He didn't low-ball us, had the materials and tools he needed and took the time to do it right but didn't dawdle around all day, was friendly and smart, was knowledgeable and obviously good at his job, explained what he was doing, was attentive to my questions as well as my husband's, wore a mask, and actually fixed an extra little problem we had. He had long-standing, time tested recommendations for other work we asked about instead of promoting himself for jobs outside his field (you know who I mean, that incompetent plumber you hired in desperation who stands on your carpet in a puddle of gunk while giving you a pitch about installing your windows next week?) Shawn kept the work area pristine with a dropcloth, and cleaned up *perfectly* when he was done, so well our place was cleaner after he left. No tools left behind, no gate left open. 100% completed. I subsequently asked him to help with some nail pops, caulking, woodwork repairs on quarter round and a piece of crown molding, shower door seal replacements. During all that I remembered I had an exterior floodlight which had a corroded fixture due to leakage into the unit. He replaced it and took care to seal any exposed wiring. He even noticed that a rain gutter was full of debris and cleaned it, recognizing that overflow near the light fixture was a likely cause of corrosion. Peter also identified the cause of inoperable can / high hat lights in the soffits as corrosion and sealed new replacements properly. I'd had the lights replaced peviously by a licensed electician who simply installed new ones without bothering to identify and fix the cause of the of the corrosion Peter is skilled and creative in resolving annoying homowner issues. Some years ago, I made perhaps the biggest mistake ever. I contacted AHS and Herp Penrod to…read moreprovide a price for the repair and replacement of some wood gates at my home. An individual calling himself 'Carmen' came out, looked over the job, and sent out a price sheet; no contract was ever offered. My wife and I agreed and sent the entire asking price to Mr. Penrod to start the job ASAP. My wife and I are both over eighty, and we're considered old school, as Carmen pointed out the two times he spoke to us. The 'old school' was his answer to not replacing the gate handle, the house numbers, the gate spring he tore off, the flag holders on the fascia board and the discarded wood he threw over the wall. He and Mr. Penrod basically approached the job as a paid-for project that was finished. Tongue-and-groove slats were replaced with the cheapest knot-filled, and now, unrequested, spaced wood. The screw heads ranged from Phillips-head to power-tool-only acceptable. To no avail, I contacted the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, the Atty. General's office, the Tucson Better Business Bureau, they had given AHS the A+ rating I relied on, and influenced our decision, and Pima County Age Council. Their response was, "What do you want us to do?" The Tucson BBB replied that they didn't write the reviews, and the Registrar of Contractors was relieved after two appointments, both canceled, didn't address a resolution. The nearly $4,000 job was approached with a hostile age basis attitude of contempt and scorn. The check was cashed so we can do as we wish, and they did. My email request the day after the job was considered done by AHS, and only AHS, as no walk-through was offered or ever took place, to meet with Mr. Penrod and Carmen at my home was less than a five-minute conversation. It seemed it was more a pretext to appease the state's requirement. It ended with Mr. Penrod shouting across my drive, in front of my home, that he considered my email request "a much of bullshit". He later called me from what I believed was his Cell Phone, as it didn't come in clearly and I could not understand him. It was the last attempt either of us made to contact the other. The Tucson BBB continues to have an A+ rating for AHS; Angie's List, on which AHS is considered a vetted and worthy contractor, said "sorry" and was never heard from again. There is much, much more, but as I will soon turn 86, I don't have the time or energy to deal with this 'elder abuse'.

When we decided to remodel our current home, which was a much larger project, we knew we wanted to get an estimate from Johnnie at BP. We ultimately went with them and are glad we did. Jillian coordinated purchases for our project, and Jesse was our project manager. Walls, ceilings, electric, plumbing, and doors moved. Tile was replaced, new cabinets and lighting installed. The work was again completed on time and within approved budget. We really are pleased with how our house looks and how functional it is, and we've recommended BP Remodeling to friends. One is in the midst of their project now. We hope we are done with remodeling homes, but we would not hesitate to use BP again based on our experience.

Update first day of two: Jesse has the two new water scupper devices installed. The first seals are setting up. His practiced eye found two areas where the flat roof emulsion was lifted up, a little. A few days later I contacted them and advised it was still leaking the same and they now said the whole wall would need to be torn apart to do the repair. I said no. I believe this company attempted to scam me and do a lot more expensive repair that would have cost over $1000.00. My advise, do not ever use this company.
