In receiving services with cps there was a lot inconsistency with services and the therapist was changing frequently. So naturally I thought that if we paid for private services this problem can be avoided. So I searched for a private practice . I was assured that the request for having my child consistently work with the same therapist would be fulfilled. Those assurances gave me peace of mind and with that we enroll our child. Now I'm being informed that my child will no longer be able to work with the same therapist due to policy change. I asked what the out of pocket expense would be to keep my son with the same therapist and was informed that "regrettably" that wasn't an option. Again I re-iterated to the facility prior to enrollment the importance it was for me to have 1 instructor work with my child. And now (a few short months later) my family and I can no longer be accommodated.

He has made real gains with using his AAC device and also learning strategies to help him control behavior. They have also presumed competence in his education and have helped him move up the ladder academically. Merlin provides comprehensive therapeutic services, including ABA, ST, PT, OT, and Social Work, in addition to educational services. The staff are insightful, creative, patient, compassionate and fun, and my son absolutely loves his time at school. The learning mixed with therapeutic play is just right for him developmentally, and his therapists take a holistic approach to building social and academic, and other skills he'll need to function throughout life. As someone who taught for nearly a decade and has worked in school settings since, I can fully appreciate the level of individual attention he gets from his therapists and therapeutic assistants, the extensive communication with families to stay up to date on our goals for our child and to let us know how his day is going (including notes and photos throughout the day!). And mostly I appreciate that he is not just sitting around at a desk all day doing differentiated work--I he is active and thinking, engaged, and having fun as he builds new skills. I see the review from two and a half months ago, and I think the context there is important: hers was the very first child to transition from private insurance to ISBE funding, so it makes sense that she personally would have experienced the growing pains as they adjust to a different system. I can imagine that this is a steep learning curve, and I'd extend some grace to them as they figure it out. In our second year at the Avondale location, I'd say they have worked out a lot of kinks, and that this is a joyful place for my child to learn throughout the day. We have found it to be a godsend.

I would like to formally express my concerns regarding the care provided by Dr. Sarah R. Jorgenson…read more Over the course of my mother's care, it has been extremely difficult to obtain timely appointments with Dr. Jorgenson. She is frequently unavailable, and appointments are repeatedly rescheduled by the office to other physicians within the same network because she is unavailable. In addition, messages often go unanswered, making it very difficult to communicate regarding important medical issues. My greatest concern occurred today when Dr. Jorgenson refused to authorize a refill of my mother's high blood pressure medication. My mother is 84 years old and has a history of hypertension. At the time the refill was denied, she had completely run out of her medication. T he reason given was that my mother had not been seen in one to two years. However, this is inaccurate. We have been to the office at least twice during 2026. On multiple occasions, appointments originally scheduled with Dr. Jorgenson were rescheduled by the office because she was unavailable. It is unfair for my mother to be denied essential medication due to circumstances beyond her control. The pharmacist at our local pharmacy also expressed concern about the situation, stating that abruptly discontinuing blood pressure medication in an elderly patient could place her at unnecessary medical risk. Despite this, we were told that no refill would be provided and that my mother would have to wait until her next appointment on July 14 before receiving her medication. I find this situation deeply concerning. Denying an 84-year-old patient access to essential blood pressure medication while requiring her to wait weeks for an appointment raises serious concerns about continuity of care and patient safety. I advise you all to be careful. Specially lf your elderly individuals with chronic medical conditions--or your Children's are been seen and put at risk by careless this individuals.

I began working with her on the heels of a difficult break up, and she patiently helped me to find a path forward and regain my power. Within a couple months of our first session, the global pandemic hit and we moved from in person to video therapy -- the transition was seamless. I was single and living alone during that time, and Jana's empathy and support were a life line for me. She is kind, compassionate, and really takes the time to see and understand the full person. I still refer back to conversations we had and resources she gave me to navigate new challenges that I encounter in life. I am healthier today because of my time with Jana. When I started to consider a move away from the Chicago area, a major con on my list was that I could no longer work with Jana. I will be forever grateful to her for her time and heart. If you have the chance to work with her, cherish every moment. She's one of the best out there!
