(4.5 rounded) We ordered take out but the ambiance of the restaurant seems decent. The service was good. We made a very large pick up order and it wasn't quite ready when I arrived but she packed most of it and waited for the back to finish the last two but I appreciate the freshness of the food. They used a box to help us transport the food which I preferred over a bag so that was nice! The food was a hit! We all loved it and pleasing 8 people is no easy feat. We asked for the sweet n sour sauce on the side and it was such a huge amount we all could add our preference and the shrimp was still crispy bc it wasn't in the sauce during transport. So no surprise the sweet and sour shrimp was delicious. The Sichuan chicken was loved by all. I liked the orange chicken but I had better recently elsewhere. The fried rice and chow mein were both very solid. The eggplant was really enjoyable. Not the super slimy texture that eggplant can sometimes have.

LiZhou Restaurant opened where Woodhouse BBQ/HK Top was. Lighting & Infrastructure similar. New pictures added. Owner has closed their lst location in Fremont. Parking is terrible noonish. Best to come before or after noon rush. Offerings (halal): lunch specials, cold plates, iron plates, clay pot, appetizers, lamb, soups, beef, vegetables & tofu, chicken, seafood, dry clay pot, noodles/rice. No pork. Sourced animal proteins certified "halal". 2d time eating halal Chinese food. It's very tasty with natural seasonings, nothing artificial. reasonably priced. Eats: sour and spicy lamb hot pot (22.95) c -large bowl with generous portions of sliced tender lamb, cilantro, green onions, tofu & VINEGAR. Cooked in kitchen. Served fully cooked, ready to eat. -very tart, spicy lacking-didn't taste any black pepper. thanx to Eric W. For this recommendation. Mushroom & Bok Choy (14.95) -menu lists as mushroom & tender greens (13.95) Chinese writing on receipt & menu different. Pricier one lists "vegetable hearts". -big serving of reconstituted dry black mushrooms with leaves & stems of bok choy & other " greens". -had large soupy liquids with strong mushroom. Overall both dishes had tasty ambience. *food came within 10 minutes. 4.5 stars: got paper menus promptly. Guess server surprised i only spoke Mandarin Chinese with a Cantonese accent to him & an elderly Chinese woman. -would definitely repeat. Menu has typical Chinese options sans pork. Flavas authentic but distinct with unique cooking techniques. Worthy!

Kinda bummed. This used to be in another strip not too far from here in Fremont. I used to like going to that one back when my uncle was still in the area, as meals in house were always pretty good. Then came the pandemic of 2020, and even take-out efforts were difficult with them. I tried supporting them, but I never could get through. They eventually closed that location. Several years later I see this listing just a few miles away. In a much busier Asain dominated strip, and they even took over another Chinese spot that I used to know. So pretty much restaurant musical chairs. But I was excited to reacquaint myself with a name that I used to know. Ordered take-out one evening and what I received was not what I remembered from this place. Which gets me to believe there were some major changes in staff/ownership. The actual inside of the place was nice, they did a nice job at revamping the tones and ambiance accents. But I did find it strange that there were nobody eating in, just about 3-4 peeps waiting for take-out, which some may have been a delivery service. Seafood Chow Mein ($17/3*) Noodles were okay, darkened with a bit of sauce, but not much wok flavor, which I search for. Also not a lot of impressive seafood, actually only thing I really noticed were a few pieces of medium sized shrimps. For the price I was just expecting a tad more. Orange Chicken ($15/3*) I usually don't care for this dish, but I get it for others who seem to enjoy these made for American preps, where something is fried in batter then tossed in sweet and tangy sauce. I do like certain versions where the sauce is well balanced, and they toss in a handful of whole dried red chiles. This one was not of that kind. It did look like the part and I even liked how their rendition has pieces of actual orange slices tossed in with the sauce. But the flavor was very flat to me, like no pop. Even though I didn't care for this, the group did finish this first, so some can like it, so I'm going to keep this rating fair. Mushrooms with Tender Greens ($14/4*) Nice very al dente baby bok choy with that mustard-y bite. Nice whole shitake mushrooms make it nice and meaty. But lots of just an average tasting sauce with lots of flecks of uniform garlic which almost seemed like jarred processed garlic, which seemed weird to me, as good Chinese restaurants never use that stuff. Even though that threw me off, this was actually the best thing I received that night. Beef Chow Fun ($16/1*) I usually love this dish, but this was one of the worst versions I've ever had. First this is a dish that can really showcase if a cook/chef knows how to use a wok properly. If they do, then a chef can actually use minimal ingredients and still elevate this dish. Here there were zero wok hei, which I can let pass if the rest is decent. But the actual flat rice noodles which are supposed to be chewy and toothsome were so overcooked that it turned into paste into the mouth. So so gross. I still may go in and try their in house service to see if this was an off night, but I'm really skeptical after this out. They do have a captured market as they are a halal Chinese kitchen, and this area is looking for this kind of stuff. But $70+ for a take-out order where more dishes missed than hit, just left me pretty bummed, especially since it was once a place that I could be proud of.

Small Group of hungry girls & we were Craving Chinese food. We wanted something close by & wanted to stop by another cafe in the area. Located in the Asian market complex, tucked away in the corner, near the Daiso. Lots of parking but always difficult to park in this shopping center. We ordered quite a few dishes with leftovers. Appetizers fried wontons, chicken. Mains- beef broccoli, shrimp & eggs, Chow mein, chicken fried rice. Food was good, hit the craving. Spent about $115 for 4 people. 2 sodas

LiZhou Restaurant takes over the old HK Top (and Woodhouse BBQ) spot in Union City. I didn't realize there was a new restaurant here until I passed by. Apparently it is their second location (the first being in Fremont). I decided to try it out. The staff were friendly and helpful as I was seated. I heard Mandarin, Cantonese and English spoken. I ordered a Lunch Special plus an item listed outside -- Pineapple Shrimp. While drinking Hot and Sour Soup, I looked over the renovated interior. Soon my Pineapple Shrimp was ready, followed closely by my Lunch Special. The food was delicious. The interior was spacious. The staff checked on me and the others eating in their establishment. I will certainly be back to try out more of their menu.

We love this halal Chinese restaurant and everyone in our family enjoyed something. My wife and I adored the hot and sour soup, which is always made with pork so it was a delight to find one made halal and still awesome. But the shrimp clay pot; eggplant with green beans; fried fish; and beef and broccoli were all delicious. We loved the peppercorns, which added heat, but were not overpowering. SubhanAllah for this restaurant!

Chineese restaurant with excellent food. I would highly recommend it. The ambiance is great, the staff and service is excellent......food is just out of this world.

Great service. Great food. We ordered after asking what the server would recommend and glad that we did! The foods are somewhat a tad tamer than Szechuan cuisine. Spicy level can be adjusted to your liking. We ordered our food and asked medium or not too spicy and that was exactly what we got! When we got our check I was surprised to see that tip suggestions starts with just 10%, followed with 15%, and 18%. Of course tips can be customized, too. And they don't charge extra for a pot of hot tea! Overall, we had a very pleasant experience at this restaurant.

Chinese hamburger

Delicious and unique Chinese food with many items I haven't seen elsewhere. Some of my favorite were the Chinese hamburger, sautéed corn, pot stickers, and Szechuan Chongqing chicken.

Eggplant tofu

Yummy! They were very accommodating to my vegan diet and fast with service. The decorations were cute and calm.

Top: stir fried fish fillets Bottom: Japanese style fried tofu (very soft)

Ever since we tried…read moreChinese style bbq skewers last year, we definitely wanted to try more, Dynasty bbq came up on Yelp and seemed quite reasonable in price and serving size. When you enter and get seated, you will be prompted to go on the url code at the table to pick your items. While I understand that this is the new way for restaurants to serve guests post-covid, the vast menu items you have to scroll through makes me long for physical menus of the past - but that's just my boomer take for the day. There were a bunch of other items like rice and noodle dishes that looked interesting to pair with the meats, but we were only craving bbq so we skipped out on the carbs. We ordered a BUNCH of skewers, from the standard beef, lamb, pork belly to chicken skin and a fried quail. All of the skewers had the same type of dried chili powder spice seasoning mix so unfortunately there wasn't too much of a diversity in flavor profile but on the flip side, it allowed us to focus more on enjoying the meat quality itself (this is where rice or noodles would definitely help cut through the richness). All of the meats were incredibly well-cooked and charred. It is on the drier side, so be aware if you are looking for a juicier, plumper cut of meat that some other restaurants have. Paired with the Chinese vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil, they were super delectable. My personal favorites were the pork belly, chicken skin, and beef. We had some leftovers to go and the staff provided us some extra sauce to go so that's a big plus. Great food here and definitely will be back to try more of the other menu items for the full experience.

What's nice about Dynasty is that they come pre-cooked, and effectively the grill is to keep the skewers warm. Flavor wise, the seasoning is not too salty and has great taste. Overall I would recommend this place for skewers!

Thinking back on my delicious dinner at Ping's Bistro in Fremont, two things stand out for me: the…read moredelicious food, and the heat level. We ordered a variety of dishes, and all of them were fantastic. As my friend mentioned, a little bit saucier than you'd typically find in China, but still good. And we ordered everything extra spicy. The "Premium stir-fried beef with yellow peppers (with broth, Angus beef with brisket fat)" was a great saucy start to the meal, it had a nice sour flavor to go with the mild-medium heat and was very fresh tasting. "Husband and Wife Lung Slices" was good, standard and a smidge oily, but tasty. The tendons (there are no lungs, just beef and beef tendons) were cooked nicely, with just a hint of chew but tender. Again mild-medium "Stone Pot Flavored Frog" is where things started to get really good. This was one of the best dishes of the night, and the best frog I've ever had. So tender, with a nice crispy exterior, and so much flavor. This was delicious. If you've never tried frog, this is the one to get. A nice break from the heat was "Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Mustard Greens". I was told that this was a bit leaner than what you'd expect in China, but for me the meltingly soft, rich pork belly and chewy greens made into little mantou-tacos was great. It has a nice sweet/sour flavor and zero heat. Now, by far the spiciest dish we ordered was "Double Pepper Chicken Noodles". Delicious noodles, fresh chilies, great almost crispy texture from the wok, but this was firmly in medium-hot category. Everyone started to sweat and get runny noses eating this one. But the flavor was addictive. Some notes - the parking lot is big, but you may have to walk a bit. This is because this restaurant on a Saturday night was absolutely packed. I came around 6:30 and there were 9 tables on the waitlist ahead of me. I wouldn't say it moved quickly, and the area to wait in is cramped. So best bet is to come early or go wait somewhere else. They have an online waitlist that sends a text when your table is ready, so there's no need to stick around being jostled by people entering and exiting. Service was efficient. My friend ordered (in Mandarin) so I didn't follow what was happening, but the food arrived very hot and very quickly, and they nicely pack up your leftovers themselves. Overall - fantastic. I found some new favorites, had some good versions of things I already like, and while it certainly isn't cheap it was worth it. Oddly enough they added an 18% tip automatically. Fair enough, I would normally tip 20% for dinner but if 18% works I'm not complaining. Unfortunately the location isn't convenient for me and the food would be a bit challenging for most of my friends, so I probably won't be back soon. But anyone who wants some authentic and spicy and interesting Chinese dishes would be happy coming here.

If I were to sum up my meal in one word, I can do it easily: salty. Every dish I've tried today was…read moreincredibly salty. Though I prefer my food a little bit more flavorful, Ping's Bistro really shot every single flavor up. The Steamed pork belly with preserved vegetables was served first, and without a doubt, is one of the spiciest. It's a good size for sharing, but the preserved vegetables on the bottom was mushy and came in a very small portion. Though supposed to be a part of the dish, seemed to be thrown in just for some extra flavor. Though I selected mild spiciness for the Spicy Boiled Fish, it was still REALLY spicy. Maybe it's my spice intolerance, but this dish lights a fire in your mouth. Also, this dish is mala, so it numbs your mouth. Some people may enjoy this sensation, but it's a pass for me. The fish was really soft and tender though. The fish was my favorite part of the Spicy Boiled Fish. Not only there is fish underneath, it was surprising to see other ingredients like lotus, vermicelli noodles, and much more. The salted egg covered pork was extremely salty and oily. I was surprised to know it was boneless, and I felt like the salted egg crust is too thin, which let the taste of the pork overthrow any type of salted egg taste. The Country Style Sautéed Pork with Eggs and Black Fungus was again one of my preferred dishes, though it was extremely oily. I really liked the egg, black fungus, and bell peppers in this dish. The eggs and black fungus were soaked with flavor and the bell peppers balanced out the heaviness. The pork was also alright, but more on the tougher side. If you were to come to Ping's Bistro, I would advise you to order the Country Style Sautéed Pork with Eggs and Black Fungus. The floors were really sticky, but other than that, everything was alright. The water was poured messily, but I guess it's no big thing. The staff were really quiet and avoided interaction. When they serve your dish, they never wait an extra second before they leave for any questions or requests. They just drop the dish and zoom away. From my review, just remember: saltiness. I'm not convinced that I'll come back again, but I'm glad I tried it out.
