We found PR Orthotics almost by accident, but given our experience with Lurie Childrens and many other pediatric center, when we came here, Pat knew exactly what we wanted and how we should proceed. It was absolutely amazing to get a helmet for our daughter within 10 days -- my coworkers had to wait for a month after a series of unnecessary tests at other orthotics places. They also had to have two helmets and the whole treatment took 6 months. Our daughter started wearing a helmet when she was about 6.5 months and it took us 2.5 months to get the results we wanted. Dr. Pat was excellent in getting my 4 month old daughter set up with a helmet due to her torticollis and plagiocephaly. I'm very thankful the process was so easy and we had her helmet on within two weeks. Since my daughter had a very mild case, she was in and out of the helmet in 6 weeks, just as Dr. Pat predicted. HORRIBLE !  Will never use this company again! I have a daughter with multiple disabilities and requires AFO's in order to walk. Usually use "Hanger Clinic" previously known as "Scheck & Siress" for AFO's. So our PT suggested we try something different because "Chicago Pediatric Orthotics" was in network. Pat came up with new AFO's for our daughter. Everything after was a disaster! The company way over billed our insurance company and my insurance company covered a small portion of the cost. I had to make up the remainder, which was a lot. WAY MORE THAN WE HAVE EVER PAID IN THE PAST! My daughter gets new AFO's once or twice a year, and I have never been billed this much before or had to pay this much of a difference, that wasn't covered by my insurance company. Furthermore, the administrator Lori, sends me an email for the invoice and then just puts the invoice on my credit card without authorization. I was assured that they would call me and let me know if I would have to pay anything that wasn't covered. Lori was ignorant and insisted the email served as authorization.  After aprox. 10 years of getting AFO's for my daughter at different providers, I think I know what the cost and co-pay for them should be! It's very obvious you "WAY" over charge. So much so that 1 of your employees even admitted to your company having a VERY large number of clients NOT paying their co-pay. Pat Rogel has been my daughters orthotist since she was 2.5 years old and now going on 12. She provides exceptional care for those in the special needs population. Not only is she an orthotist but an OT as well. We initially met her thru Children's Lurie's in my daughters early years. She is able to make customized AFO's (ankle foot orthosis), as well as helmets for your child or infant. Her specialization is working specifically with the pediatric population. She is extremely knowledgeable and has been doing this a long time. She is very much an advocate for your child and helps to think outside the box when it comes to working to find a solution. Went for a second opinion after complete helmet therapy at cranial tech...I wanted to see if my child needed another helmet because he still was not corrected. Chicago pediatric orthotics is way easier to get in for an appointment at a time you want, they actually see you on time, and their scanner is quick and easy. They have a conservative approach and will be honest on whether or not your child really needs a helmet versus cranial tech which will 99% of the time tell you they need a helmet (and then you'll end up needing a second one as well almost very time). Words cannot describe how grateful I am to Pat and PR Orthotics! We took our baby to one place recommended by her pediatrician to find out if the baby needed a helmet for a little flat part in her head. We were disappointed beyond belief! I brought my son here to be evaluated by Pat for a second opinion on him needing a helmet after going to Cranial Technologies. Cranial Technologies said my son needed a helmet because his ears were uneven and had a slight flat spot on his head. Pat played with my son and did measurements of his head. She did not recommend a helmet, just more tummy time! I then took my son to a pediatric surgeon, Dr. Vicari who also did not recommend a helmet. Pat was right. If I could give Pat more than 5 stars, I would!  We noticed a flat spot forming on the back of our daughter's head and brought it up to her pediatrician.  At her 4 month checkup, our pediatrician referred us to Lurie for an evaluation and also recommended physical therapy. Unfortunately, when I went to make the appointment at Lurie's, there wasn't any availability for over 6 weeks. With plagiocephaly, time is of the essence to correct the issue. Thankfully, a mutual friend referred me to Pat, and we could not be more grateful! Pat was able to fit us in for an initial evaluation within a few days of my call. Both my husband and I work full-time, so she worked with our schedules to ensure we could get in as soon as possible. From the initial appointment, I knew we were in good hands.  My daughter has a severe case of plagiocephaly, and Pat took the time to go over her measurements, explain why she would benefit from a helmet, and provided us with realistic expectations of how long she would be in the helmet. Pat was extremely personable throughout the initial appointment -- and as a first time mom, her demeanor put me at ease. 10 days later, we picked up the helmet, and Pat did an excellent job with explaining the process from start to finish at that appointment. She provided us with a packet of information that contained caring for the helmet, tips for keeping baby comfortable, and a schedule for the first few days to "wean in" the helmet. Pat made sure I was comfortable putting on/taking off the helmet and also gave us a cleaning kit to use each day. My daughter has been in her helmet only for a week, but we have already seen a 30% improvement in her asymmetry. We are absolutely thrilled with the results and are looking forward to seeing all of her progress throughout the course of treatment. We are so thankful for Pat and cannot recommend her enough! If you are in need of an evaluation for plagiocephaly, Chicago Pediatric Orthotics is the place to go **UPDATED** We recently had my daughter's final appointment with Pat, and her head shape has FAR exceeded all expectations! When we first visited Pat, my daughter was on the severe spectrum, and after just over 9 weeks in her helmet, my daughter is now within normal limits. The difference is incredible! From day one, Pat emphasized the importance of being in the helmet for 23 hours a day and reassured us that our daughter was not uncomfortable, was not overheating, etc. We stuck to Pat's recommendations and were also diligent with cleaning the helmet daily (thanks to the convenient cleaning kit Pat provided!) Highly recommend Dr. Pat. We wanted to get a baby helmet for my son's flat head. We switched to this practice after in contact with another practice. We were very satisfied with PR for the following reason. 1. Cost. You can save $300 for the head scan at Dr. Vicari's practice(very skechy charge) . PR can do it for free. 2. Efficiency. This is SO IMPORTANT!!! The early the baby wears the helmet, the better the result will be. We wasted almost a month at Scheck and Siress and still not even close to get the approval from insurance. They just didnt file anything for us. We came to PR, saw the Dr and got the insurance approval and helmet in hand in just 2 weeks. 3. Accessibility. Pat and her assisstant are always answering emails and calls for my questions. They helped me to fight the insurance to get the approval. They always keep me updated. I really regreted not to come to PR earlier. So my son can get his helmet quickly. DO NOT go to Scheck and Siress or Dr. Vacari at childrens hospital. Pat was absolutely amazing, I couldn't be more thankful that she was honest and broke down the results of his scan to prove he didn't need a helmet. She evaluated him throughly and gave us tips on how to better correct his Torticollis, which was causing a side of his head to become a bit flat.
