We always make a point of visiting Perkins Cove whenever we come to Ogunquit.

This year I went back with my children -- it's not huge and overwhelming and kids absolutely loved it. Ladies that work here were so kind and thoughtful to my kids -- they really help nurture young artists' minds. They even gave us little goodie bags with various arts supplies that my children loved. We are often quite impressed with the quality of the works exhibited. (All of the works are available for purchase.) The staff is knowledgeable and friendly -- there is no pressure to buy -- and the Barn in fact feels more like a museum than a retail gallery (it is a non-profit), except there is no permanent collection. We always feel welcome to visit and browse without any obligation to purchase. The Barn also hosts many workshops and seminars by local artists -- perfect for a quiet summer's eve!

Because it's an older theater, their solution to a smaller parking lot is to have everyone park in a long row, and they make you pull up so that you're bumper to bumper. If the cars in front of you hustle to the parking lot, it's fine. If they don't, you're stuck until they show up as the cars park so close you can't even get out. I don't love that, but there is nowhere else around to park nearby. The lobby is pretty small and gets very crowded before the doors open. There are snacks and souvenirs for purchase. They don't have a bag check, so I brought my own water, which was great. The theater itself is small and cozy, so most seats will have a good view. I saw Come from Away and was definitely seated closer and more affordably than I could have been in a NYC venue. The performers were all very talented - this isn't just some locals who got on stage. The warned many, many times there was no intermission, and they wouldn't let you back in if you needed to use the restroom, which seemed a bit extreme. There were a lot of other good shows in the upcoming season, so if you are from nearby or staying in the area, it's worth checking out what's on stage. It's a good experience at a good price.

When Norm heard that we wanted a photography tour, he did not disappoint. From moment one he had…read moreplanned out an itinerary of bucolic and iconic Maine sites. From the famous Portland Head Lighthouse to off the beaten path locations that no tourist ever attended, he found spots to take gorgeous photos and videos. Although the weather on the day we visited was overcast, Norm even planned for those weather contingencies and had multiple locations ready for us to film from. He helped to structure the tour so that lighting was best for the specific shot. Prior to our tour, Norm had also location scouted a variety of different locations so that he could recommend specific spots from which to film rather than us wasting time looking for a spot to shoot from. Norm was also extremely hospitable and friendly and epitomized Maine hospitality. Norm and his company have the flexibility to cater the tour to your exact specifications: You want local only food places for foodies; you want a tour in Cantonese or Portuguese; You want a tour of all lighthouses -- nothing was a problem. Norm also took us to a local restaurant that had some of the best clam chowder in the east coast, and the absolute best lemon mascarpone cheesecake that I have ever tasted in my life. Thank you Norm. We would never do Maine without first booking a tour with you.

He was so much fun, but moreso, very knowledgeable about the city, restaurants, and some of the historical landmarks. he was a very personable guy and you need that type of a personality on a 2 hour walk. It was one of the best parts about our trip to Portland. We were able to try some great local food and drinks and learn so much about a fantastic city! We will definitely be back. Twenty years or more ago when we were in Maine we happened on a performance by Maine based pianist…read morePaul Sullivan. It was at the now defunct Damariscotta Performing Arts Center, housed in a converted barn still faintly redolent of pigeons. We learned about the performance on a now defunct local radio station, WAVX and bought tickets. It was a rainy night and we had a short drive back to the B&B where we were staying in Wiscasset. The concert was wonderful and we bought all 5 of his CDs, which we continue to enjoy. We are planning a trip back to Maine the end of August. Today I received an email from Paul Sullivan about summer concerts he will be performing. The final one will be September 6th, in Ogunquit, where we will be staying. We were due to leave Ogunquit that day for Rockport, but have rearranged our schedule so we can attend the concert that night and move to Rockport the next day. I bought a couple of tickets online via the Ogunquit Performing Arts website. The process was easy and prices were extremely reasonable. We are looking forward to this treat.
