Just left Aces, been coming here for a lot of years. But today will be my last…read more I ordered 2 omelets 1 veggie with turkey sausage added, 1 Spinach omelet w cheese and turkey bacon added. 2cups of coffee. Bill: $41.00. both of our grits were returned, they must have run out from the morning rush bec our grits were like eating fork fulls of sand. (Sent them both back immediately) my home fries, tasted like they were sitting on the grill for 3 days. OLD as siht. (didn't eat at all) . Asked for the menu back to see if the prices were were charged coincided with our bill. our omelets listed at $12 ea plus $1 for extras and 2 cups of coffee @ $2 ea. Call the manager over to explain her bill and of course she had another way of billing us. .The peppers and onions cooked into my home fries and my turkey bacon was an additional $5, our 2 cups of coffee was $5 ea. (apparently a sm mug of coffee equals a lg coffee bec its refillable) nevermind the sz of the cup. None of the add-on charges were ever mentioned while we were placing our order. Only after we inquired did we receive clearage as to what was going on. and although I was charge $5 for my disgusting grits and home fries, she would only remove $1 from the bill even though we didn't eat but half of the meals. Even our homemade toast was burnt and returned. Honestly, I feel she should have deducted one of our meals completely but I'm sure that never crossed her mind. The positive to our visit? The coffee was good and the waitress was attentive and very curteous. This long time visitor is no more. I've had ups and downs b4 with Aces but never this bad. Time to move on to better pastures.

The wait staff is mostly the Mom type ladies and very efficient and your name automatically becomes"Hon" The portions are nice and you won't leave hungry here. I usually order breakfast no matter what time of day I'm there. Their coffee is better than most dinners, good and strong. The pancakes are good, nice and fluffy and they cook eggs just the way you order them. The breakfast meats aren't greasy, but the home fries are so-so. Like most dinners Empire has a huge selection of desserts and baked goods. Very colorful and delicious looking, but they don't have that buttery richness that I crave. All in all, a good blue collar place to eat.

Noticing I did not get comfortable the woman taking my order noticed I wanted my order to go yet still asked to confirm. Just about EVERYTHING on the menu was under 5 bucks and more impressively this place has many regulars in which staff even has their orders memorized. They have one woman conduct with the chefs to take orders and handle food and another handles the dirty money. This gave me peace of mind and a lasting first impression. Highly recommended despite the reputation of the neighborhood.

I had asked about ingredients on some of the menu items, and the server was good about checking on that and getting back to me. I decided on the Cedar Park Special Wrap, which checked the boxes of ingredients I was trying to avoid, and another server came by to inform me that there's been a change to the ingredients - it says that it includes turkey, but they don't stock cold cuts anymore, so they offered chicken instead. I was totally fine with the substitution, but thought it was a bit funny that they hadn't updated the menu to account for that. All that said, everything tasted great - the chicken wrap and the fries, and service was pretty quick. AC was struggling, but other than that, it was a good experience, and I'd be down to go back!

The menu is limited to breakfast items and lunch fare but it's well worth a visit. Special diets, such as halal, are accomodated. The cooks really know what they are doing; I am particular about eggs over medium and they get them perfect every time. The diner is located catty-corner from the exit to the Market-Frankford line, at the 60th Street station. Don't be put off by the location, all you suburbanites. Make the trip and enjoy!

Coming in here you have the dining tables to the left (each section having its own jukebox!) where you can sit and relax while enjoying your meal, and the right has more seating by the counter. I feel the people here are kind and great cooks. I was pleasantly surprised I forgot they offer oatmeal (labeled on the menu as "hot cereal") so I got that with a veggie omlette with cheese. Everything was delicious. I was also happy to see it was busier than usual probably due to their slight change in hours (Note: Unless this had always been their schedule. It always seemed it closed earlier than it could be convenient arrive to sit and eat here). But they were doing well and chatting with folks. Coming here I kind of felt like family. That should be the vibe of a diner like this, and I hope you get to experience that here as well!

You ever try a place because it's there?…read more Yeah. That was me today. I like diners. I drive past this place every now and then. I just decided that they were getting a shot today. And the best way I know how to describe this is that there was nothing bad about my experience. It was fine. It was also nothing special. My French Toast was good. It was good enough. It wasn't gourmet by any means. It was just decent. No real distinctive flavor to it but not bad at all. And service was friendly to me. Standard diner service all the way. Don't expect much. I didn't.

The dining room is beautifully decorated--perfectly lit for an evening meal with warm, cozy candlelit tables. The seating is spaced comfortably apart, allowing for private conversation, especially on a night that isn't overly crowded. It's an ideal spot for date night. The restaurant is BYOB, and I noticed they also offer mocktails on the menu. We began with soup. The lobster bisque was savory and flavorful, featuring a plump piece of lobster in the center. The New England clam chowder was also thoroughly enjoyed. There's a wide selection of entrées, and we appreciated the recommendations on the most popular dishes. In addition to steak, poultry, and seafood, the menu also includes a section dedicated to vegan entrées. I ordered the lump crab cake as my entrée, and we also had the fried red snapper. Although the crab cake was lump rather than jumbo lump, it was well seasoned and not overloaded with filler. It was generously sized, filling, and served with a citrus remoulade that complemented it nicely. The whole red snapper was a generous market-priced portion, perfectly coated and fried. The fish was moist, flavorful, and cooked just right--not overdone. Each entrée is thoughtfully garnished; the red snapper was served with fried plantain and mango salsa, which paired beautifully. Sides are served à la carte. We chose the lobster mac and cheese and sautéed spinach. We also ordered the calamari a bit later but enjoyed it before our entrées arrived. It was crispy and drizzled with a sauce that balanced sweetness with a subtle kick of heat. The lobster mac and cheese featured pasta (think it was cavatappi) in a rich, creamy cheese like gouda, topped with a generous piece of lobster. The sautéed spinach was lightly seasoned and cooked perfectly, complementing the meal well. Overall, the dishes were well balanced and full of flavor. We didn't have room for dessert this time, but on our next visit I'd love to try either the butter cake or the bread pudding
