Hendra W.

While driving back to Denver from Rocky Mountain National Park, I stumbled upon a highly recommended restaurant in Boulder. Unfortunately, both the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Lamb Biryani were underwhelming. The Tikka Masala was surprisingly bland, and I'm honestly not sure how this place garnered good reviews for it. As for the Lamb Biryani, it had a distinctly sour taste, likely due to a tomato-based sauce, which was very unusual for biryani in my experience--I've never had lamb biryani with sour rice before! The only other drawback was the staffing--they seemed unprepared for the Fourth of July crowds. Given the disappointing food, I would not recommend this place.

We wanted to reach out because we've noticed a big change in the food recently, the last 2-3 times we've ordered from here, and we're wondering if perhaps your primary chef is no longer with you. Or what has changed and inquire if there is any hope for the food returning to its previous. The only dish that has been close to its usual quality is the tandoori chicken. However, even that has been inconsistent--online it says 1/2 chicken, but what we received was two thigh/drumstick pieces. Our favorite dish, the Shogo Khatsa, used to be truly incredible--crispy pan-fried potatoes with that deep red color, fresh herbs, and bold spices. Recently, it's been more like a stew, with a thinner texture and less flavor. We miss that unique version that kept us coming back time after time! It is now more like a stew of potatoes that has average flavor We also tried the Vegetable Korma with a few special requests, but the dish arrived a bit different than expected, with lots of the items we requested to not include- bell peppers and zucchini... and a weirdly thinner minimal flavor sauce. In the past, the korma here was one of the best--rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. We're sharing this because we'd love to see the food return to the same consistency and flavor that first made us fall in love with this restaurant. We know how much potential is here, and we truly want to keep supporting a place that has brought us so many great meals and memories. We hope the owner shares what's changed and if it will be going back to the OG shogo Khatsa prep

Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - flavor profile is focused on acidity and spiciness so very different from other food we have. Rice was tough and not cooked all the way through but was herbed/spiced so it had interesting flavors Sampler MOMOs had thick dumpling wrapper The fillings are similar so we weren't quite sure which was which. The sauce was very spicy so it masks all flavors as well Shaptak is sliced beef wok fried with peppers in a spicy sauce. And indeed it was extremely spicy! Unfortunately, the cuts of meat were uneven which makes cooking it consistently difficult so there were some tough pieces. Bell peppers were also super uneven with two abnormally large pieces Pork with mixed vegetables was with pork belly so it was very queasy. They do vegetables very well, but not the meat unfortunately Ambience: N/A - nicely decorated but we ordered food to go Service: 5/5 - polite and quick service. Her quote of 20 minutes was fairly accurate. The to go food was very hot and was still warm when we ate Value for price: 2/5 - interesting to try as it's a different flavor profile than we're used to. Too salty and spicy for our enjoyment and not balanced.

What a delicious delight. The samosas were huge, fatly stuffed and mildly seasoned with curry. The soup was also lightly seasoned with Indian spices. Loaded with tender white chicken and asian veggies. This is definitely a find and so worth returning to in order to try a few other offerings. Times TWO: Came back for a second round this time with my friend, brother and sister-in-law. Now it was inconsistent. Both my friend and sis ordered korma. Both dishes not only looked different, but tasted very different. I wish i had photos. But one dish was sweet and had almonds; the other cashews and a completely different spice profile. Furthermore, my brother ordered lamb kofta. His summation was it was dry and needed a sauce. Me? I reordered the soup. It was very delightful; just way too many noodles and not enough veg.

Ordered the chicken tandoori and lamb curry lunch special which comes with naan, rice, lentil and veggie curry. The portion is great given the price. My personal favorite were the lentil and veggie curry.

Located on the north portion of Boulder. Yes there is parking and lots of it, +1. Entering the restaurant, there is a very heavy Tibetan vibe. Having been to Tibet previously, it's cool to see Tibetan/Indian/Nepalese food featured. We went with the lamb curry and chicken tandoori off the lunch menu. At $11 and $12, you cannot beat the value. Each dish comes with rice, naan, lentils, and a vegetable curry as a side to the meat. Really solid, filling, and delicious. Looks family owned to me; check it out and support local.

This place was great! We are here on a vacation and found Little Tibet on Yelp. We decided to give it a try and I'm so glad we did. The menu is so interesting that my husband suggested we try it again tomorrow. For lunch we shared the sampler Momo, chicken tikka and Garlic naan. Everything was good but the chicken was our favorite. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside and the inside is very basic but the service is good and the food divine!

Delicious food, lucky enough to catch the lunch special. The service was so exceptional from the kind people of Nepal. It was especially peaceful & serene with 14th Dalai Lama there on the pedestal. Remind us of Katmandu.

This place gets 4 starts for there dumpling type thing. It was so good I wish that was all I ordered. We had the veggie, chicken and beef dumpling type thing. Beef had a bunch of flavor. We also had the spicy pork dish that was just ok. It was not that spicy and did not have a bunch of flavor. read more

I should probably warn you not to go here so I can have it all to myself. But that's not right. This place is AWESOME. Like, I drive to Boulder and then take the extra trip up just to get som tikka masala. But everything is good. Fancy cuisine flavors at an affordable price and really nice staff. Food was alright, only thing I liked was the dumplings with the spicy sauce beware; it's VERY spicy (at least the batch they gave me was xtra spicy). Didn't like how bland the taste of the stir fry was, and most things on the menu I couldn't read or understand. Sub par in my opinion, but don't knock it till ya try it. ‍ read more

Excellent chicken tikka, good veggie pakoras, but so-so Tibetan grated potato dish. We arrived at 5:30 on a Friday night and had our choice of tables and had fast, attentive service. The food arrived quickly and was sizzling hot. Customers who arrived at 6:30 seemed frustrated by slow service. The staff are friendly and work hard... they probably need to hire another server. Prices are reasonable. We will definitely return and will order from the Indian side of the menu. (Maybe I am not fond of Tibetan food; I've always found it bland. I do adore Indian.) read more

I love this place, and I go once or twice a week. Food is always good, the order has never been screwed up, and the people are nice. There is a family feel to the place, and I want them to do well. I particularly love the Tibetan bread, and am slowly making my way through the entire menu. There is nothing I've order that I'd didn't like, although naturally some things better than others. Highly recommended! read more

We order here about once a week. I like that sometimes you get an outlier, ill-sliced chunk of ginger in a bite, like "you get what you get, don't get upset." The food may be a little rustic, but it's unquestionably tasty. Totally workable for vegans and we particularly like the vegetable korma (with coconut milk) and the veggie pakora. Delivery will take an hour so sit tight. It's worth it. read more

This place was recommended by a friend for momos and Indian food. We went there around 4:45 pm which is typically not a busy time for dinner. We ordered veggie momos, paneer tikka, laphing, dal makhani, channa and a bread basket. They didn't say anything about the wait time for the food to us but we heard them telling other customers it will be a 45 min wait. We got half of our food after a 45 minute wait. They told us they ran out of laphing and they forgot about the bread basket. By the time they got the breads, we had already finished most of our curries because we were famished. The breads were raw and undercooked. The food was really good but the customer service was terrible. We loved the veggie momos so we ordered them for pick up next day giving them enough time to prepare the order. When we picked our momos and took the first bite, there was beef in them. This is completely unacceptable. They were aware of the religious reasons and repeatedly told them veggie when we ordered. Even though the food is good, the customer service is terrible. I will not recommend this place, especially for dine-in. Also if you are vegetarian please proceed with caution. Never know what will be in your food. read more

Great food (in general) and very generous portions. We had the somosas and spring rolls for appetizers. Both were excellent. The spring rolls were different than we've had elsewhere...more a doughy fried covering than deep fried wraps...it was less greasy than other places. The chai tea was good. We had saag paneer and the baignan bharta (eggplant). Both were very generously sized dishes. The saag was excellent...mostly pureed spinach, but a subtle flavoring which really added to the dish. Less greasy than what we've had elsewhere. However, the baignan bharta dish was quite poor...not a lot of flavor, other than a somewhat burnt flavor. So, definitely avoid that dish. But we had plenty of food with the other dishes. read more

This spot is a golden nugget. INCREDIBLE! My boyfriend and I are Indian food fanatics, and lemme tell you.. this place is the bees knees. The restaurant is quiet, service is slow, and the atmosphere is exactly what you would expect. The food is off the hook! The lamb korma is a real delight, as is the chicken curry. The meat is great quality and always cooked to perfection. I must say the chicken vindaloo was dangerously spicy, but if you can handle that type of heat, go for it! The prices are decent and worth every penny. 10/10 recommend!! read more

We ordered the Aloo Gobi, a dish called "mushroom matter", basmati rice, "Indian style tea" which is just chai I don't know why they label it that way and a garlic naan. The aloo gobi was almost all cauliflower and lacked the brightness and salty sweetness I am used to, the mushroom dish also fell a bit flat although I've never seen this dish before so I have nothing to compare it to, the basmati rice was fairly short grained, not very fragrant and unspiced but the thing that got me was the crunchy toasted naan??! I was expecting your normal soft, pillowy, melt in your mouth steamy naan and I got what felt more like a crunchy pizza crust with no toppings, not that it was bad but it was wildly outside of what I was expecting and personally didn't like it, my daughter will eat any bread product and ate it instead. The service was incredibly nice, friendly, accommodating, and helpful, our food came quickly. I do wish they had some way of dealing with delivery drivers since they just loiter in the entry of the restaurant near the kitchen which happened to be right next to our booth and more than one large sweaty delivery driver was essentially leaning against my daughters side of the booth while waiting for pick up, kinda gross. They also need to replace their carpets and bench cushions but otherwise I loved the decor. Overall they need to step up their spice game, this is Indian food bring your A game and all other faults would be forgiven, except that crunchy naan. They also don't have Chana masala??!!? This is my go to and I've never seen this not offered at an Indian restaurant in my area. As a person spoiled by incredible Indian food this sadly doesn't hold up but it's good enough and better than other places we have tried in the area like Kathmandu II.

We ventured in on a Tue around 1pm and there were four other tables occupied (out of approximately 12 total). The host/owner was incredibly gracious and tended to our order and water/refills. The buffet included your standards (Tandoori chicken; Tiki Masala chicken; Chana Masala; Saag Paneer; Daal soup; Jasmine rice) along with fresh warmed naan. There are a couple of standard deserts as well including Gulab and rice pudding. The standouts were the Masala chicken and lentil (Daal) soup. The Tandoori chicken had a terrific crust on each piece (no breading of course) but they were barely even lukewarm. They also had a curry chicken but it was our least favorite (very plain) despite both of us loving curry. The naan was amazing (brought fresh, warm, and lightly brushed with oil from the kitchen) after we retrieved our first buffet plate. The creamed spinach (Saag) was very good if a bit too salty. And the same was true of the stewed chick peas (Chana). Restaurants really need to learn to under-salt as patrons can always add more! Ambience is standard/cliche South Asian and parking is plentiful and free in this small strip mall. At $17, this was a very reasonable and delicious post-hike feast. I pretended to go to the wash room and picked up a GC for my hostess and slipped it in her glovebox. Smooth eh. They just started offering gift certificates - be sure to keep your paper receipt with the GC in the same envelope, just in case.

Little Tibet in Boulder was recommended by a friend, so we decided to give it a try. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff set the stage for what we hoped would be a memorable dining experience. We opted for a trio of dishes - Momos, Tibetan bread, and Chilli Chicken. The Tibetan bread was an intriguing departure from the usual. Its unique texture and flavor introduced us to something completely new, adding a distinctive touch to our meal. It was a pleasant surprise and made our dining experience more interesting. The Momos, too, stood out with their soft exterior and delicious stuffing. The chefs knew what they were doing with these traditional Tibetan dumplings. They were a hit and left us wanting more. However, the Chilli Chicken didn't quite hit the mark. Despite our anticipation, the chicken turned out to be dry and overly tough. The dish lacked the succulence we were hoping for, and the texture overshadowed any potential flavors promised by its name. In summary, our time at Little Tibet was a mix of highs and lows. The Tibetan bread and Momos showcased the kitchen's ability to create unique and tasty dishes. On the flip side, the Chilli Chicken fell short, leaving us wishing for a juicier and more tender preparation. If you're up for exploring Tibetan cuisine, Little Tibet has its highlights, but you might want to stick to their more successful offerings. read more

They hit the spot! We are picky eaters and we do believe in great service and tasty fresh food. My husband was a chef and i am from France/ Switzerland, so we both have certain expectations regarding dining out. The service was EXCELLENT. The food FABULOUS. The space was welcoming, simple and comfortable. The price is fantastically appropriate especially for Boulder ! Highly recommended!!! True taste of Tibetan food. Having eaten in Tibetan setting outside of the US, I am So happy I went there with my friends this evening. As a foodie, I firmly believe if the sauce is good the food is great. I had this authentic sauce both red and white along with my momos and I firmly believe in their food. Freshly made and served with love. Way to go and all the very best. The garlic butter naan is to die for. Total Authenticity!! read more

We had lunch at Little Tibet on Sunday 4/28/19. Six people in our party. The service was excellent. Both the Tibetan and Indian dishes were excellent. One person in our party stated "this is the best vindaloo curry I have ever eaten". We had a wide variety of dishes, all excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant for great food and service as well as a great adventure into Tibetan cuisine. read more

The sev puri isn't listed on the Togo menu or online, but if you dine in you should order it. They are served cold, with a potato interior and a round crispy exterior made of papadum. It's topped with a tamarind chutney that was all things tangy and sweet, with a touch of spice. We also had the chicken korma, the chicken tikka masala, and the lamb vindaloo. They were all good but I might try a different one next time just to try and find my favorite. All the curry dishes were huge and served with an equally large dish of rice- 2 people can absolutely share 1 dish. Medium was the perfect amount of spice for us. The garlic cheese naan was excellent. Highly highly recommend and we will be back.

Last night, I went with a friend who has a lot of food allergies, so it's tricky. The host convinced us to try an appetizer that neither of us had tried before - and probably won't try again. I'm sure younger people like it. It was the samosa chaat. It came out looking very different from the picture on the website, and had a lot of raw onion, which doesn't sit well with either of us. So, that was a miss, at least for us. But the main dishes were very good. My friend had chicken saag to which they added some extra vegetables. I had vegetable korma, in which they threw a little bit of chicken. We also had garlic naan. I had a mango lassi (delicious), and my friend had chai. All tasted wonderful. We requested mild, and we received mild. That doesn't always happen at other restaurants, but it did here, and for that we are both grateful. We hadn't asked for dessert, but the owner brought me a carrot, milk, and spice dessert with a candle in it called carrot halwa for my birthday. It was odd to look at, but delicious. I was just so full! My friend had some kind of reaction with her throat and neck, but we just sat there for longer, and it calmed down. We suspect it was either too much dairy or perhaps there's a spice that didn't agree with her. We don't blame the restaurant, and I'm glad they didn't rush us out of there.
