0 Stars -- Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more My husband and I came to HomeSense to shop, and unfortunately, what happened at checkout completely changed the way I feel about this location. While we were checking out, Jonathan, the manager, began making homophobic comments about my husband and me, apparently not realizing that I understand Spanish. I may not look like I speak Spanish, but I understood what was being said. Hearing those comments from a manager was completely inappropriate and unacceptable. I have been a loyal customer at this HomeSense since this location opened over six years ago. My husband and I genuinely love the products and the store, which makes this experience even more disappointing. It's very difficult to feel comfortable returning to a store where a manager thinks it's acceptable to make comments about customers because they are a same-sex couple. This is exactly the kind of experience that pushes loyal customers away from physical stores and toward shopping online instead. HomeSense management should take this seriously. No customer should be made to feel unwelcome or disrespected simply for shopping with their spouse.

Was promised a new table and 2 chairs would arrive in around 6 weeks.... never came. Now I understand the business was sold to "new ownership", in August. However, phone number, email, and Yelp are all still active and in use. The current contacts at the business chatted with me a bit and provided a number for the old manager. There was some sincerely there but honestly the whole situation is VERY FISHY and understand other people are calling with similar issues and paid for products they never received. If the new folks are truly innocent of the scams that were being run through this place, suggest distancing themselves as much as possible from the poor reputation and shady dealings of this business.

Let me begin by stating this is a review pertaining to an online order. I have never been to the…read moreshowroom in Yonkers, NY. Ironically, had I visited the store in person, I never would have purchased this item because I would have seen it and been able to judge in person whether or not I believed it to be authentic. Instead, I relied on the photo and description that was provided online: "Antique Green Glaze Garden Temple Tile. Late-19th-century Chinese green glazed ceramic garden temple tile from the Hunan province." The photo and description of the tile for sale online do not match the tile I received. I contacted Harlan Rose, the manager of the store to explain that I thought the tile was a reproduction, he responded with, "Well this is a he said-she said situation." I tried to explain that no, it was not, since I had three original antique tiles that I had owned for many years, and I was trying to replace a fourth one that had broken, so I knew what the authentic tile would look like, and the one I received from FEA did not look like the three I had. I know they are handmade, and I know the color tones vary. But it was more than that. I told him the one I received was smaller, thinner, and heavier. It also smelled like fresh paint or lacquer. I told him that in my opinion, it seemed more like a reproduction, similar to the types that are sold online as "tiki tiles." Again he said, "Well it's a he said-she said situation." The return policy of the shop is that the customer owes shipping postage, both directions. And, once the item is received back, the store will keep a 25% "restocking" fee. I paid $75 for shipping to me, and I know it would cost at least that much for me to return it. After the 25% "restocking" fee, there would be virtually nothing left to my refund. Harlan offered me some sort of a discounted amount of a store credit if I returned the item, which I declined since I do not live near Yonkers. His final offer was to refund my $75 shipping cost, allow me to keep the tile that does not match my other three, and be out $290. In my opinion, I had no choice but to accept. I did receive my $75 back, but I am in possession of a tile for which I paid $290 and cannot use. I personally would never buy online from this store again. I was not happy with the customer service treatment I received. I do not believe I received the item that was described online as being a 19th century antique--just my opinion, but I wish someone had warned me in a review prior to my purchase so that I would have saved $290.

The cashier refused to bag my items because she claimed they're my own personal bags. What in the world. What happened to the days when cashiers would bag groceries. I had a number of items and the customer behind me was waiting because she was too lazy to help me bag. I got upset and she claimed that I was being nasty with her which was absurd. I was definitely incredulous because I couldn't believe that she said she wouldn't help me bad because they were my bags. She claimed that it was store policy which is absurd I could see if I was in the self-checkout Lane yes I would buy my own items but I had over 20 items to scan. These kids these days are so lazy. Ever since I bought my first place a couple of years ago I've made periodic trips to one of their stores to browse and pick up a few pieces. This particular location in Scarsdale is pretty new, and since I wanted to get a statement piece for my mantel, I decided to take a drive and check the store out. This HomeGoods opened a couple of months ago - it used to be a Staples but was closed, gutted, and reopened as the aforementioned. Construction was quick, and since the space was super large I was looking forward to the amount of stock and variety they would have. I don't feel I was let down - there was a lot of stock all over the store and it was pretty well organized. As always, you really need to look and have a little patience when browsing. There's really not much more to say other than that I'm a fan of this HomeGoods - it's bright, spacious, and has a good selection of merch; plus, all the staff I encountered were friendly. While I would probably opt to visit a location closer to where I live, it's good to know this new spot delivers the (home) goods.

For small home decor accessories like small end tables, benches and accent pieces, I go to Home Sense, HomeGoods, etc. Hell- I even go to thrifts stores to find "that" unique piece. But there's a difference between ridiculous and affordable. The first of the two, is where Safavieh is at. On Central Ave in Hartsdale, Safavieh has plenty to choose from to decorate your living room, family room and bedroom and they've been doing so for a long time. I recently found a Safavieh brand, small 2x4 rug for my galley kitchen at on online store but tried my luck here and see if they have that style so I can whisk it away. Only available rugs are large Persian area ones with the exception of just 2 small rugs in colors I wasn't going for. I mentioned to the folks here I was in the market for a specific small size and a particular color rug. While the service was professional, I honestly felt that because I didn't drain my bank account with any of their items, tone and body language changed towards the end and were way off. But to their benefit, rugs are quality and these folks have a lot of daring pieces. Even the items that have cracks or marks on them, were outrageously priced.
