Thrifting is kind of trendy with the younger generation. It's like they're getting discounted goods and recycling/reusing items instead of filling up the land... I didn't find anything at this time. I have been coming here since I was young and never had ppl so utterly rude. I went in with my litter brother today around 1:50-2-15 pm as we were not in the store that long. We went to do some shopping and While I was by the jeans my brother walks up to me and grabs something from the rack an employee was working on. She hit the sign to show him not to grab from it. He said sorry, I go about my business deciding what clothes I will be keeping and putting the jeans I didn't want back in their section. I hear the lady that looks maybe Indian or Mexican in her 30s and who I KNOW has been working there for at least 10 years. Along with another worker, a tall white guy with brown hair and wore a mask, started talking smack very loudly while sitting on furniture with another customer an old lady. About how rude customers are and everyone just doesnt care. And that he doesn't say anything to people anymore because he'll get written up. I thought they were talking about another customer because surly one item taken from the rack isn't that big of a deal, specially after apologizing. There was a pile of clothes someone just left on the ground by the rack and as we were walking away the guys said "those people walking away left the clothes on the ground" talking about us and again talk very loudly everyone could hear !!!!im not sure what was wrong with them but the guy at the register was very nice. read more

I'll start off with the good - the folks that work here are super nice. The clothes are mostly in good or excellent condition, and they have some quality brands. Not much in the way of high end, but plenty of quality mall brand pieces. The bad - the prices are very high, higher than any other thrift store I've been to in the area. As an example, men's button downs range from about $10 for lower quality/condition, to $20 for higher quality, with most around $16. Paying $16 for a J. Crew or Banana Republic or Columbia shirt is a lot, when you can get the same item from some online second hand apps for $6-10 and free or low price shipping. For that reason, I won't return here very often unless I have a long time to dig through everything looking for the rare good deal from a less well known brand. read more

One used to be able to find great deals at Value Village however, A lot has changed in over the last few years. Due to Covid they removed the dressing rooms and have never brought them back. Very inconvenient. There is no public restroom. To me this is unacceptable. All large businesses open to customers need to have public restrooms available. Ever since they put up the 'scan your own item' register the prices have jumped dramatically. When you find things from the Dollar Store, which is across the street, marked at two and three dollars, something's wrong. And what's with the Mexican announcements and music? 90% of your customers do not speak Spanish. I understand they offer jobs to individuals who may have certain disabilities, but when a staff member tells you to move because they need to park the cart at the end cap, well that's not acceptable. While I was having a conversation with another customer, one of the staff members stepped in between us to put something on the shelf. He never said excuse me, or pardon me, he didn't even look at us. Staff members at the register are quick, polite, and ready to help which is appreciated. It's the staff member stocking the shelves that need to have basic manners explained to them. Between no public restrooms, lack of dressing rooms, some staff members and the high prices it's becoming very discouraging to shop value Village. Please do not become like Goodwill. read more

I have been to a lot of thrift stores in my years and I'm visiting in town in Oregon from California and I gotta be honest with you. I was excited by looking at pictures thinking oh man I'm gonna score some really good deals here but it's actually the opposite I mean, Port Tshirt you're talking sometimes $10 and I have the cheapest I found was like seven dollars for a T-shirt. Let's start with the one positive I have-the selection was large. Tons of items, you could be there for hours. Now onto the not so good..the prices! If you like spending almost like new prices for used goods than this is your place. I was shocked! $12.99 for a pair of mugs. $9.99 for a book. $29.99 for a pan. I could go on and on. Also there was a staff member who was putting items away and would run their cart up super fast behind me, almost hitting me, multiple times and make me feel as though I shouldn't be in that area looking. Bought a jewelry jar on Mother's Day! It was priced $109.00, simply outrageously priced! There was literally a keychain with an empty shiracha to go bottle! There were plastic airline pins. There were 3!, clipped retractable crap. It was a full on rip off and it's disgusting. Needless to say I will never shop there again! It was hard for me to get anyone's attention for my question regarding an electrical portable hand mixer missing it's beaters. Finally a gentleman in the back room came out and said, "We'll just throw this portable mixer out if it doesn't have the beaters." Ooookay. No effort to explain. Soo I went back across the huge floor and found some beaters hanging on the wall in a bag. I'm delighted. So I went all the way across the store and said to the same gentleman. " May I have the mixer as I found the beaters?" "NO. I threw them away." 1. He doesn't believe in good customer service nor reuse/recycling 2. OR Doesn't want to be bothered. Then as I'm leaving to walk out the door to go to Goodwill I see a gentleman trying in vain to get someone to help him at the jewelry/fancy shoe counter. "Hello!" The very young man scolds both of us for yelling and waving our arms like we're at a football game. He says spicely, "See that sign? See that bell? That's how you get our attention." Whoa. I'm gone. Going here for 20 years. There are things I really like about VV. Mostly it's the staff! They are helpful and consistently nice. I like the variety of items. They need to get real about the prices, though. Stop the greed! The items are donated! A bag of rocks from the dollar store which are 1.25 were going for 5.99. The jewelry put out is scarce and low quality generally. The sport pants should be positioned the opposite direction so you can see the logos. The price of a vintage egg dish was 15.99- seriously? They did a good job organizing all sorts of things and the prices are easy to find. My mom found a nice pair of shoes and it was in decent condition. I've NEVER stepped foot INTO a Value Village but I've now twice done the drop off. The first time I was doing drop off the guy was GRABBING things out of my hands when I specifically told him I needed to return boxes and not leave them behind and he was just putting EVERYTHING in the bins. Bought a couch at this location, rented a uhaul and came back and they sold the couch to someone else. They just leave it out and I guess they said people will rip the "sold" sign off and buy it again. I spoke to the manager (blonde lady) who told me the same thing happened to and old lady but acted like they're is nothing they can do about it. I've never had this happen at other locations. I ended up getting a way less comfortable couch bc it was the only one they had left, so I didn't have to completely eat the loss. Like maybe take the item off the floor? Keep an inventory? Put a sold sign under a cushion or somewhere most people won't think to look? Isn't it your job to figure this stuff out? The attitude made me feel very unwelcome as a shopper. If this happens all the time then it's not accidental it's negligence. Use to love buying furniture from this chain but I will now have to avoid this location after seeing how they treat their loyal customers. The couch I have now sucks but at least they had another one this time, I can't imagine how the other customers feel when they pay to rent a truck and come back to see absolutely no options left. This was a bit out of our way but well worth it. I'm a fan of thrift shopping and wish there were more places like this closer to me. When you think of thrift stores the first places that come to mind are Goodwill and Salvation Army. I do not like those places. Overpriced and unorganized. But today I was happy to walk into a store that was open, clean and it seemed like the workers were genuinely happy to work there. Everything had its place and the isles were spacious. The furniture section was a little in disarray. But besides that you could walk around and understand clearly where everything was. As far as the quality of things in the store, it is about the same as other places. But I did find a few things I think was a steal. The prices were very reasonable. I love Value Village, but their prices are inconsistent. Idk how they price items but I've seen two identical items and one is priced really high and the other is a lot lower. I have seen this multiple times. But I always find something I have to have, I've never left empty handed. They always have tons of clothes. I have noticed that name brand clothes are priced higher, even if in bad shape. They always seem to have a small but decent selection of baby clothes/items, and furniture. Employees are friendly and you can always find one when you need something or have a question. Their rewards program is nice. Hello. I went to the Tigard store after work yesterday for the Senior discount. I come to this store every Tuesday, and I have come to expect bad customer service but put up with it b/c I enjoy the thriftying experience & getting some exercise by walking up and down all the aisles. I donate every week so I can get a coupon to buy every week. The last time I went I had two full carts and as I was walking out the girl told me I had to put my rolling cart away. I said can't you do that since you are customer service and you see I have two full carts of items I bought and have no free hands. She said no, I need to put my basket away. I said no, I can't do that and did not see why she couldn't have taken it a few feet to the front. I have come in the store and ask for help, and there is never anyone is the store to help. They are always walking to the back and when you try to ask their help they seem like you are burdening them. That is the background to yesterday. Yesterday: I had a rolling basket full of 6 books, 3 large candelholders, planter containers, and a large cart filled with a 6 feet artificial tree, some wall art, etc. I then found a very large desk converter that makes it so you can stand at your desk while working on your computer. There was no one to ask how I get it. There are no signs or tags to pull off. I saw a bookshelp with a SOLD sign on it, but wasn't sure if I go to someone to put a sold sign on it and they hold it for me. So, I dragged my two carts and the box to the front. I asked the clerk (I have pictures of each person this night I spoke with) if I can set it up front because I need to grab the rest of my items and he said no. I then said I need to get more things, can I just put it here by the counter that wasn't being used at checkout. He said I wasn't suppose to bring the box up, that someone would mark it and take it out back for me to pick up. I said there was no one to help me and there is never anyone here to help b/c I come here all the time. He said there were signs to tell me how to get big items, and I assured him there were no signs telling me to take it to the back for pick up or any signs telling me not to bring it up front. He then allowed me to set it and my other things in front by the windows. I then came back and asked to check out with the "live" person, not the self scanner since I had so many items. He said they don't have that and everyone HAS to go through self checkout. I said "no, that is not true b/c someone was just at the person check out ringing people up about 10 minutes ago". He then said again, no I have to go to self checkout. SO, I did. I then asked if I can't get the big item in my car, can I hold it and get my other car to pick it up and he said "NO, we don't hold items". (Mind you, there was a bookcase in the back near the tree I bought with a sign on it that said "sold", so I am assuming he was lying to me saying he wouldn't hold my item.) I said again that I'm just up the street and can come back but he said he wouldn't hold it b/c they don't do that. Another worker came up who said he was the manager/supervisor and I asked him if I can't get the desk in my car can I come back and he said no. and I said I've had things held in the past and he said if I can't get it in the car he has to put it back on the floor for others. I then probably had my voice start to raise a little over the whole frustration of my experience. I am a senior citizens with arthritis and had to ring up two carts of very large items, and when I asked if they would help me load it they said no. I asked if they would at least take it to the front doors so I can pull up, but no one wanted to help me. I said this happens all the time like last time when I was told I had to put my own cart away even though I had my hands full, and the manager and other employee said "Yes, you DO need to put your cart away". I said to him, so I have to put this cart away even though you see how I'm struggling with all the things I just bought? You can't just provide customer service and put my cart away for me seeing how I am not getting any help, and he said I have to put my own cart away. At this point I really started to get worked up and said I need there picture. The manager told me I can't take pictures b/c it's againts the law and a two consent state. I told him that is a absolutely not true, and he kept telling me I was not allowed to take pictures. At this point three young teenangers walked over and started calling me an old hag and said I can't talk to the employees that way. So here I am, a regular donator and buyer being harrassed and your employees did nothing. At this point I said to them if you are not going to help me then go away so I can finish paying and get out of her. I would like to know how I can send you the photos I have so you can identify the worker and the supervisor who harrassed and didn't help me. Well, I see there have been a lot of negative reviews, and I totally get the issues with the self-service checkout (which I've embarrassed myself several times having to ask for help to use and is all-around inconvenient), the prices (which are higher than many thrift stores), and the lack of fitting rooms anymore (though that seems to be a wonderful legacy of covid-19 days)....BUT, I will say, I still try to visit this store every so often. Here's what I like: --If you hunt around, you can still find some pretty awesome deals. --One thing I REALLY love is if you make some donations, you can get a coupon for future discounts when you shop. --There's so much variety and it's a huge store. I always walk out with something, which is more than I can say for a lot of thrift stores in the area, and even Value Village stores in other areas. read more

A step up from Goodwill, prices are reasonable overall, however not consistently priced. They have one colored tag for half price and their savers program for added savings. If you are a senior, go on Tuesday for added savings. Store and merchandise is laid out well. read more

Ok I'm from So. CAL. and our threat stores down there are loaded with great buys. Our Goodwills are super cheap and very reasonable in prices. But up here in Oregon they are expensive. The Goodwills out here (sorry for saying this) are like shopping at Ross or other discounted store. Prices are high and value in ok. So we came here cuase a local recommended it. And man was she right. It was cheaper, huge selection, great pricing, really cool finds, from cloths, to children's book, to jewelry and accessories. I have to come back here and shop more in these stores. I spent 60 buck at Goodwill and got 4 items. Spent 60 bucks here and got 3 that's right 3 bags full of stuff. 3.75 stars. it can be hit or miss. Watch for sales and fill out an application for membership for special sales. When filling out the application, take note that the ARC will phone your house for $ donations. I hate whatever spray they use in the back. It smells so strong of chemicals/sprays if I get near the door to the back room it makes me sick. Smells like some sort of bug spray back there. I went to the 1/2 price sale this past weekend. The lady of maturity that was dealing with the people coming out of the dressing rooms/return to floor rack needs additional customer service skills. It IS her job to make sure the clothes that come out of the dressing rooms get returned to their proper places. No need to huff and puff about it! All I asked was if this was the return clothes rack and she gave me 'tude. I do like this place, it does have great bargains. I do see the same brands here over and over. This makes me think that the stock that they can't sell at some nearby chain stores go here. yes, some stock brand new. I will be back.....very cost effective. read more

You know, things used to be much cheaper at thrift stores - back when I first started shopping at them way back in the early 1980's you could find incredible deals on quality merchandise - antiques, vintage clothing, costume jewelry, quality luggage and things like that were a dime a dozen. So if you haven't been in a thrift store for a long time you are going to be in for a surprise - the prices. Prices aren't rock bottom like they used to be. These stores are sources of Shabby Chic home decor, reusable goods and all the things that people who live a green life LOVE to buy and the prices at these stores has risen right along with the clientele. The people who do the pricing at big thrift stores like Value Village are knowledgeable about what quality items (used) are worth. Value Village is not a charity organization. It is a for profit business that is affiliated with some great community programs, but that's not quite the same. So, that being said, this is a particularly clean and well run Value Village. The employees are very helpful (though usually quite busy) and provide very good customer service. The prices are all right, but if you look closely you can still find some real deals - just need to have a good eye and watch for their regular sales. I haven't been to the Value Village over on the East side in ages (close to 5 years) so I can't say how they compare, but I sure think they offer a good sized, clean & respectable thrift store with average prices for the area. They offer a discount for those who bring their donation items to them (which is a real nice perk of taking them there instead of some other places). read more
