so glad we listened to all the great yelp reviews and connected with kevin. my husband and i…read morerecently moved into our house where the carpet reeked of cat urine and the smell would not go away no matter how many times we had professional cleaning done. so we decided to get rid of the carpet and install new ones. kevin came by with multiple samples and explained the pros/cons of each material. we got a reasonable quote and decided to move forward. the style we ended up choosing went out of stock but the one he recommended in lieu of it was even better! our installation was scheduled for two weeks later. my only qualm was that on the day of, we were expecting it to start in the morning but they didn't arrive until between noon and 1. it seemed their last job took longer than expected. they ended up finishing a little before 4. so roughly 3 hours to uninstall/install for 600 sq ft of carpet. kevin typically stops by for a follow-up, which we had to schedule and he said all looked good. and the best part is that the cat urine smell is gone!

My floors are complicated because my home is over 100 years old and there are no subfloors; the floors lie on a pretty peculiar structure. The first flooring company that I hired clearly did not know how to handle the job and the results were disastrous. Not only did the resulting floors have structural issues, the stain and finish were all wrong. The flooring team splashed stain on my walls and dripped polyurethane throughout my house! We did the bedroom ourselves and were then convinced that the rest of the unit should be finished by professionals--not that we did a bad job, it was just much more difficult and took far longer than we anticipated. We got six quotes from reputable businesses, all of which fell within $100 of each other. What set SHF apart was their senior installer (and owner, I believe) Scott Callejo. He was polite and professional. He made sure he understood our vision. He explained, in detail, every step of his work process, from demolition to finishing touches. He complimented our effort on the bedroom floors and offered to fix up some of our small errors for no extra charge. He also discussed the variables that could increase cost and work time so there would be no surprises. Finally, he promised to leave our home clean at the end of every work day. Scott also said we could save money if I was home to help move furniture around. This was the week between Christmas and New Year's and I happened to be off work. We asked if he could come in the next day and do the job while I was home. Luckily, he was able to move his schedule around to accommodate ours. Scott was true to his word. The first day was only a half day (due to our short notice) but he and his staff were able to complete the demolition and still leave our home clean and orderly. Five of my ten tiles in front of my fireplace have a long crack that runs across them. We…read morepurchased the house when there was a small crack on two of the tiles, but it slowly took over all five on the second row. It irritated me so much that I knew I had to replace the tiles. However, it is a pain to try and match a random tile that was used over 20 years ago. Add to that the size of 13 by 13 and it turns into a miserable Easter egg hunt for the closest match. After figuring out both Home Depot and Menards really do not carry 13 by 13, let alone 12 by 12, as well as not really even being a good match I trekked out to the Tile Shop in Countryside. The sales associate showed me my two options. Two. This was all. Of course they would both also be out of stock and would have to be ordered. The gentleman who assisted me was very helpful and kind. Although he didn't have the supply, he called another Tile Shop that did. He also provided other alternatives, which I truly appreciated. Add that to the fact he was understanding about my plight and this gave me an overall positive view of The Tile Shop.
