We bought some very unique souvenirs here. Quality is excellent, prices are fantastic and the staff were very friendly.

It's dedicated to all things gaming and doesn't have graphic novels (which is actually kind of rare for stores like this one but I thought it was great - more room for the hobby and video games). They had tons of older video games at great prices. There was some sort of gaming going on in the backroom that looked like a fun time. My partner ended up buying a Fire Emblem game that he'd been looking for and just waiting for a good opportunity to support a local business and buy. At the register, I spotted a very cool display of leather earrings and ended up buying a cute pair. I'm told they'll have Halloween inspired ones in very soon so you know we'll be back. Definitely worth stopping in and supporting a local game store!

They bring a nostalgic charm…read moreto this cold and old town, with kids and families coming in to play a new board game, and more serious mass game players competing with the utmost enthusiasm. You can check out the games for a measly $5, much like one would check out DVDs (RIP Blockbuster) or library books even. Or even better: you can play the games all located in the back shelf for free - right in the vicinity - which can be great if you got some free time on your hands on a lazy Sunday. Right after having brunch at the Diner, we stopped by here and played several rounds of Exploding Kittens. Highly recommend that game. Many other games also to try out. The owner was so friendly; when we walked in, he asked us if it was our first time and immediately showed us the free games in the back to play. My only complaint is that there is a faint smell that I can only know too well: boy smell. It's not the most pleasant smell, but I suppose it could also be worse. I feel like the business could use an air freshener. Maybe I'm just fussy. Nevertheless, this is still a good spot to have fun!

The owner has extensive knowledge of the hobby and is doing it because he loves it, not to make money. As an example, several items I noticed were priced lower than Ebay or online and when I asked him about that he agreed. However, he was still able to make his margins and wanted to better help local modelers. His section of new and used HO trains is pretty diverse. There are lots of great deals on vintage kits and older stock, but he has modern cars too with all the great details (and higher prices). His O gauge tinplate selection seemed a bit more limited but I don't really focus on that. He had a great selection of books and magazines, and a cute display layout. Behind the counter is his collection of his personal models in display cases. He has (along with his custom painter) assembled what is probably the best collection of locomotives and cars that are unique to the upstate New York area. If local shortlines use (or used) these engines, he has one. It was like looking at a museum. And, if the price is right, he will sell them. My prices weren't right though! It is quite a drive from Albany (about an hour each way) so if I need something I first call ahead to see if he has it. However, if you need advice or want to see what the new trends are in the hobby stop by. And, make sure to check him out at the local trains shows too.
