Sue is a top notch trainer and makes sure everyone riding there has endless opportunities for leasing, lessons, training, buying and showing anywhere from Bucks County Horse Park to Devon Horse Show! When i was there, all the older girls were kind and willing to help out! i leased 2 ponies and a horse throughout my time and Bavin Gate and every lease was worth every penny! The visitor center is fun to browse around. We like to take the short walk up to the North Lookout and hangout up there for a little while enjoying the scenery. If you're lucky, you can get the lookout to yourself for a while - or at least have quiet people enjoying the uniqueness of the setting. When I'm by myself, I like to do a more difficult and lengthy walk down the River of Rocks Trail to the Golden Eagle Trail, and then up the Skyline Trail where I can take in the scenery from the North Lookout before heading back to the visitor center. We've been members for several years and have enjoyed some of their special events like the photography contests and Birds and Brews. If you're just visiting for a few hours, head down to Wanamaker's General Store for a delicious wrap!

It is here where every autumn, more than 20,000 birds of prey pass over, making their way from northern states and Canada to warmer climates. Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is the oldest and largest wild bird sanctuary in nearby Kempton, PA, where trails and lookouts offered beautiful scenery and access to nature where my partner, his family and I came today. From the Visitors Center, which had some interesting exhibits and a gift shop where the admission fee was collected at $10 per person, the Lookout Trail was the easiest and most popular, covering a one-mile route to several lookout points along the ridge. Friendly staff members were positioned here to answer questions and point out birds. The trails were very well marked, and the trail map explained each so that one knows what you're getting into. We walked to North Lookout. It was the pinnacle of Hawk Mountain perching on top of the mountain at an elevation of 1,500 feet and offering a 200-degree view that stretches 70 miles on a clear day. This was a perfect place to work on photography and binocular skills, as well as a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts that we can recommend.

We arrived to the farm and were greeted by instructor at the barn. She was wonderful with him and explained horse care with brushing etc. My grandson had several quiestions which she happily answered. He led the horse to the arena and was taught to ride, turn left right stop etc. The look and smile on his face was priceless. He enjoyed this experience so much and already asked to go back. The property is always well maintained, full of friendly and compassionate boarders, and a knowledgeable staff. Schocharie Ridge has riders ranging from novice to advanced, and everything else in between. Schocharie Ridge is equipped with a well lit indoor and outdoor ring, both with excellent footing. The property also contains beautiful trails for the avid trail rider. There is always something fun going on at the barn, from the occasional clinic or picnic. At Schocharie Ridge, you will feel like part of a team. Sandy Kantor is an amazing trainer. Her skills in horsemanship cannot be matched. She truly has a gift with horses and riders. She teaches in a way that everyone can understand, creating a comfortable riding environment for riders. She gives her riders true, honest advice, whenever advice is needed. The facilities are safe and clean, stalls are airy and matted, turnout is incredible, the rings (both indoor and outdoor) & footing are always in great shape, and there are also trails and jumps! Overall, the property is very well kept and the scenery gorgeous. The people/other boarders are friendly, and while Dressage is a large focus, there are a variety of riding styles/disciplines represented and everyone respects each other. Sandy is extremely knowledgeable and conscientious, and the care and best interests of the horses come first. She is also fair, friendly, and approachable. My horse is very picky about things (and people), but he has never been happier, as am I. Sandy is also an excellent trainer of horses as well as riders, many of which have gone on to do some very notable things in the dressage ring, on the racetrack, jumping disciplines, and just plain pleasure/family horses. Each horse and/or rider gets a strong base and foundation in which to build on, or for those who have a base, to move ahead with. Sandy is one of the most hands on trainers I've ever seen. She tailors things individually to each horse and/or rider, and recognizes that everyone learns at a different pace. She goes above and beyond to make sure lessons are learned and both horse and rider have a clear understanding, and takes care to never scare either at any point. Be aware that (for boarding) there is sometimes a waiting list- yes, it is THAT popular!! People don't leave often, because it's that good!! A beautiful facility, a knowledgeable and caring owner who also happens to be a talented trainer of both horses and riders, nice boarders, and VERY happy horses- Schocharie Ridge has it all!!! Chris picked up and said he would give me a call later in the week to get payment info and book for the date. I didn't hear back once again and called a week before the date. Again he said he was driving and would call me back that night. Nothing--i have not the faintest idea on why I never got a call back to confirm payment and date. The only thing I could think of and didn't want to resort to that reason was racism. I'm so glad that I didn't book with this place and found another who was more accommodating and actually booking for the event was not as archaic as a phone call to get payment. Instead, I was able to book online with another and got the river tubing experience that we wanted. I highly recommend Extreme Adventure Travel Outfitters instead of this place. Stay clear away from Luna Tubing.

With some smaller kids and some grandparents it's not always easy finding something that everyone enjoys, but we all had a blast. We picked a dam release date so the river was a bit quicker. Parking was easy, and they shuttle you back at the end, so pretty convenient. The process getting tubes and jumping in the river was organized well, and everyone was friendly. We had some with us worried the river might be too cold, but once you got into the water it really wasn't bad at all (temp was high 70s-80 on a date in late August). We chose a bunch of single tubes and some of us got doubles, which all worked well. Can't wait to do this again next summer!
