What a great discovery! Thanks Tom for the review... Our choice was a set menu of 20 quid per person, which included any broth and 10 food options (5 each). We chose the 3 broths pot, so we could try them all, but next time well go for only 2 of them: spicy and mushrooms . I really enjoyed the prawns, the special fish balls (fish outside, pork inside), the brown mushrooms, the pak choi and all the meat slices... not that much the flat noodles and the dried tofu. I was going to give it 5 stars but we were sitting next to the door and every time someone came in, the door stayed open, so we had to stand up around 20 times during our meal to close it... really annoying. As Tom mentioned, 2 hours meal and make sure you book ahead! Be aware of not coming here if youre going on a date after dinner or to any other social event, because the whole you (hair, clothes, etc) will stink after being sat around that steamy hot pot for 2 hours!!! A must try and, without a doubt, another name for my "unusual places" list....

For £20, it's not a bad place to go for a standard hot pot dinner with friends. That said, don't expected anything extraordinary!

Love the idea - plain and simple: pick your noodles/rice (egg noodles, udon, jasmine, whole grain…read morerice), then your choice of meat/vegetables (chicken, beef, pork, tofu, prawns, shiitake, baby corn...) plus a sauce (soy, sweet&sour, curry coconut, teriyaki, garlic...) and 2 minutes later it comes all together handy in a small to-go box. This walk-in store offers some seating but is clearly for the rushing-by passenger that strolls through the touristy Soho area between Piccadilly and Chinatown. So, why only 3 stars? Not because my egg noodles with prawns and hot sauce weren't hot (in terms of spiciness), it's more because of the value: for pricey £5.95 I'd expect not to wonder if I just became a fatty who's always hungry or if the portion just was that small. However, if you're checking out the table dance bar next door or the gay sex shop around the other corner and you're craving for a quick noodle snack, stop by.

With a pair of gas-fired woks in the window, you can stand and watch the chef prepare your meal right in front of you. You can't blame them for failure, because you pick the ingredients yourself. It's a little overwhelming at first, but if you take a breath, you'll do fine. First, choose from the noodles or rice (helpfully on display in glass jars on the shelf). Then pick your add-ins. They already include a carrot and cabbage mix, so you can add more to it if you wish. For today's visit, I just added chicken (which is precooked, but no biggie). Mushrooms are a nice idea, there are also pineapple chunks and all sorts of stuff. And finally, pick your sauce from their choices, which include Soy, Oyster, Sweet & Sour, Peanut, Teriyaki and more. It's tossed into the wok, tossed into a takeway box, and it's yours. (I suppose you can ask for less oil if you choose, or perhaps they'll add some more sauce. They also have a veggie special, if you're one of those herbivore vegan types.) You're welcome to dine in, though the seats are just wooden benches and the table is rather low. Or take it with you, just remember to grab a fork or some chopsticks! I enjoyed it, it hit the spot and I felt full afterwards. No complaints!

Everything was so delicious, and there were several other dishes I would have loved to have tried. I wish I had taken pictures of more dishes, but they all looked so good that we all just dug right in! Our server highly recommended the shrimp bean curd dish, and I am so glad she did. That's not something I would've ordered on my own, but my husband & I agreed it was our favorite dish of the night. My daughter's favorite (and my 2nd favorite) was the wagyu beef puff. I also loved everything in the steamed dim sum platter. The only thing that was mildly disappointing was the softshell crab. Softshell crab is usually one of my favorites, but it was just sort of bland. But overall the food was amazing. I just wanted to keep trying more & more things, even though I was stuffed! And the service was incredible -- really could not have been better. As a wine nerd, I have to say I don't love their wine service. You can't order a full bottle, only 500 ml or less, which means you're never presented with the bottle, so (in theory) you're never really sure you're actually getting what you ordered or getting a bottle that wasn't opened days ago. That being said, I have no doubt that the wines we were served were correct and relatively freshly opened, but I still would've appreciated proper bottle service. (On the other hand, being forced to buy only 500 ml at a time meant we could try two wines instead of sticking with just one bottle.) The ambiance was lovely -- spacious, sleek, classy, modern, with gigantic aquariums. This restaurant will be at the top of my list to revisit next time I'm in London!

Really enjoyed dinner and drinks here for my girlfriend and me. Definitely recommend it.read more

The place was quite busy, and interestingly, the same person taking orders was also cooking. It's a very small setup--definitely not meant for dining in. The vibe is more like "grab your food and head out." We ordered chicken egg fried rice and chicken chow mein. Watching the food being cooked right in front of us was fascinating--quick, high heat, and full of action. Once we got our order, we sat outside to eat. The first thing I noticed was that the food was quite oily. More disappointing, though, was that I couldn't find any chicken in my fried rice--even though I had paid extra for it. I went back, showed them, and asked if chicken had been added. They bluntly said "yes" and didn't bother to check further, which was frustrating That said, the food itself tasted good overall. It's just that the oiliness and the lack of proper service took away from the experience. I wouldn't say I won't visit again--it feels more like an off day--but I was definitely expecting better service.

It follows the pattern of their other restaurants, serving up Indian, oriental and Italian food, mainly buffet style but supplemented by a few live cooking stations such as the noodle stir fry, where the chefs will fry your chosen combination of meat, veg and noodles with a sauce of your choice. The restaurant itself is very bright and airy with high ceilings and big windows. It does tick many boxes but I would still only recommend it for big parties - the buffet makes sure everyone is well-fed, the split of the bill is easy to calculate at the end of the evening and there will be no fighting over what style of food to go for. Now, I can imagine what it's like when the restaurant is full on a weekend, and I can see why the place gets a bad rep here. But, I went of a Tuesday with a friend for a nice catch up meal. We were starving and needed a hole filling... and boy did Jimmy's do that. Cheesy Music, lots of families... but if you know what you're going in to... good clean fun all around.
