. Overall, the lobster meat was sweet and succulent and each roll came with a side of potato chips. We also ordered the Clam Chowder, which we thought was good and had a solid amount of clams. Experience: We went on a Saturday night around 6 pm and there was no one else there. It was kind of hard to find since it's in the back of a small plaza, however, there was plenty of parking. The gentleman who took our order and brought out the food was extremely attentive and made sure to take care of us. There are trashcans by the entrance so be sure to clean up after yourselves on the way out! Value: The Coastal was $31 ($21 base + $10 for fatty) and the Surf & Turf was $23. Even after considering how lobster is hella expensive, we thought it was priced a bit high for what it turned out to be. I will say that I think $10 to make it a fatty is fair. read more

Well worth the trip. Follow the directions and look around back. These lobster rolls are how I remember them as a kid visiting Maine. Perhaps better with a little bit of jalapeño to kick it up a notch. Both our rolls had large pieces of lobster. No questions about which parts. Fairfield has all these backlot type of areas where one can find great things. I can see myself now shooting the breeze with a friend... a lobster roll in one hand and a beer in the other. Check this place out! You won't be disappointed. read more

I wanted to like this local place but it was greatly disappointing. First they ran out of propane.....then the grill was broken.... we finally ordered 2 lobster rolls & 2 fries. I'm in love with their lobster rolls! Hubby and I trekked it here from NYC to satisfy our lobster roll cravings. Please note this is a small brick-and-mortar location (no seating inside, small section for seasonal outdoor seating) with a food truck available for private locations. I thought that would be worth noting because the Yelp description has it listed as a food truck so I didn't realize they had a physical location as well. This was not a huge deal for us as we planned on taking the food to go anyways. When we got back to our car to take a "bite" of our food, we completely demolished the lobster rolls and even considered going back in to get 2 more. Yes they are that good. The man who helped us (shoot didn't get his name) was super friendly and explained everything to us as well as popular picks. We ended up getting: Coastal Lobster Roll: Warm lobster roll served with a side of warmed butter. Hubby absolutely loved it. I took a bite of his - super packed with lobster and the soft toasted bread the perfect vessel. 5 stars Dirty Maynard: A traditional Maine lobster roll - probably the best lobster roll I've ever had. The seasoned mayo was perfectly balanced with the huge lobster pieces. 5 stars Clam chowder: Delicious! Once we got home we split this. It's very thick and creamy with notes of rosemary. Excellent 5 stars Lobster Bisque: I'm always super picky on lobster bisque. I order it everywhere I go and am normally disappointed. Not here! The bisque was smooth and creamy with a nice note of sherry. It was served with a small container of chopped lobster to be added in. This set it over the top. Delicious. I'm glad it was served on the side with the option to add as you please because I love my bisque smooth. 5 stars Lobster grilled cheese: A two-cheese lobster grilled cheese on sourdough. Another amazing pick. Hubby thought it was too cheesy. Is that even possible? Knocking off half a star because though it was good, I would not necessarily get it again. Nothing against it and maybe I'm bias because I ate it after the amazing lobster rolls. Lobster pot pie: Comes raw, to be heated at home. I followed the directions provided but pie was still very raw after 18 minutes at 350. Popped it in for another 10-15 and the crust puffed up and was nice and flaky. The bottom was soggy though. Maybe due to the filling? Hubby and I split it and both agreed it was just OK. 3 stars. We are already planning our next visit back to this place. Absolutely worth it! Thank you for your hospitality and great eats! read more

No. Hate to do it, but....this spot; NOT feelin it! Lobster was good! Fresh and tasty for sure. Shall i start with the 'less than personable' girl workin? The lunchtime emptiness of the place? The fact that, despite being the only patrons in the damn place, they still somehow managed to get our TWO orders...wrong! The 'chips', well, theyre chips, not like fish n chips fries, but potato chips! Slaw was tasty though, probably homeade. A slice or 2 of cucumber? A bite or 2 of avocado? An $18 sandwich!? Whaaaaat?! I take no joy in this, and like i said, the lobster was good, but this spot.....well, maaaaaaybe itll get better? But sandwiches starting at $16 (even in Darien)....probably need to either get a LOT bigger and better or they gotta bring the price down into the realm of sanity! Honestly, for whatcha get, the price is ridiculous! To go and get the wrong order, from someone who obviously would rather be doing anything but working there, and pay that kinda $....simply put; No. read more

This is my first Yelp review and I hope it helps this business--one month in Fairfield. Michael, at the "front desk," could not have been better. The $29 basic lobster roll? Plenty of lobster, but still...pricey $$. I ordered coleslaw for an extra $4. It was takeout and I live 15 minutes away, yet coleslaw was close to inedible. Can only imagine when it was made. Best wishes to this new business read more

I was so disappointed. I ordered a lobster roll. Real easy, basic. It was tough over cooked, dry and overpriced. With tax over $32.00. I grew up with having ten lobster pots and enjoyed the process. I had hoped that Lobster Craft would be a local source to enjoy lobster. Gosh even the parking lot was filled with potholes. I know and applaud a local business, but this business is just predatory.
