Inventory can vary like any second-hand store - sometimes I walk out with armloads, other times I don't find anything I'm interested in - that's the joy of thrifting! If you bring in something to donate, they'll give you a small discount on your purchase. A couple reviews mentioned pricing - it's a fair point. Sometimes I look at an item and think they're asking too much. Things I do then: 1) put it back, or 2) take it to the front and ask if they're willing to pay a price I feel comfortable with. An example - I found a great pair of See Kai Run shoes, but they had pen scribbled on them. I asked if they'd lower the price, and they did. If they'd said no, I would have put them back. Another time I just looked up the item and showed them that I'd found it new for less - again, price was lowered. I feel like some things are well priced, and some things are a bit too high. But even with that.... Things I don't do: 1) not look at price tags and then feel betrayed because it was more than I expected 2) not make sure I understand the return policy AT A SECOND-HAND PLACE and then feel betrayed because I failed to do so 3) leave solely negative reviews for companies because I like bringing only negative energy into the world. Just saying. :) Another note - sometimes things do need a wash. I would say that's occasional. But I don't care because I wash everything before I put it on my kiddo anyway. And just a note - this is a donation-based store, not a consignment place. It's different. A portion of their proceeds go to a charity. Bottom line, I love this place and it's in the regular rotation when looking for toys and books especially.

I use it as a way to get him to give up a portion of his abundance of toys to share them with other kids. It's a win-win for both of us. They accept donations daily and help to keep unwanted items out of the landfill. When you make a donation, they will give you a voucher for five dollars off toward one of their used toys. The options are amazing for kids birth to school age. There is a game room, clothing section, area for baby items (strollers, cribs, swings, etc) and so many toys. If you need it for a kid, they probably have it. Things are a bit on the expensive side, but I think that's expected because the stuff on display is usually in fairly good condition and I imagine the rent in this area isn't particularly low for a two story store that runs on variable donations. It's a place that I enjoy having in close proximity to my home and as part of our local community.

Fortunately, places like Pinwheels help take the edge off of clothing and entertaining the little guy! Clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, books, games, strollers, swings: it's all here! And it's all a bargain! Lightly used? Just about everything seems about as close to brand new as possible; *I'd* certainly never know the difference. There's even a "diaper depot" (as I like to call it anyway): a drop box where you can donate extra diapers you no longer need, so that others less fortunate can take them for free; a heartwarming touch that immediately endeared me to this place. The owner is a vibrant, wonderful woman who immediately engaged us upon entering, and make the whole experience a true pleasure. And she has an eye for style, quality, and most important in a resale shop: cleanliness! We bought a pair of shoes and a few toys this time around, but I foresee many return visits to Pinwheels, and not just to re-sell the clothes my son outgrows. I usually feel like I need to wash my hands after going into thrift stores! I found some really great items for the home and clothes that I've been needing. I will continue to shop here! I also know where I'll be donating my things too. It makes me feel good that they don't try and mark up their items, and that the donated stuff will go to someone at a great cost. I love the clothes I buy there, and I come back on the regular, even though I no longer live in Multnomah Village, because the clothes are so good and the women know me there. They're so sweet, kind, and caring. I also bring clothes to sell and donate. They'll look at your clothes either on the spot, or will take 1 or 2 days (they take one day off a week from accepting clothes). You can choose to have clothes donated through them, and they team up with non-profits throughout Portland and give them to people in need. It's a win-win. What I love about this store is... everything about it. They even have skincare products that have allowed me to try $70+ products for $20 or less. I LOVE THIS STORE!!! After being told by her employee that my items were wonderful & they would accept them I received a RUDE HOSTILE text from this owner, Julie, "we accepted NONE of your items" . 98% were items with tags, brand new. Retail) flats, She also referred very negatively to her employee stating she had no right to tell me what they accept. I have now tried 3x to pick up all of my "rejects" and the shop is never open. I am in Salem assisting my 89 & 90 year old parents so it's not a simple task to drive 45 miles & be met with a closed shop !!! I like the sort of sprawling and overfilled place where you might have to dig through a lot of junk, but you may be rewarded with a piece of exceptionally inexpensive treasure. This place is actually what it states in the name - a secondhand boutique. Most items are fairly affordable, all are in good condition, and each one has been thoughtfully chosen for its style and quality. The items tend toward a more classic and conservative style. The people who work here seem quite friendly. I didn't buy anything - but I would absolutely recommend it to someone looking for a boutique shopping experience rather than classic thrifting.
