3.5 Stars to this place- Sweetpea's is a cute kids consignment shop in Sellwood off a fairly bustling street. I popped in just as they were about to close and snagged a couple bibs and onesie for my little one and tiny lego dolls for the girls. I felt like they had a bigger selection of bigger kids items and less for little (baby) boys and girls, but also understand that the store does not have a terrible large amount of room. I also felt like the prices were a tad on the steeper side in comparison to other kids consignment I've visited in Portland for most items (not all). The lady owner(?) was very kind and gave us a recycled bag for our goods, so we truly appreciated that. read more

I adore this place! I came here after we moved to Sellwood last year and fell in love right away. They have a super cute collection of gently used clothing and toys and really fabulous prices. Whenever my daughter needs new stuff, it's the first place I go. The owner is really sweet and always remembers both my name and my daughter's, and let's her walk around and play with the toys while I browse. I have consigned a few things and it was an easy process and the items sold went as credit to my account. Win/win. We moved away from Sellwood a while ago, but I still make the drive to go to Sweetpeas. read more

When we lived in Sellwood we lived walking distance to this store. I liked to take my kiddo in her stroller ( ok, it's been a while, ok) and duck in to see what was new. Some of her favorite toys that she still has came from this store, including some super cute wooden bookends. I love this store . I loved it when my kids were little and I still manage to find things now that they are older. Christine is a big help And will usually help w that last minute rush items I need when I realize my kids have no snow boots or pants. I also love that Scott , the other owner has a record shop next door . You can usually hear some kind of improv jazz tunes coming from the other side of the wall. Parents of Sellwood/Moreland - you have uber good taste and take awesome care of your kids clothes that you sell back consignment. I have bought more stuff under the likes of $9-$8 that would retail for $80, like the purple felt flowered jacket my niece will not take off for over a year now in California. She is the star of the snobby OC! Every mom leans over and asks my sister where did she get that cute outfit? Why of course from her hip auntie in PDX, OR who buys them second hand. PS There is a half price rack in the back too along with mommy pre and post clothes. Oh and toys and books! read more

1st time in this store...LOVED IT - other than it was SUPER hot inside! My 73 year old mother and 4 & 6 year old couldn't take the heat, either. I got some early school clothes on the 1/2 off rack!! TOTALLY SCORED! I got a Gap denim skirt, 2 Hanna Andersen skirts & sweat pants, 1 pull-over and PJ's for $25. I would have shopped more, but it was extremely hot inside the store and I couldn't take it any longer. They have really nice things and better quality garments - more so than some of the other resale shops I have been to. The prices are moderate - but you get what you pay for! Nice brands like Columbia, north face, gap kids, Target etc. not dirt cheap but you don't have to weed through stained , ripped stuff like at the thrift store and it's really nicely organized. read more

Great customer service which is rare in these kind of shops! But very high prices on low quality merchandise ($5-6 for t-shirts, $12 for shoes). I spent 10 minutes browsing and everything I saw was way too used/ dirty to be worth half the price they were asking. Didn't buy anything. read more

Yes! Awesome shop for my kiddo! I found some great clothes for 8 month old L. There is a broad range of sizes all the way up to kids and even for ladies! Super fun toys. We left with L's first four note piano for $6! The owner is super nice and helpful. The shop is impeccable and so easy to navigate. The owner encourages kids to play while the parents shop. I'll be bringing my gently used items here for store credit! When you're done getting some awesome clothes for super cheap, get a coffee next door at the new Either/Or. Perfect!! Where else can my daughter learn the value of her out-grown clothes, shoes, and special toys? We have brought in a number of bagsful of clothes, shoes and special toys (by appointment, natch) and watched as the owner, Lara, gives a critical but kind eye to our favorite things. We are careful to bring in only unstained, gently used items and Lara takes much of what we have. Then my daughter finds out what credit we have and goes on a little shopping spree. She has picked out artily altered t-shirts (appliqued, etc), purses, shoes and toys that I somehow neglected to buy her before. She also uses her credit to buy gifts for younger children or pregnant friends. Everyone who works with Lara is knowledgable and kind. The store is set up to keep your kids entertained while you shop. I love the neighborhood feel and the opportunity to support Lara and all the families whose consignments make it possible for the shop to be successful. read more

Sweetpea's is my neighborhood children's clothes and consignment shop. It's a quaint little place, nestled among other antique shops and bakery spots. My kids love going there. We lovingly refer to it as the "toy store" because they've got a myriad of toys and fun stuff for kiddos to play with at a reasonable price. The staff is always very accommodating and allows the kids to stay and play. There's always a lot of clothes and shoes to check out. Sometimes, they have a 1/2 price rack where you can find some real steals. Only issues: space is quite small, maybe a little small for the amount of product they have. Also, the clothes can be a little pricy for consignment wares. But as I mentioned, the toys are well priced, staff is uber friendly, and overall, it's a staple in our fun-places-to-go routine! read more

This is the most adorable little shop. I don't have kids, but I find myself in there all the time. The owner has a good eye for clothes. There is a small non-maternity womens sections. Here's my first and last experience at this place. I've never been here before and decided to pop in with an ikea sized bag not completely full. I did not look up the website before coming in because I just happened to be in the neighborhood, was driving and saw there was a kids consignment shop! I had heard of it before and it seemed like perfect timing as I had a bag of stuff I intended to take to my regular store I consign with often. It was around 2 pm on a Friday and there were only 1-2 other customers looking around when I arrived. Upon entering the shop with my bag the sales clerk seemed fairly annoyed and instead of greeting me she said "Just to let you know we don't take bags that large as a walk in because the owner doesn't like to price that many items right after the weekend when she's not here, it's up to you if you want me to look at them today but I will tell you I'm going to be extremely picky." No hello welcome in.... is this your first time in the store... nothing just a blunt sorry/not sorry attitude. Very off putting especially since it was my first experience with the store. After I explained that I've never been there before and just wanted to try somewhere new the clerk replied" it's better to look at a consignment shops website before you actually go there." Well I guess I would have if I had known I was going there, wasn't driving at the time when I passed by and also had my toddler in tow. I'm less than impressed and really bummed out that I was treated that way especially as a potential new customer. I don't think I will go back. I usually consign with a nearby store on Woodstock and on the west side as well.... I have never had a problem with either store taking that size bag as a walk in. I've also stopped my on a day when the shop on the west side didn't take consignments but because it was my first time in there they offered to take it anyway it and allowed me to pick it up a day or two later. I'm sure this shop is fine for purchasing items but I'm very disappointed that the customer service was lacking. Not a great way to get people to come back in my opinion. read more

I love the neighborhood location of this store. Their inventory has greatly expanded since the first time I went in a year ago. I will say though that every time I have gone in the people who work / run the store have not been very helpful or made me feel welcome. I was snubbed by them for only buying one item. Woman who works there is super rude. I've gone there a few times because it's near my work to look for gifts, almost every time it's closed during opened hours. Most recently the sign was flipped to open and I tried to open the door and it was locked. The woman inside just looked at me. I guess they don't want business. read more

The lady working there was awesome. She welcomed us as we came in and immediately directed us to what we need. She was very warm and personable. I wish I could say more about the quality of the inventory. It simply was much older, more worn clothing than I was use to. There were a few nice pieces for the babies but getting into the older 5's and bigger, they didn't seem to have any quality name brands in stock. They had a few discounted racks which was great if you are really looking for a great deal! The story was clean and well organized too. read more

Great resale shop! They took most of what I brought in. They either do trade or consignment which is nice if you don't want to wait for your stuff to sell to get a credit. They had tons of items from baby & children's clothes to toys to maternity to baby products to regular women's wear. The guy working here was very informative and explained their whole process & store layout very clearly. They just opened another location on Alberta which is very clean and cute. Not as many items at this store yet (obviously because they just opened) but both are worth a try. I will definitely be back! read more

I have found a few nice things here to buy, but when I took my items in to sell them I was not happy with the outcome. I dropped off about 10 really nice, really expensive maternity items and a brand new Moby wrap. I did receive a message about my remaining items being donated. When I returned the call I got the answering machine during business hours. I left a message asking about my items that did sell and explained that I would come pick up my items that were left over if they were still there. I have not heard back at all! I really did like this shop and was telling friends and family how great it was.. guess what I'm telling them now! I will not be shopping here again read more

My go-to store to consign my kids' clothes. They are picky about what they take, but as a customer, I appreciate knowing they look merchandise over carefully for stains or tears. I mostly consign here, but sometimes shop for gifts and when I need a specific item for my kids. The owner is always friendly. Glad they are in the neighborhood! read more

This is by far my favorite kid's consignment shop in Portland. The owner, Laura (sp?) is super nice and really, really doesn't mind your child playing in the store while you shop. The things are so reasonably priced (I just bought pair of ecco shoes/boots in near perfect condition for $8-they are $60 new) and it is clean and well set up. Some of the other consignment shops, even though they have decent merchandise, just smell awful and it is not the most pleasant feeling shopping in the midst of mold and mildew smells. Go next store and get a coffee from Lovecup and icecream for your little one then next door to Sweetpea's to shop and play. It is a fun outing!. read more

Ok so I have heard many great things about Sweet Peas so when I had a bunch of extra kids clothes I needed to trade in I headed here first. So I know when you bring things into resale shops you don't get too much but, when I brought in a large bag full of good clothes and a very nice backpack carrier, the lady who only took about 5 min to look through everything, took 3 items and the backpack. Now I did go for store credit because I would get more money that way, and with a new baby I could use the store credit. So once all was said and done I got about 10% of what I know she will turn around and sell them for! Rip off!!! On top of all of that, the selection (boys) was horrible, and over priced for what they were. If she would not be so stingy on what she took in, and maybe give a little bit better credit for things, the shop would have a better selection of items and would sell more things! Not going back, even with my $10 credit, waste of time! read more

What a wonderful surprise! After months of putting off maternity clothes shopping I happened upon Sweetpea's. They have an excellent selection of gently used children's clothing, high quality clothing for us mamas, and a toy corner my son couldn't resist. Not only was it okay for my child to play with them, but it was encouraged. (yay!) Everything appeared to be reasonably priced, the owner is really friendly, and they're only two blocks from my home. I used to love this store. The old owner was so friendly and organized. The new owners aren't as friendly and don't seem as organized. I dropped off clothes to sell. I've called a few times to check in on my sale items and the first time they couldn't find my card. The second time, they told me nothing had sold after being on the floor for over 2 months. The 3rd time I called, they told me I had $10 worth of credit. When I asked if I could pick up the unsold items since they had been on the floor for awhile and they were summer clothing, they told me they have no way of knowing which items are mine and I would need to go through the racks and pick out my own clothes. I guess that's fine considering they are a small business, but the woman's attitude towards me on the phone was very rude. She didn't even say goodbye or thank you...just hung up the phone. I don't think I will be taking any more clothes in for resale here. Piccolina's in Woodstock or Clinton are much better at this! read more

Several times, I have brought in bags of nice clothing...and she won't take any of them. Does she want a large selection of nice clothes? This is the best children's resale store. The shop is so welcoming and adorable with the murals on the wall and the kids play areas. There are locally made baby clothes as well as all the consigned clothes for kids, maternity and regular womens clothes. The counter always has the most adorable things, like cupcake pillows, soaps, handmade jewelry by Lara, the owner. The prices for everything are always super reasonable. I have consigned at close to 10 places around portland, and Sweetpea's was one of my least favorite. I got a smaller percentage than other stores, they lost some of my tags and tried to pay me for less items than were sold, they didn't return my calls, and their items were pricier than other stores. The store is under new ownership since last summer and they have expanded their inventory quite a bit! in addition to all the good used stuff, they have lots of great, locally made NEW items, and an always stocked half price rack.
