We even bumped into a Jefferson county ranger hiking the trail ( and this is not a rare exception). Parts of the trail were really icy and slippery ( bring traction for your shoes!)

You start in an open clearing. Then you can go right on Cherry Gulch (?) trail - which is shorter and more challenging to get to the top. We did see a mountain lion as we ended our hike later than we planned. This is a really nice park that is so close to the city. We definitely will return and I encourage you to go. I had to take the initiative and just drive here just to make sure that it was open and what we were able to do. I was delighted to find such a beautiful park right along the river bank. Have the ability to tube and have the little ones play. Children can play, and there is also a kid pool (a definite bonus). I was afraid that it would get packed and we end up not being able to stay. So I was left behind, and my husband went back to get the rest of the family. Since it is Monday, I figure it is not going to get too busy. But, I am not going to take a chance. This spot should be on the list of visiting places. Especially right now that Boulder creek is closed and many other outdoor activities.

Thinking all the events happened millions of years ago and during the Cretaceous Era when much of what we saw was under water. Since clouds, thunder and lightning were approaching, the staff warned us about the potential of being called back. Thankfully once we hit the trail the weather was good other than being cloudy. Be sure to explore the amphitheater, and if you can fit a concert into your plans, don't miss it. It's an unforgettable experience. Just be prepared for Colorado's unpredictable weather. We arrived for the concert early and waited in the parking lot for the gates to open. It was sweltering, and everyone was dressed for the heat in shorts and tank tops. Once the gates opened and we made it through security, we were only a few minutes from entering the amphitheater when the skies opened up and it started pouring. Fortunately, we had packed lightweight rain jackets, so we stayed comfortable. Many others weren't as prepared and ended up soaked. The lesson? Do your research, check the forecast, but don't depend on it. Bring layers and rain gear, even if the day starts out hot. At Red Rocks, you can experience blazing sunshine and a thunderstorm within the same hour. But, it's absolutely worth every minute you spend here!

Also, the visitor center has a few exhibits on the history of the Red Rocks Amphitheater (and celebrities and rock stars who have performed here). But Red Rocks Park has lovely hiking trails beyond the amphitheater. Just make sure that you bring a bottle of water, hat, and sunglasses if it's a sunny day. It's also worth picking up a local map so you can estimate which hike to take based on the amount of time you have available. The trails do not provide any shade, so a hat and sunscreen are essential. If you have a few hours to spare while visiting Denver, be sure to plan a day trip here if the weather is nice!

We want shared accountability." People have trails all over her property and no one showed up for "cleanup day"... "Take only memories, leave only footprints." Town survey and homeowner survey say same thing she owns the land on both sides. Law and order is not about feelings or belief's. Also this park has other access on park property but they fenced it off. Why try to illegally take someone's land that they paid for when you have another access point? Another big question is, Why didn't the town buy that piece of the property when it went up for sale instead of assuming the new owner would want the whole town leaving garbage on their land?
