Just a regular loblaws in my opinion. Definitely better than the one on Empress Walk (Yonge st), in terms of cleanliness and organization. I can usually pretty quickly find what I need to and head off. I will say, the produce section looks fine, but in the other aisles, I've found expired stuff a few times now. I don't know that they're even aware or checking... There's so many staff walking around but I don't really know what they're doing. I've needed help on the rare occasion, and they weren't really very friendly. I'd say most the time I was met with a "mhm.. k...." I know it's not the most exciting job in the world, but it would help a lot to not feel like you're super annoyed with a customer. Otherwise it's usually pretty organized and quite clean. Loblaws layouts are pretty much the same everywhere - gives you the same shopping experience and familiarity of where things are. Sometimes they have good sales going on, but be careful - it's not always a better price. Know your prices! read more

Freshly baked Apple Turnovers. Amazing, crispy, and not too sweet. Perfect for my tastes ! Bought 2 packages of 4. My wife and I ate 2 each already. Best Apple Turnovers. 10/10 this time. Best ever! If you buy, try to get the fresh ones, baked on the day of your purchase, otherwise, not so good. But we put them in toaster oven for about 3 minutes, then let it cool down, it becomes crispy again. Otherwise its a bit slimy, not my cup of tea. We do this for muffins also. Also bought a loaf of one day old Sourdough bread, toasted it and ate with butter. Pretty good. 7/10. read more

The store is spacious and plenty of parking spots are available in Bayview Village Mall parking; indoor parking is also available and more convenient because the main entrance opens in the indoor parking. It has a great collection of fresh vegetables and fruits. The staff are helpful and friendly; the store is clean and well-maintained. I really enjoyed my experience with pc cooking school here and highly recommend attending one of the insider classes. The one I tend to do every year is the holiday insider class and it is very affordable and and an excellent value of what you get. This year chef Martin did a great job of explaining all the products used and combined some great food items together. Try the class at least one as a fun alternative to buying out food. read more

Some great deals to be found if you're in a rush, but the Yelp reviews speak truly when they say the service leaves something to be desired. Walking into this Loblaws for the first time leaves you feeling a bit bewildered. The place is sprawling and has a ton of selection, and there are some great deals to be found if you're looking. I needed to pick up ground beef for a barbecue happening that night, and was able to pick up a pound-and-a-half of extra lean beef at 50% off (just over $9, down from nearly $20). Not only that, but they had a decent selection of wine and beers if you're looking to pick something up for a party. With that selection comes a handful of caveats, though. The layout of the store is a tad weird. The Ziggy's salads are tucked away in a corner near an elevator right beside vitamin drinks. which makes it nigh-impossible to find if you're searching for them. Some of the vegetables could be fresher - I was a bit disappointed to see most of the heads of iceberg lettuce were browning. A lot of the frozen items also looked to be freeze-dried and generally not worth picking up. Service is also hit-or-miss. While I will never say no to taking multiple free samples, the woman manning the sample desk in the produce section that day seemed a bit spaced-out and not focused on what she was doing. Employees walk through the store with blank looks on their faces, as if they'd rather be somewhere else. The cashier I went to seemed dour and not really caring about anything in general. In summary, the Loblaws at Bayview does have some potential and great deals if you know what you want. You just need to keep your expectations firmly in check, however. read more

Easily the worst supermarket I've been to. The only contender would perhaps be the Loblaws at Empress Walk. I regularly find expired items on shelf that are not marked down and have, on occasion, unwittingly purchased spoiled food (yogurt, bread, etc.) requiring an additional trip to the store to return the item. The quality and availability of produce is inconsistent. The most frustrating part is paying a premium to shop at a higher end supermarket. Though they belong to the same parent company, I've found my local No Frills to offer a much better selection on produce as well as non-western ingredients and at a much much lower price. read more

Horrible management, always, even before the pandemic! The flyer comes every Thursday and nothing is stocked on the shelves until Saturday! Then again, on Monday, the shelves are empty! Low quality pastry section, just a few items, no juice, no meat, no eggs! Horrible customer service at this loblaws location for the century. Second time here and 2/2 times with terrible customers service. All they have said and including the manager Tyler S. "nothing I can do". The lady who works at the customer service desk has bad attitude too. This location is at bayview village? What a joke! Today they scanned wrong price for my groceries and they only compensate for one pack out of 3 packs of different flavor sausages I got. Different flavor means different label and different scan codes. According to the Canadian council of grocery distributors, code of practice; scanner price accuracy voluntary code policy 1.1a if product is $10 or less, the retailer will give product to customer free of charge. They claim they can only give one pack for free, because they mislabeled only one type. The rest of the different sausages do not even have a label when this situation happened. (They have taken off the labels at the same time this has happened because when I was shopping for the products, there were labels. labels was wrong price compared to scanned at cashier. They claimed products isn't mislabeled, products just don't have a label.) Anyway my point isn't about the money, it's about the code of practice and ethics. Retail employees are portraying strong, stubborn attitude plus repetitively stating there's nothing they can do with no explanation or reasoning. Instead of solving the problem, satisfying customers' upset feeling, they irritated even more. I don't mind paying, I just need an apology for the mistakes of how terrible this disorganized store is managed. read more

Very fancy Loblaw's with a florist and Leonidas chocolate place. Prices here are equally fancy - probably not all that much different for Pussy-Terry's down at the other end of the mall. I go here for convenience needs because it is close to my home but as I am no longer a rich yuppie bastard but rather a poor ornery middle-aged bastard I can't afford to shop here on a regular basis. If you ARE a rich yuppie bastard, go here and enjoy. If not, go to a No Frill's or a Loblaws in a part of town farther away from Hogg's Hollow. One thing I credit them for is having very polite and helpful checkers - presumably they pay them more than at the other stores. read more

This is strictly for the service I received at the photo centre. Had to get passport pics for my child. Just a note that Costco doesn't take passport photos of babies and I didn't want to pay a ton at the passport office and chose Loblaws based on a friend's suggestion. The Assistant Manager Daryn S was very informative. He warned me it might not work cuz it is difficult taking photos of babies/toddlers as they can move a lot. If it didn't, he wasn't going to print it. Fair enough. I told them let's try anyway and seriously hoped my kid would cooperate. Fortunately it turned out. Daryn also said he will delete the pics after it's been printed as they always mention to mothers. That was appreciated. Cost was $14.99 and ready within a few mins. read more

I have falling in love with this Loblaw's at Bayview Village! I used to frequent the one at Empress Walk or Hogg's Hollow but this location is much bigger and cleaner without the funky smells like the Empress location would sometimes have. I love the wide aisles, never have to worry about someone running you over with a shopping cart. The shelves are always well stocked unless something happens to be on sale then you might have to find someone to bring it out of the back because they usually just haven't had time to replace that particular item. There is a florist and Leonidas chocolates downstairs along with one of those Redbox Movie machines that seems to be appearing at every Loblaws, Superstore etc. to compete with the Zip Kiosk's located in Metro stores. Also now with the new PC Plus Points program which is only being accepted at their Loblaws locations for the exact moment you get even more rewards for shopping at their store and more reasons to love to shop here! Cashier Saira seems to either not comprehend people skills or common sense... not sure which. Basically I let my toddler tap my credit card when paying because it makes him happy. He has done this for months and is quite proficient at it however sometimes he doesn't hold the card in place and it takes a few extra seconds to actually go through. This girl decides to grab my sons hand and tap it for him. I immediately put on an angry face and decided to shake my head "no" at her. We made eye contact so I thought she understood. We go in for a 2nd tap (1st was for points), she grabs his hand again. Perhaps I should have released my verbal tyrade on her but thought I would just call the manager of the store... kept calling but no answer so I am resorting to this. Best to shop here after 8 or 9 p.m. 'though selection at that time might be less than perfect the staff in the evening are really sweet avoid the evil self checkout it's a toss up. fools in huge SUV's earlier in the day VS reduced selection of bread/on sale products and produce later in the evening (shelves often have bald spots) terrible meat selection,all the time. the organic/natural selection is quite good only used this pharmacy once- slow, minimal response,scant information if you are getting (and trust me this never happens) only a few items that you can easily carry, park 'way out' in the lot i:e: closer to the Sheppard/Bayview intersection OR carefully (really carefully) drive past the doors in the undercover/underground parking and swirl your way down to the lower level. It's great there. Just be sure to stay on your side of the yellow line. leave your bulky coat in the car and take the elevator right up to the shopping level. THAT is the best part of shopping there there is a very good flower selection lousy lousy lousy usually unclean washroom near the flowers,they could do MUCH better for bulk canned goods,rice and some ethnic products and most of my fruit and veg I go to the Vic Park No Frills so this Loblaws is for stuff i need and don't want to drive too far from home but i only go there in the evening read more

Wide selection of everything here. This place is huge and can be daunting when looking for one specific item. They have an organic health area to compete with whole foods I assume where you can find Bragg Apple cider vinegar. I also like this place because they got some good sales on beef. Got a beef roast for 3.99/lb - check the picture - $13 for all that beef. Definitely take a look at the flyers before you go because their are some good sales to be had. They have underground parking at this location and leads you directly into the store. I see a lot of old grandmas get picked up by taxi on their way out. Pretty cute I'd say. read more

I've shopped here at least once a week for over two years and it hasn't changed much. There are some fun "movators" to get in and out of the store, but parking isn't very organized so I find it much easier to shop here as a pedestrian. Also, the drivers themselves are aggressive and even leave notes written on paper towels (stuck under a windshield wiper), explaining that the other driver "really needs driving lessons". I guess that's as passive-aggressive as it gets here at Bayview Village. The stock here is okay but it varies - some weeks they run short on produce but they generally have whatever I need. I prefer No-Frills pricing but this place is more convenient to walk to. There is an extensive Kosher selection of foods available here. read more

I like the organic section at this Loblaws because it's larger than the one at Empress Walk. This location also seems to have more square footage, is better organized & tidier. The garden section though doesn't have much other than over priced tulip bulbs & some seasonal plants. Cooked food section is good sized. And I like that they have the bread slicer out in the open where it's self-serve so you don't have to wait around forever for someone to help you. Also lots of cashiers to check you out. This can be your ideal local grocery store. It is in the fantastic upscale Bayview Village mall. There are the general items and also they have a florist, cigarette store, optical store and laundry. There is a pharmacy and there is the express check out counter. I love the bakery and as I have the chance to slice the bread through a machine. I was both surprised and skeptical to see that this Loblaw's has such mediocre reviews. That's because I used to enjoy shopping at the Loblaw's at St. Clair West and Bathurst when we lived in that area. So today when we felt like having roast chicken we didn't hesitate to go to this one. We should've listened to Yelp reviewers. To make a long story short, none of the five employees we dealt with even bothered to crack a smile, and the automated tills were a pain to figure out (Ikea does a far better job with theirs). Worse still, the roast chicken had skin as crispy as a wet blanket; the soggy fries tasted like they'd been fried last week; the coleslaw had way too much vinegar; and the apple pie crust was too fatty and too soggy. read more

I called Loblaws customer service to ask if they have different hours for the passport photo service, and the lady on the phone(very inattentive) said I can come anytime during the store hours. I went there yesterday with photo ready hair and makeup, and guess what? They said they cannot provide the service because no one is available?!? According to the person at the customer service who was there yesterday, only managers can do that and all three managers are not around. I asked how long do I need to wait, and she asked me to come back maybe tomorrow. Very annoyed with the fact that I've been told that I can come ANYTIME during the store hours and then this happened. OK, so I'm from California and had no idea what Loblaws was. Apparently, it's a huge supermarket chain and is towards the higher end of the pricing spectrum. The ground floor has a florist, a chocolatier, a dry cleaner and a cigarette shop. Upstairs is a deli, a bakery, a produce section, frozen foods, personal items, etc. They have some of the most AMAZING cheeses and it's easy to put together a simple meal with ingredients from the various departments if you know what you're looking for. The checkout people were nice and everyone we asked for help was polite and helpful. The market is big and there are lots of shoppers, but it's easy to navigate, is well-lit and laid out. My cousins like to laugh at me because I've never seen milk in bags before. It's just not something we do here in California. Nor do we recycle so damn much. What is it with you people? We have to be bribed to do it. But I digress... :) read more

A few days ago I bought an item on sale for $3.99 but there was only one. I went back to get three and, while the "Sale" shelf talker was still there for it and another one with a different flavour, there was no price for either. At the checkout I was charged $4.99. I went to Customer Service where I was told that the manager for that department, Dairy, was not in [later I was told he was on vacation]. I was told that there was no way they could check and it probably was $4.99 and the manager [the one who was away] probably didn't take away the "Sale" sign. I asked to speak to the store manager. She was paged and called back by phone. Again I was told that it "probably" was $4.99. I asked to speak to the manager in person. She was paged and eventually came. She said that she was the acting manager and was actually with the meat department. I pointed out that sales usually end after a week which would be the next day. She said that lots of prices go up and down daily. In spite of there being the two "Sale" signs and in spite of there not being a dairy manager, she was adamant that the price being charged would be $4.99. I said I would write a negative review on the internet and she told me to go ahead. I like the store. The atmosphere is nice and it is easy to find necessary items. However, I have one concern. That concern is the amount of wasabi served with sushi. I love sushi and I have been buying sushi from this Loblaws for years. However, every single year or so the amount of wasabi served with sushi gets smaller and smaller and smaller. I bought sushi today again once visiting Loblaws and I did not look at the amount of wasabi I got as I was in a hurry. When I got home I was so disappointed as there was a tiny drop of wasabi in the container that came with nine sushi pieces! Needless to say, it ruined my whole experience and I could not enjoy my sushi at all because of the lack of the wasabi. I also wanted to mention that their sushi is not cheap so I do not understand why they try to save on wasabi when they charge a reasonable amount for sushi. First, I find this Loblaws to be interesting. Underground parking, putting the buggy on the movator, etc. This place is interesting, but once you head up to the store, it seems just like a basic grocery store, just expensive. $14.99 CAD for Salami?! What?! Oh well, but to pick up pre-made food here, I definitely wouldn't recommend it. Not all that good here. I genuinely love this location. But once I had to order a cake, it was so difficult. I went in on a Wednesday and the lady told me to order it on Thursday. Thursday was the day they receive the cake orders. So, I called to place the order. The guy said to call back in 2 to 3 days because the order could be lost. I called back within 2-3 days and I was told I cannot reserve the cake I wanted, which is a cake they usually have but sells out fast. So then, I was told to come in to pick it up but because I wanted that specific cake, it's not guaranteed I'd get it. What the hell, the bakery dept needs to work on the pre-ordering process to avoid this useless hassle I went through. Such a piss off. read more

It is impossible to view cash register activity because of bright sunlight. After paying, reviewed receipt and found that the cashier overcharged by misidentifying an item. I said "excuse me, would you please adjust?" and I was informed that I would "have to go to the customer service desk" which 1. happens to be on the other side of the store and 2. would have to line up again. Loblaws, for gawd's sake why do you allow cashiers to key in whatever code, under or overcharging right left and centre, but not empower the same cashiers to correct a small discrepancy within a capped amount? My local Food's Basic's supervisor would have arrived at the cash in a flash to approve the adjustment. Dismal service Loblaws!!!! read more
