Oy, I have a lot of feelings about this practice…read more 1) The facility in Skokie is amazing. Super new, clean, and modern. I love it. This is probably my favorite part of T&C, sadly. 2) I like the nurses more than the doctors; they're much friendlier and engaging with my son than the doctors are. 3) The front desk staff is also very friendly and helpful. 5 stars for them and the nurses! 4) We've seen 4 doctors so far and we haven't fallen in love with any. This is obviously very subjective, but so far none seem to be really excited to work with babies? We only have 1 child so far who is 3 months old, so I have no context for pediatricians and how engaging they are with babies, but so far it's just not really what I expected. We did, however have one doctor while at the hospital who we really liked (Dr. Bergquist) but she's at the Halsted location which isn't really where we want to go due to distance. Finally.... 5) The billing department is A MESS. They are the reason I'm looking to change practices. So far, I've received 3 bills, none of which were billed to my insurance. After numerous calls back and forth between them and my insurance, I discovered that the billing department folks simply weren't calling the number on my insurance card or going to the website to confirm my son's coverage. Basically, my insurance company, Aetna, is billed through a separate company, Allied, which isn't in T&C's system. Since mid October I've had Allied representatives reach out to T&Cs billing department on two separate occasions to confirm my coverage. The verdict was that T&C billing now has to go through this lengthy, separate process to confirm my son's coverage which will for some reason take at least 45 business days to finalize. In the meantime, I'm on the hook for 2 out of the 3 bills (for some reason one of the bills was properly billed to my insurance, so I'm doubly confused as to why the other two are going through this separate process) Between the two bills that I just have to "wait" on for 45 days, it's almost $900, so obviously I don't want to pay for something that my insurance will cover a large portion of. I have a feeling, sadly, in the end this won't get resolved and I'll for whatever reason be turned over to collections for payment,. This is what happened to my landlord who used to take her son to T&C and ran into similar issues with the billing department. All of the reps I've spoke with sound miserable and like it's a chore to help you, which, while I'm sure it's not a fun job, it's not something I can do anything about as a patient who is trying to not drown in medical bills that aren't my responsibility. Hopefully they fix the issue soon but I imagine they'll lose more patients because of the awful billing department practices and staff.

For a large practice this place SUCKS administratively. And really, WHY ELSE would you go to a…read morelarge practice?? TWICE they have not sent records over for my son. This time for OVER TWO MONTHS. And the medical record office does not answer the phone EXCEPT ON TUESDAYS. What backwards, unfriendly-to-patients, uncaring kind of place is this. Oh don't forget the doctor who suggested my son was autistic as if it would be some dread disease if he were. Ableist and disgraceful.

My wives doctor introduced us, after a long night of labor and Dr Ruiz set up an appointment for our first baby visit. As exhausted parents, after a midnight birth and no sleep, I am sure we would have made an appointment to fly to the moon, if someone signed us up. We visited Dr Ruiz and really liked her and decided to continue with her for the last 6 years. She is really good with children and that confidence is good for the little ones because they feel safe. Plus she makes the nurses do the dirty work with the shots. Kids do not like shots and as a parent it is so sad to see them cry when they are really full of fear and pain. Recently the nurse drew a smiley face around her test and handed a piece of gauze and told her to keep wiping his nose. It was very cute and kind of erased the pain from her mind. I also must compliment the new location. It is only a block down from the old building. I know it took years to complete but it is really nice. The waiting room is really comfy now with a TV playing kids shows and another room with toys to keep them occupied while waiting. They did an amazing job of putting it all together. This is not the closest doctor to us but we feel safe that Dr Ruiz is like the 6th person to meet our little one. All of her shots and checkups have been done here and that makes us feel safe when getting those. So if you are nearby and looking for a doctor good with children, then I highly recommend Dr Ruiz.

I have 4 kids that see Dr. Ruiz; we LOVE her! She's attentive and is great with the little ones.read more
