But that's where the positives end. I've visited the store three times and made purchases on two of those visits. Every single time, I was treated like a second-class citizen. The staff is rude, follows customers around as if they're going to steal something, and responds curtly when you ask questions. If you're reading this review and wondering whether the negative reviews without photos are accurate -- they absolutely are. As an Elite Yelper, I usually know how to filter out unreliable reviews, especially from accounts with no photos or very little activity. But in this case, reviewers like Alex R., Rudy M., Crystal J., Michelle S., Preslie S., Lauren G., and Candice B. are telling the truth. I won't shop here again. I can find the same cute items online or in Dallas, Austin, or LA without having to deal with the attitude. There's no reason to "bow down" behind the red velvet rope after walking through an embarrassingly tacky single-door entrance with terrible signage.

Packaging was thrashed and clearly used. Contents disheveled and pull tab and plastic wrap that appear on new Courant chargers was missing.

Paid for a new item, received a very used one.

After I had purchased the item that I had decided upon, it was placed into a very attractive gift-bag with pink tissue paper neatly placed on top. It's easy to give J. I used my booth to sell old personal items that one would typically expect to find at a local yard sale. Think grandma's old stuff that's just been collecting dust in the attic or in storage. People visiting this flea market are primarily looking for the best possible deals and the cheapest possible prices. It seems to me like most items are of a more mass-produced quality, rather than old and used. I saw a lot of hats, t-shirts, boots, leather goods, and other such clothing and accessory items. There's jewelry, tools, toys, some food items, and more of what I consider to be more gimmicky plastic made-in-China stuff. Speaking Spanish around here is basically a must as I found that more than 90% of the customers were Spanish-speaking, many of them unable to speak English at all. The flea market managers/owners were super friendly and helpful through my process of renting a booth here. The cheapest booth price was $30 for the day, but this was set back off the main thoroughfare where most people walk by and don't even make much of a glance over in your direction. It may be worth the extra $10-20 for a better location. It won't be a common occurrence for me but it's nice to know how things work now in case I end up cleaning out more closets someday. And taking an hour or two out of your day to stop in at this flea market is almost a necessity for a visit to Lubbock.

The store is not always clearly marked, but it is fairly organized. You can usually tell what section you are in, whether it is toys, automotive, home goods, or something else, which makes it pretty easy to figure out if they have what you are looking for. That said, customer service has not been a strong point in my experience. The employees are not usually very helpful, but most of the time that is not a major issue because the store is easy enough to shop on your own. The only significant problem I have had involved my grandmother. She walked behind the counter area to look at some Christmas bags that were displayed back there. For context, this location has several registers, there was no clear sign or barrier indicating customers could not step into that area, and there was merchandise displayed on the wall behind the counter. It seemed like an easy and understandable mistake. Instead of simply explaining the policy respectfully, the cashier was dismissive and unprofessional. My grandmother explained that she was only trying to pick out the bags she wanted to purchase so she would not have to describe 15 different bags to someone who would then have to walk back and grab them. The cashier called a manager over, and my grandmother said she would wait for the second cashier to open because of how she was being treated. The employee then continued making unnecessary remarks. Overall, I still like Ollie's and will continue shopping there for the deals, but the customer service could definitely use improvement. A simple misunderstanding should have been handled with basic professionalism and respect, especially toward an older customer
