Later that evening, I went back for a beer and after waiting patiently, in an unfriendly tone and facial expression, the bartender harshly asked "what do you want?" The customers at the bar tried to make it seem like that was funny and bantered the bartender. I ordered my beer and left, saying nothing, but wondering if it was the color of my skin that prompted this behavior from the bartender. And after reading reviews, I also wonder if it's the same bartender that did something similar to a Black woman. If so, clearly the pep talk from management did nothing or there is more than one bad apple in the bunch.

We came to SouthEnd at the recommendation of our taste master at the distillery next door. He said…read morethe food was the best in the immediate area, it was super hot and we didn't want to walk far!! He was right though, the food was wonderful! The Poke Nachos pretty much stole the show, they were amazing! Obviously it's not "fresh" tuna but it was definitely a good grade of tuna, buttery and sweet and the nachos were loaded with it! The drizzle was just enough so the wonton chips stayed nice and crispy all the way through. Could have used more jalapenos but that's my taste, not by any means a negative point! The rest of the food was delicious as well with the cheese curds coming in a super close second to the nachos! I'm guessing the ranch is house made, it was so rich and dare I say a bit spicey (not in a hot way)?! I always like to include service in my reviews, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. There is really no service! You order drinks at the bar then food at another counter, take a number they hand you, have a seat and they'll bring everything to you. The staff was mildly friendly, no complaints, just not really 5 star service. We will definitely return for the Poke Nachos!

Not too spicy at all. We had chicken and waffles and French toast. The French toast was hands down the best I have ever had! Chicken and waffles were delish. The chicken was cooked to perfection and we had a choice of syrup or hot honey. We tried both. The hot honey was great, not so hot that you couldn't enjoy it. The service was outstanding! They've got a great beer variety, offering a lot of different styles. And their food menu offers a selection of apps, sandwiches, burgers and salads. I ended up getting a chicken Philly with sweet potato fries, it was good, and the bun was stuffed full, but far too hot and too messy to try and eat with your hands. I ended up eating it with a fork and knife. The fries were cooked perfectly, just a slight crispiness to the outside and a soft filling inside. Pricing is a little bit on the high end, but the food quality is good. It's a nice spot, right in the heart of downtown, and they've good food and beer to offer.
