She made the entire speech therapy process feel comfortable and encouraging, which made a huge difference in my progress. Sofia took the time to truly understand my goals and tailored each session to my specific needs. She explained techniques clearly, provided helpful exercises to practice outside of sessions, and always celebrated progress, no matter how small. Her supportive and positive approach kept me motivated and confident. I saw real improvement thanks to her guidance, and I genuinely looked forward to each appointment. If you're looking for a skilled, compassionate, and dedicated speech therapist, I highly recommend Sofia and the team at Crossroads Speech & Occupational Therapy.

His patience was short, which made communication tough. He also had delays with motor skills. He could hold utensils and knew they were for eating--he would bring them to his mouth--but he wasn't able to hold them strongly or in the correct way. After months of practice and support, he's now using utensils just fine, and I'm so proud of how far he's come. He began receiving Speech Therapy-Grace, Occupational Therapy-Madelyn, and Developmental Therapy-Shirley once a week. After 8 months of consistent therapy, the progress has been incredible. Lino is now able to make sentences, loves to sing, and can clearly say what he wants. His play skills have also grown--he enjoys playing with others and now involves people around him, which has been wonderful to see. We are especially grateful to his therapist, who has shown how much they truly care about Lino. The patience, dedication, and encouragement they've given him (and us as parents) mean so much. They don't just teach--they celebrate every small win with us, and that has made all the difference. Looking back, it's amazing to see how much progress he has made, and we are deeply thankful for the team who has supported him every step of the way.

In receiving services with cps there was a lot inconsistency with services and the therapist was changing frequently. So naturally I thought that if we paid for private services this problem can be avoided. So I searched for a private practice . I was assured that the request for having my child consistently work with the same therapist would be fulfilled. Those assurances gave me peace of mind and with that we enroll our child. Now I'm being informed that my child will no longer be able to work with the same therapist due to policy change. I asked what the out of pocket expense would be to keep my son with the same therapist and was informed that "regrettably" that wasn't an option. Again I re-iterated to the facility prior to enrollment the importance it was for me to have 1 instructor work with my child. And now (a few short months later) my family and I can no longer be accommodated.

He has made real gains with using his AAC device and also learning strategies to help him control behavior. Merlin provides comprehensive therapeutic services, including ABA, ST, PT, OT, and Social Work, in addition to educational services. The staff are insightful, creative, patient, compassionate and fun, and my son absolutely loves his time at school. The learning mixed with therapeutic play is just right for him developmentally, and his therapists take a holistic approach to building social and academic, and other skills he'll need to function throughout life. As someone who taught for nearly a decade and has worked in school settings since, I can fully appreciate the level of individual attention he gets from his therapists and therapeutic assistants, the extensive communication with families to stay up to date on our goals for our child and to let us know how his day is going (including notes and photos throughout the day!). And mostly I appreciate that he is not just sitting around at a desk all day doing differentiated work--I he is active and thinking, engaged, and having fun as he builds new skills. I see the review from two and a half months ago, and I think the context there is important: hers was the very first child to transition from private insurance to ISBE funding, so it makes sense that she personally would have experienced the growing pains as they adjust to a different system. I can imagine that this is a steep learning curve, and I'd extend some grace to them as they figure it out. In our second year at the Avondale location, I'd say they have worked out a lot of kinks, and that this is a joyful place for my child to learn throughout the day. We have found it to be a godsend.

Prior to that,…read morehe had been receiving in-home Early Intervention services and just before his 3rd birthday he was formally diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The news was hard to digest, and my heart hurt. I really knew nothing about Autism, I didn't know where to start. With his Early Intervention services stopping, it became my mission to act fast and find my son the BEST possible help I could find him. That's when we found Blue Bird Day. Right from the start, I knew this was the place for my son. From the very first phone call, to the site visit & tour, to meeting the staff, bringing my son in for evaluation...every step of the way the entire staff was so helpful, caring and knowledgeable. I knew my little guy would be in good hands and I truly believed he'd be getting THE BEST help I could find for him. Aside from the 4-hour school day, he also receives individualized/intensive therapy. In just a little over 7 months he has already made so much progress! He's socializing, vocalizing more, communicating his needs in various ways including signing...he is just thriving! Every teacher, assistant and therapist at BBD is amazing...they truly care about my son and are just as excited as I am every time he accomplishes something new or meets a goal. I am so thankful that I found Blue Bird Day & to be part of the Blue Bird family. I don't know where we'd be without them!

They came highly recommended by OTs from EI and from colleagues at UIH. So far my daughter has had astronomical leaps in communication, social emotional skills, self regulation, and academic (kindergarten) skills. She still has a lot of things to work on but the team has been amazing. I want to specially shout out Salena, the BEST BCBA ever. She sets aside an hour bi weekly to talk to me about my daughter's progress, my future goals and priorities, and sometimes acts as a parent therapist to help me manage my own expectations and anxieties. For a long time, my daughter would not enter public bathrooms. This is something we've been working on for years. Since Salena has taken over her case, my daughter now goes inside Starbucks and Trader Joes and even washes her hands! This has been the MOST progress she's had on this front. My daughter is also very attached and affectionate towards Salena, which is a testament to her skills and genuine care.

I would like to formally express my concerns regarding the care provided by Dr. Sarah R. Jorgenson…read more Over the course of my mother's care, it has been extremely difficult to obtain timely appointments with Dr. Jorgenson. She is frequently unavailable, and appointments are repeatedly rescheduled by the office to other physicians within the same network because she is unavailable. In addition, messages often go unanswered, making it very difficult to communicate regarding important medical issues. My greatest concern occurred today when Dr. Jorgenson refused to authorize a refill of my mother's high blood pressure medication. My mother is 84 years old and has a history of hypertension. At the time the refill was denied, she had completely run out of her medication. T he reason given was that my mother had not been seen in one to two years. However, this is inaccurate. We have been to the office at least twice during 2026. On multiple occasions, appointments originally scheduled with Dr. Jorgenson were rescheduled by the office because she was unavailable. It is unfair for my mother to be denied essential medication due to circumstances beyond her control. The pharmacist at our local pharmacy also expressed concern about the situation, stating that abruptly discontinuing blood pressure medication in an elderly patient could place her at unnecessary medical risk. Despite this, we were told that no refill would be provided and that my mother would have to wait until her next appointment on July 14 before receiving her medication. I find this situation deeply concerning. Denying an 84-year-old patient access to essential blood pressure medication while requiring her to wait weeks for an appointment raises serious concerns about continuity of care and patient safety. I advise you all to be careful. Specially lf your elderly individuals with chronic medical conditions--or your Children's are been seen and put at risk by careless this individuals.
