It was unfortunate as I thought they would be a good fit but after a month had passed upon their initial visit, there had been no follow-up even after I had called them reminded them of the estimate status. They were totally disorganized. I don't know what their service would have been as they completely failed before they even had a chance to prove themselves. Nathan's did some good work for me at three properties. Unfortunately, they also did a lot of poor quality work - mostly drywall repair and painting. They were unable to blend in repairs as they did not attempt to match any texturing, and they did not sand, leaving unsightly rough flat spots on my walls. They used exterior flat paint on my interior satin walls, and used a yellowish paint to touch up dozens of spots on some pure white walls. The list of poor work is very long, including having huge amounts of paint runs, uneven thickness when using an epoxy paint on the garage floor of my new home. I was over charged for hours at an inflated rate, and left needing to have the damages undone and the original work re-done by a true professional. I will not use Nathan's again! read more

I can't say that I would use them again, but I did get my job completed. I had a water pipe start leaking at my home. The pipe was right outside and I was able to dig it up and find the bad elbow that was leaking. However, the pipe was copper so that's when I hit a wall. I started calling around for quotes and estimates on what it would cost to fix. When I called Nathan's, a scheduler answered and I explained my problem to her. She gave me an idea of what two hours of work would cost and we both thought it shouldn't take any longer than two hours. Now -- when she went to find me a day to come out she said she wanted to make sure she sent "the plumbing guy" with the most experience. This was *important* to me because I was under the impression I'd be getting someone well versed in piping. So, I agreed to wait several days and went with Nathan's thinking I'd be getting "the guy" for pipe issues and that we were looking at around two hours of work. On my scheduled day, James arrived. James is amazing, very friendly, allowed me to ask questions, etc. -- James is absolutely great. However, he can't be "the guy" because before we started he had to call someone else to ask some questions about how to tackle the job. I'm *fine* with this because I want it done right. But at that point I realize they didn't send me a plumbing expert, they were just busy and it was going to be a few days wait (just tell people that! I'd be less upset if you'd have just said that and not said you were sending "the guy"). James worked on the pipe for about an hour. We turn it on and we've cut the main pipe wrong -- this is *my* fault because I got bad info from the homeowner about which pipe went where. So we're an hour in and James has to go back to the store for new items to fix the new issue that has arisen. At this point, I'm still fine. This was my fault. So James comes back and now we enter a "troubleshooting" phase where James is trying to figure out the best way to attach a pipe to another pipe. I'm thinking this should take an hour and we'll still be at two hours. That hour passes and I say ok, three hours. Three hours tops. This ends up taking several more trips to the store, several taking things on/off, and ends up taking four more hours. So the two hour job takes five hours. I'm not upset that it took longer because in the end, the pipe is fixed and hopefully I never have to see it again. I'm happy with what James did and that he stayed and fixed it. Here is where I get upset: Had the company not alluded they were sending me an expert plumbing/pipe guy, I would have not been upset that this took five hours (most of which were troubleshooting and having to go back to the store). But since they said this was going to be "the guy" I expected a $200-250 bill. Instead, I got a great guy who did fix the issue but the time it took cost me a great deal more money ($466) because of all the troubleshooting that went on. Had the company not said they'd be sending me an expert in this area, then I may have even went with a different company. The job James did is great. It works now. What I take issue with is the scheduling person saying they were sending an expert for a two hour job, then getting something different that took 5 hours and maybe more troubleshooting than an expert would have needed. I'm glad the pipe is taken care of. But based on this very costly experience--and feeling like they duped me a little by saying if I could wait they had an expert in the field--I don't think I'd use them again. I now am wary to trust their word over the phone (not James, James I trust! He's awesome). So... I don't know if I'd recommend them or use them again... But hopefully my case is a one-off issue. read more

Included some options with different price points for me to decide. Both service men who came James & Zach, were extremely pleasant & considerate of my home ( didn't mind taken their boots off to walk on pale carpet). They did a wonderful job. My dishwasher no longer tips out of the space, the bathroom floor tile is regrouted & secure. Old exterior doors that were very worn down & ugly now look almost new. Maybe a little pricier than some but I don't mind paying a bit more if it is a job well done & in a very efficient isn't manner. I've used Nathan's twice now. The first job was installing vinyl flooring in my oddly shaped closet. The person they sent out was very friendly, quick and did a great job. The second service was the installation of a medicine cabinet. Again, nothing but praise for the work that was done. Not only was it installed well, but he made sure to clean up after. I look forward to continuing to use Nathan's for the projects around my house! I used them again, this time for a sink, faucet, and garbage disposal installation. I also had the floor of the sink cabinet replaced (which was water dams aged, and started the whole project). Almost a year later, everything is perfect. I have used Nathan's Handyman service twice in the last few months. They charge a fair price by the hour, prompt, and good customer interaction/communication. The first instance was to stop rain leaks coming in our front window without having to contemplate a costly tear out. Tech did a really great job sealing all the exposed areas which should hold through monsoon season. Second job was to relocate a couple electrical outlets in the garage. Employee came by in time frame and was very diligent, professional, and quick about the work. Can't say much about their work, but their scheduling system and their people answering the phones are disorganized and don't actually listen to their customers. I called on Monday to schedule someone to come to my house for an estimate for some work I need done. I spoke with a lady who answered the phone, I can't recall her name right now. I specifically said to her that today is Monday and I am leaving town Wednesday morning. Is it possible can we schedule someone to come out between now and Wednesday? If you can't, I totally understand, it is a short notice and can schedule something for after I return the following week. She said no worries, Nathan will be there at your house tomorrow (Tuesday) between 11am and 12pm. I said that's fantastic. I took the day off from work and waited for Nathan. No Nathan by 12:30pm, so I called the office to inquire. This time a gentleman answered the phone and said, nope, you're not scheduled for today, you're scheduled for Wednesday (the day I'm leaving town). Great!! Thank you for wasting my whole day Nathan's Handyman Service! I had paid to have some screens per-ordered and installed and their worker never finished the job (and I think ended up getting fired shortly thereafter). Once they realized what happened they gave me a credit for what I had already paid for. I will always go to them first for my handman work.
