I've been getting my fish here for three years. The girls are always so nice and do their best to answer any questions. The fish are 9/10 times super healthy and live long lives. If there is a sick fish at the store they isolate and treat until it gets better before selling. And, you won't find dead fish in the tanks like at chain pet stores. They had the same 10" aeration stone that I bought 5 years ago, with connections at both ends. If course I picked up a few more things. This is a superior pet store with great prices. The staff is very helpful, and the selection is great. The prices are also great.

I would give this store zero stars if I could. They have rabbits in tiny wire cages which barely gives them enough room to move, old looking hay and a bowl of pellets which is the incorrect way to feed them. If you're going to try and adopt animals out and act as if you care about them, make sure you know how they should be cared for. I was so distraught seeing this I had to leave the store immediately. read more

I would give this store zero stars if I could, bought a kitten from them for $100 had to take the kitten to an emergency vet hospital after a day and a half of owning it, the poor kitten was in so much pain and impacted with poop the vet told me this has been happening probably since the kitten was born, the kitten was only nine weeks old, the vet told me it would cost $800 to treat the kitten and I chose to bring the kitten back to the store, they did give me another kitten but would not compensate me on any part of the vet bill which was $210, I even suggested they give me a store credit so the money would go back into the store as I do own lot of pets, they refused and said they were not responsible for the vet bill.... I took my beloved parakeet for a clipping. I told the two employees who were prepping with gloves that he was fully flighted and I suggested taking him into a smaller room in case he got loose. They chose not to and proceeded to try to manage him at the register - feet away from the front door. Needless to say, within seconds he was loose and flying frantically around the store. The employees and patrons chased him for 30 minutes all around with nets trying to catch him. Ultimately, he was caught, but not without my daughter in tears who watched the entire terrifying scene play out. It was a pet owner's worst nightmare. Why did they think they'd do a clipping at the register on a flighted bird - when they KNEW it!! My bird is still recovering, and I hope he is OK. I will not be back to this store with its incompetent employees, and it is within walking distance of my home. I'll drive miles right past to another store. read more

Do not go here for fish. So, I just recently got into the fish keeping hobby (but i'm not a noob, i know what i'm doing as far as water parameters and other things) and I figured this local place would be better than going to petsmart or petco. This place does have a nice selection of fish, as well as decent pricing, however they don't know what they're doing. First of all, they mislabel a LOT of their fish. I asked them if they have honey gouramis, they said no, but they did just labeled as "sunset gouramis". They had bronze corydoras labeled as "green cories". Also, I bought 4 dwarf gouramis from them. One of them died to a parasite, another one died for literally no reason at all, and now two more of them that I have just started showing symptoms of columnaris. They also had tanks RIDDLED with ich. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

I can't say enough good things about this pet store. I first went because I wanted to support a small business. They won me over on the first visit. The staff is SO knowledgeable and they take their time with you, offer suggestions and genuinely seem concerned to make sure you leave with what you needed. Their prices are comparable to the big box pet stores but in the big box stores you won't get the same service. The biggest compliment is absolutely how well versed this group of staff is on their product. I am so impressed with them and wouldn't want to shop for our pets needs anywhere else. read more

Such a shame the customer service is very poor. Their shelves are usually stocked, There is a wide variety of products with decent prices. If an item needs to be ordered they are very eager. Good luck getting someone to follow up and call to let you know it is in or not available. This is prior to pandemic and during. They are freaks about a mask too. Considering i am spending my gas money to drive there and not ordering at a discount place like chewy, one would think the customer service would be more American and patriotic! Far from it! They do not share the American community spirit. Our hard earned money does not deserve to go to places that do not know how treat hard working Americans. They violated the ADA by insisting I wear a mask despite a medical condition. Yet had the rudeness to say i could do curb side pick up. My gas, my time my money will go to another Pro freedom store. They always have what I need for my pets, and if they don't they order it in. I have gone to them for three years now for my snake's needs, and now use them for my kitten needs. DO NOT PURCHASE FISH HERE. I have always felt we should support our local businesses until my experience yesterday at Living Things in Orefield, PA. I have been a loyal costumer since they had opened but after yesterday's experience, I can no longer support them. My elderly dad bought 3 fish from them on Sunday and all 3 fish died shortly after his purchase. He was given no instructions on the care of the fish. He went back to the store the next day with his receipt but they would not replace or refund the fish because he did not have the dead fish with him. He is an 82 year old man with the the onsets of dementia and a veteran who served our country. The owner was very disrespectful to him and should be ashamed of himself, especially when he was a fellow vet. I went in later to discuss what happened earlier that day, explaining that he is old and forgetful. They would not make an exception. They turned around and told me they didn't care. What happened to compassion and understanding. Then the staff worker comes out from left field with a statement my dad shouldn't be driving and she is very knowledgeable of onsets of dementia. Well, if she was, then she would know that it effects short term memory like where you left your keys or forgetting to bring dead fish back to the store for a return. It doesn't affect long term memory like driving eating walking etc. And then she went on and on about it and the owner stood there like a fool while she was being very disrespectful to me. She made herself sound so ignorant but I did get a good laugh out of it. Maybe she should try reading a book. I then asked why they didn't give him instructions for caring for the fish. They told me because he had his granddaughter who an expert. Not once did she claim she was expert in fish. I asked her why they said that & she said it was because her grandfather made a joke that she would give the fish CPR. They laughed knowing it was a joke and now trying to turn it around to make them look in the right. He was the customer and directions and information should have been given to him. After reading the many other dissatisfied Google reviews from customers who also have dead fish after purchasing, I feel they have some kind of scam going on. I suggest to everyone to take their business somewhere else so they too wont be flushing their money down the toilet. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR FISH. On Sunday, my grandfather and I purchased three new fish we have never cared for before after the suggestion from one of the girls in the pet shop. They were cute, I asked if they were freshwater (apparently they only sell freshwater fish, which I did not realize) and if the flake food we had at home should be good for them. We were given no other instructions. Once home, I set their tank up, let the fish adjust to the temperature of the water by placing the bag in the tank full of water and then opened the bag and put the fish in like I do with our goldfish. It was horrible. The fish started trying to jump out of the water and slowly sinking to the bottom of the tank, but we didn't know what to do next and were never told anything at the pet store. I looked online and it said the water might be high in chlorine or something else in the water, so I ran to PetSmart to see if I could get something to save the fish since Living Things was no longer open. They were dead by the time I returned. While the PetSmart employees were extremely helpful and found me the right solution to add to the tank, Living Things neglected to give us proper care instructions and when my grandfather returned to replace the fish with his receipt (they have a three day return policy), the owner was rude and told him they could not replace the fish because he did not have the physical dead fish with him, although he did agree that the fish would have died in the water we put them in. He also claimed that I said I was a fish expert, which never happened and my lack of experience was obvious by the questions I was asking the previous day. My mother then tried to explain to the owner that my grandfather is older and becoming more forgetful, which is why he flushed the fish but brought the receipt, and that he is a vet who served our country and deserved more respect than what he was giving him whether he replaced the fish or not. The owner continued treating my grandfather and mother poorly and my entire family and friends will no longer be shopping at this pet store, which is upsetting since we've been going here for years and like to support local businesses. This could have all been easily been prevented simply by giving us proper care instructions with the fish (which they obviously don't do, since you'll see several reviews about fish dying within a few days of purchase) or by excusing an old man's forgetfulness and practicing good business by replacing the fish. This would have guarenteed our continued business. read more
