I was staying at a hotel around the corner. Couldn't decide where to eat. I just wanted something light to take back to the hotel. I went in to look at the menu at the bar and decided to get an order of fiesta tacos to go. When they arrived I was hungry so I decided to eat one there while it was hot. OMG! It was so good. Piping hot. The steak was seared perfectly and the quality was pretty good for the price point. I couldn't stop there. I had to eat another one. Guys these are the best tacos I have had in a long time. I highly recommend this little hidden gem. I will be coming back next time I am in town to explore more of their menu. read more

Bad service always ruins a good restaurant. I recently went to the Little Shack near UTEP on 4/23 for lunch and presented a Little Shack gift card to pay for the meal. I had just received it as a gift. The waitress didn't know how to process the card, however, when she came back to the table she told me with a lot of attitude that the gift card had no money on it. I felt like she was trying to embarrass me and make it seem like I was a scammer. I scanned the QR code to show her that it had $25 on it. She was completely unapologetic, and told me to come over to the register in the bar area to watch her process it to prove to me that it didn't work. (How would I know??) I know the gift card was purchased at this location so how come no one there knows how to process the card? To me that seems like a scam. In the end I had to pay with my debit card. read more

We tried a Michelob ultra michelada which was tasty, plenty of lime and salt. Husband tried the campechana cocktail and it was so-so. Great they had a mix of scallops, oyster, shrimp in the dish, but you could tell the shellfish were frozen and the "thawed" liquid was just in the dish. It tasted watered down with a slightly off frozen liquid flavor. Not pleasant after having fresh oysters in Florida. May just try the ceviche next time. I've been a loyal customer here and usually love the food, but today was very disappointing. I ordered my favorite fish soup for takeout to help cure my hangover. When I got home, I realized they didn't include the lime or rice -- which are essential to completing the dish. I called to let them know, and the manager only offered me chips and salsa, which doesn't make up for missing the main sides that come with the meal. IIt doesn't matter if it's "just a side" when you pay for a meal, you expect it to be complete. 6/11/20 I came here for lunch, I haven't had tacos in a while and came across this restaurant thanks to yelp. I ordered the taco combo 3 which includes 3 various seafood tacos; fish, shrimp and octopus. I also got a side order of their rice. Everything was very delicious especially the rice, I ended up having that for dinner. The octopus taco was interesting, it has a dense texture so if you're not into that, stick to fish and shrimp but I enjoyed each different taco. Everything was fresh and I was able to enjoy my meal inside as this restaurant was allowing indoor seating. I would definitely return here again if and when I'm in the area. read more

The fish tacos were great. Some of the best I have tasted. I added avocado wedges for final touch before adding the chipotle sauce. Service was quick & easy. The food is always fresh and delicious... they have one of the best salsas in town. Fish tacos are the best too. The only issue I have and why they didn't get a 5 star is because there is one waitress there that talks more to the other servers or the guys that sit at the bar versus serving. Have had to wait a while both times we got her for her to come around and refill drinks, ask if we need anything or anything else. She's never had attitude though and she's young so I'm sure she's just in the stage of talking to her peers more, but the other servers have been great! read more

Mexican seafood in a Cali inspired diner. I love it. The prices are beyond reasonable and the food is flavorful. The Little Shack is easily one of my favorite seafood joints in El Paso. I have never been to the original TLS, but I'd heard about it, read reviews, seen pictures. When I saw another one opened only a few miles away, I said to no one in particular, "Either they just made a ridiculously silly decision or it's just that good." I've come to the conclusion it's just that good! I love the decorations because it's just enough to give that beach vibe without being overbearing. My inner Beyoncé likes to repeat "surfboard, surfboard" when I'm here. Although there are huge floor to ceiling windows, it feels dark inside (but a good dark). There's still plenty of light, but the wood that are inside give it a hideaway feel. So while you're looking over the menu, they'll bring out your complimentary chips and salsa. Because what's a Mexican restaurant without chips and salsa? When I ate here with my foodie PIC, Ben A., he didn't seem particularly found of the salsa and although it was different than what I've come to expect out of local Mexican restaurants, I enjoyed it and it seemed a fitting salsa for a Mexican seafood joint. It wasn't ridiculously spicy, but it had a warmth to it. Sometime after eating all my chips and having a refill come out (hey, sometimes you're just that hungry) I decided to order fish soup because I had a sore throat and was a little sick. Our food came out really fast, hot and yummy. The soup was perfect to soothe my throat and cough. The veggies in it were all bite size...nothing ridiculously large that I had to uncomfortably take multiple bites out of. Plating adds to the "I'm just right on the beach" feel because it all comes in either styrofoam bowls or paper plates. Anywhere else this would be out of place, but it just works here. I don't believe they have their fish flown in daily...I'm guessing it's frozen cuts, but either way it's tasty and so ridiculously inexpensive that it's just too hard to pass up. read more

Delicious! I started off with an oyster shot (no alcohol in it) it was my first time having one and the mix the oyster was in was delicious !!!! They have a nice cerveza selection and you can even dress up your beer with Clamato or michelada (lime juice and salt mix) they have a nice menu with various options. The tacos can be ordered by the order of 3 or individually if you want to try different ones (which is what I did). The tacos are a great size with enough filling inside of them. The aioli sauce that comes with the tacos is delicious and the table salsa they give you with tostadas at the beginning is delicious! Make sure to add it to the tacos. Simple math menu says a three taco combo is $9.50 and a single taco is $3.50 so I got three shrimp tacos and then I added one beef taco expecting bill $13. and they insisted on charging me $14 because that's a 4 taco combo price ? This was clearly $13. I talk to their waitress about this and she just ignored it says well the prices are probably wrong. I said well I want to pay what the menu says. Fantastic tacos! I had 2 shrimp tacos and 1 fish taco. When I asked whether the fish and shrimp were fried, I was told that they usually come fried but could be grilled if I were willing to wait a few extra minutes. I was thrilled! I hadn't expected this option, and I'm definitely willing to wait a few extra minutes for grilled food. The flavor was already fantastic, and the cilantro sauce/dressing added an extra kick. Stopped by for fish tacos at lunch. The tortilla was a bit under warmed for my taste but the fish was perfectly breads and cooked. The cabbage was plain but the cilantro and chipotle sauces that accompanied it were delicious. Service was attentive but not overbearing and well versed on the menu. I've loved Little Shack since my best friend introduced me to the original location years ago. I've read the other reviews and believe me, it's worth trying! The red salsa given to you at the beginning is spicy hot to most. However, I love the flavor so much I always ask for a second bowl for my tacos. Everything on the menu is good however, I recommend the Little shack shrimp tacos. Get two they're filling. Get an order of three and mix it up! Their food is pretty tastey, they have good portions at a good price. Last time I had 3 tacos and a drink for a little over 10 bucks. I travel to El Paso regularly and ate and this place three times the last time I was here. They have good happy hour prices ($2 dollar tacos). By far my favorite is their adobada tacos but I haven't tried something i didn't like. Beware most of their appetizers with chile are pretty spicey but oh so good too! My only complaint is their toritilla chips, they are pretty bland which is really disappointing for an El Paso joint (hence my 3 vs. 4 star rating). I stopped by the little shack to pick up some food to go. I ordered a tuna tostada and a fish taco. The fish taco was incredible, the tuna tostada as it turned out (when I got home I opened the to go boxes) did not include a tostada. The tuna was good, however the fried leeks that came with it were a bit overwhelming, too crispy and oily for my taste. Eventhough, it has nothing to do with sushi it rememinded me of a Mexican take on seafood inspired by sushi, especially the tuna tostada. It was excellent! I also had the shrimp quesadilla and shrimp tacos. Everything was great but was extremely pleased with the tuna tostada. I only have two complaints: 1. It's a little pricey for me, but that's understandable since I am a cheapskate lol. I guess I just have to reserve coming here for dates and special occasions haha!! 2. I wish they had WiFi.
