Definitely some of the most stunning views in LA. You come here for the views and expect to pay a hefty LA price for the drinks... but on a clear day... spectacular! Service is fast and friendly. On this last visit I just had a mocktail and my friend had a cocktail and was able to substitute the liquor which was great. My mocktail was the Peachwood Elixir but it tasted more like a kombucha than peach which wasn't bad but just expect that when you get it (I think it was because of the ginger). After 5 pm you can also order food which is coming from the restaurant on the 71st floor so there are a few more options than the Spire 73 bar on the rooftop. I was a bit disappointed that they've long taken off the pizzas that were amazing on the menu when I had them last year but I guess they probably take too long to make and the hotel is probably looking for more efficient service all around (I wouldn't mind those coming back though!). Parking at the Intercontinental is valet only and the restaurants it's $15 for 2.5 hours and additional for time after or you can try for local lots in the area or street parking as well. read more

What a happy accident that my boyfriend and I stumbled upon the Lobby Lounge. We were looking for Niku, and the sign for "restaurant" said 70th floor so we took the elevator to 70th floor. Turns out we were in the wrong spot, we discovered the lovely view and the Lobby Lounge so we decided to come back after dinner to enjoy drinks and a view of the LA night sky. We were lucky and seized a seat with a prime view. There were QR codes of the menu from some of the tables, so we went over to one and scanned it. Staff never came by to take our order so my boyfriend went to the bar to order and close out. 18% AUTOMATIC GRATUITY for no service at all. You are really paying for the view, make the most out of it. My boyfriend had their Garden & Ginger ($18) and I had a Lady in Purple ($23). My drink was great. Came with a beautiful flower. Matched with my purple nails. Once again, stunning view. If you treat it like an admission to seeing an attraction, it might soften the emotional toll of their prices and automatic gratuity. There were a lot of people that night, but the bartender was very nice. I visited LA one weekend a few months ago to trade in my car for a new model. As I'm a fan of InterContinental Hotels, I arranged to spend the night at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown. Well, imagine my absolute surprise when I learned the lobby of this hotel is on the 70th floor of an absolutely massive ultra-modern skyscraper smack-dab in the middle of DTLA! It's beyond anything I could easily imagine (and I can imagine A LOT!), so when I strolled out of the elevator lobby I immediately noticed a bar to my left in the distance. That was definitely where I was heading after I got myself settled into my room. The bar takes up the southwest corner of the building, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering one of the best views of Los Angeles I've ever seen. It practically felt like I was in the Sky Lounge at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, only this place is much brighter and more open. Not too many people were at the bar considering it was a Friday afternoon just around quitting time for the work week. The bartender seemed a bit overwhelmed (he spent a long time trying to explain to an uncomprehending customer about the charges incurred on his bill), but eventually got around to me. I ordered my usual Whiskey Sour, as I'll judge any bar in the world on how they're made. Bonus for egg whites! The bartender delivered marvelously on this and I think I had two more. :-) The sunset was the best I've ever seen anywhere on the West Coast! However, the burger was a little too salty for my liking. The same goes for the parmesan fries. If I ever ordered this again, I'd request not to add too much salt. THE DRINKS DRUNK. - Los Angelenos | Pretty strong whiskey cocktail, similar to an Old Fashioned. - Downtown Sunrise | Reminds me of a whiskey infused Mai Tai. I liked this cocktail a lot. THE VIBE EVOCATION. Modern vibes with a beautiful suspended glass shelf above the bar where liquor bottles are showcased. The bar can seat about 15 people, but where you want to be is at one of those coveted tables next to the windows! THE PARKING AFFAIR. Parking is valet only. Its the first Mediocre Mon of the year! After a biz event in DTLA, my socio and I decided to hit LL at the Intercontinental to grab a nightcap and watch the rest of the Celtics vs Lakers game. The experience was like the game: A great first part, followed by a collapse at the end of the game. The view and ambiance are very nice. The lobby of this hotel is near the top of the bldg, vs most hotels where it is on the ground floor. However, the wagyu burger was not worth the $30 price tag. It was more bun vs burger, and the bacon jam did nothing to enhance the burger (similar to Father's Office). Likewise, the fries were a bit cool bc the food took a long time to arrive. It had obvi been sitting too long. I can't remember our waiter's name, but he was inattentive. We wanted to order more drinks, and we wanted some water, but we couldn't find him. All in all, a mediocre experience vs the rooftop bar, Spire 73. We didn't go there bc we wanted to watch the game, and there is a cover later in the evening. read more

The hubby and I Cruised by here for a quick drink before dinner. I'm custom to making Expresso Martinis for myself, and I am rarely pleased with all the premade cold brew martini drinks .. blah . Hands down, our bartender TIM made an EXCELLENT Expresso Martini...and believe me, I'm quick to send a drink back with no shame. Additionally, Tim made a perfect Lemon drop& my hubby toes curled after one sip of his dirty martini. We ordered the wings & artichoke dip which were average, but tasty. The Lobby Lounge is on the 70th Floor of the Intercontinental in DTLA where you can also find the lobby. The drinks are pricier than other bars, but you are paying for the fantastic view of the city. It's so strange being so high up and looking down at all the places you walked or drove by and how tiny they are. There is plenty of seating, so enjoy a drink by the window. Lobby Lounge is an excellent ALTERNATIVE BAR located on the 70th floor of Intercontinental Los Angeles Downtown. We initially wanted to check out Spire 73 (73rd floor), but they have a minimum charge of $60 per person on a Saturday evening. However, I did not want our lovely evening to go to waste, so we decided to check out this upscale bar next to the hotel check-in. Fortunately, we found a table available by the window. The view at the top was amazing was so was the drink. I ordered RYE MANHATTAN (Templeton rye, Cinzano 1757, vermouth, angostura bitters). It was served in a martini glass and had a nice strong kick. The atmosphere was excellent, with plenty of tables evenly distant from one another. Come here around 10 pm, and you will witness the moon rise behind the US Bank Tower. It was a spectacular sight to see. Make sure to ask for a parking validation. You will save $5, which is not enough to cover the fee. read more

We have had drinks here a few time and have enjoyed all our visits. You don't have to be a guest at the hotel to visit the lobby bar. Was in town for a work event and the weather was rainy so we were looking for a walkable but nice meal near Koreatown. Decided to take a bet on whatever restaurant offerings the Intercontinental Hotel presented. It was unusual but enjoyable that the hotel's actual lobby was on the 70th floor. You step off the elevator and are welcomed by a magnificent view of LA. We sat at very small tables for 2 adjacent to the bar with window views. Service was pretty fast and friendly. We decided against full dinner and opted for tapas. We preferred truffled artichoke dip, the angus sliders and veg egg rolls. Everything came out as expected. My fav were the sliders. The table was almost too small for those 3 plates so definitely sit at the bar of York have something more substantial. While there are many places that offer a wonderful menu, if you want to socialize or have a drink this is a go to. The view is magnificent! read more

I'd say the quality is pretty good, but it's not very tasty. We had lobster rolls and the hamburger. Both over $30. Both not bad, but not very tasty at all. They do make killer drinks though. The Canadian old-fashioned is one of the best I've found in town. $18. They make it just right. I also had the Little Tokyo.$17. It's based on Suntori whiskey and lemon juice. It's good, but the old-fashioned is way better. Service is a little spotty, but you can always belly up to the bar if you want to get your drink more quickly. I've been to this bar a handful of times and I really freaken love it. It's classy, it's elegant, it overlooks DTLA. I have to particularly shout out to Eugene and Luis. They both are so fun and they make the yummiest drinks! My two favorite drinks are whiskey sour with egg whites, up and this spicy tequila jalapeño something that Luis makes. YUM. It'll tickle you in ways you didn't know you could be tickled. They are both always so welcoming and fun to small talk with. I definitely recommend stopping by here if you're in DTLA and want somewhere chic and fun to grab a drink. There are also bar foods you can order. I've only tried a few but all delicious as well. My cheesecake was delicious. Quite possibly the best cheesecake, fresh berries, and cream I've tasted. Tip: Be sure to input floor number on the keypad BEFORE you board the elevator...there aren't any buttons inside the elevator. We went on a Monday afternoon right before the began to set. But be sure to read the fine print at the bottom of the menu: "18% automatic gratuity will be added for parties with up to 5 guests [not more than five, up to five], and 20% gratuity will be added for 6 guests or more." My server Andrew went above and beyond to take care of us, and the drinks were amazing. We didn't try anything to eat because we were heading to dinner. Located inside the intercontinental hotel, which I believe is the tallest building in Los Angeles, the views here are impeccable! The drinks are top notch as well. Some of the cocktails are tad pricey. However, combined with the atmosphere and view, it's worth it. The Lobby Lounge was amazing. The drinks are that of vegas prices, but I mean, you're 70 floors up, with a great view...pay the price. They have over a hundred vodka selection to choose from. If you ask nicely, they might give you an unopened one to take home..but don't ask if you're not ordering anything, that's weird. The view is definitely unbeatable...for a bar setting. I took a stroll around the large space and eventually went to the restroom. You get to pee on the glass, facing the horizon!!!! I felt like I was peeing on top of the world!!! So much easier than we expected...a week before My friend had experienced the elevator 1at fuckery but we had to issue or wait getting up to the 70th. Yes, there was a line of 10 people or so but we got waved through for some Reason. I think the line may have been for spire73 only. This hotel's lobby is on the 70th. Hotel guests use a different elevator to get to their rooms. I've heard the logistics suck...that said the bar was lovely, the view is amazing and the drinks were not trying too hard. Strolled in on a Sunday afternoon to check out the new Wilshire Grand building. Lobby Lounge is on the 70th floor, also the same level as the hotel lobby (hence "lobby" lounge). Surrounded by windows from every direction, you can get amazing views of all of Los Angeles when the day and sky are clear. I agree with other reviews that if you don't want to wait to go up to Spire 73, it is much quicker and easier to head to the 70th floor. The service was a bit slow even though it wasn't busy at all, but this is probably due to a new spot still trying to figure things out. I had the Huntington Garden drink, good + strong. ($17) and shared the tiramisu triffle with a friend. Surprisingly, airy and not too sweet. The lounge couches and easy going vibe make this an ideal spot to catch up with friends or have a "me" day. Food and drinks are pretty pricy but probably what you would expect for being at a nice hotel. Also, the lounge is located next to the hotel room elevators. Since it was a Sunday, it wasn't too busy but I could see the lounge being more packed during check in and check out times. read more
