I've been taking my lawn equipment to these guys for over 20 years. Yes, you have to be a little patient, but they have always done a good job for me; even advising when repair over replacement was not in my best interest (and I've never brought anything from them). They DO need to improve their work assignment software to ensure everything gets put into the system so that the customer service people know the status of jobs. I was in this past weekend to pick up two items they were repairing. I received phone calls on each of them to let me know it was finished. But, when I got there, the customer service guy could only find one in the system. He had to look thru all of the paperwork to find the other bill. This took a lot of time and people were waiting. But, it WAS a Saturday, so it is very busy there. So, what should have taken a few minutes took over a half hour. The customer service person also started and ran each piece to ensure it ran well and was tuned. If you do not get a call back from this establishment within 2 weeks, I would suggest calling them - and have your ticket # with you. They probably get 100's of items in each week, so the ticket is important. My dad worked in a farm store that repaired all sort of lawn, farm and various equipment. He would swear at the lawn equipment - they were such a pain. So, I'm glad I have Little Engines to work on my stuff! read more

If you dont want to have a solution to my problem by arguing with what I simply have for a model number then you are indeed part of the problem. I took my snowblower to Little Engines because it wouldn't start. After 6 months of asking when it would be ready, they told me they couldn't find it and offered a smaller subpar used snowblower as a replacement. I told them I wanted MY snowblower back. After another three months of me calling them the found my snowblower. The charged me 170$ saying that they ordered a new carburetor. When winter came around, the snow blower still wouldn't work. My friend came over and took the carburetor apart and he discovered that they didn't replace it. They didn't even clean it. They charged me 170$ and did not make any attempt to fix it. read more

After reading many reviews and the BBB report, I started not to take my snow blower to Little Engines. However, this was the only place my warranty company had in my area. So reluctantly, I took it there expecting horrible service. I am happy to report that I was happily and pleasantly surprised. I must admit, the woman who works behind the counter is the best and easiest person to work with, the young who works there is not as good, but he definitely is trying. They went above and beyond the terms of my warranty in repairing my snow blower and they took the time to explained why it was broken and what I could do to keep this from happening again. I had improperly stored gas and as a result got water in the engine and it mucked up the carburetor and they had to do an oil change. They even were able to take the bad gas that I still had at home, since I did not know where to get rid of it. While this one review cannot counter-act all of the bad reviews Little Engines has received, I ask that you give them a chance to redeem themselves and keep in mind that people are more likely to write a complaint than to give kudos. read more

After having our snowblower for a week, I called to check on the status of the repair and was greeted on the phone by a woman who told me in a gruff tone that it would be done when when they could get to it and they would call us. When asked when that might be, she raised her voice and said we will call you when its done! No indication of how long they will have it. I took my riding mower in for servicing at the beginning of May. I was told it also needed a mower deck cable. Okay, fine. After that, it was excuse after excuse. They were super busy. Then they couldn't get the part--it was the vendor's fault, on and on, week after week. I would have moved it, but I had no way to haul it myself and had to hire someone. Finally I arranged to have it moved to another business. He arrived to move it and they said he couldn't, because it was all taken apart. They promised to have it put together by Monday. (This was Thursday). Monday they were closed. Tuesday, they promised to find the cable, even if they had to buy it from another business (why didn't they do that long before?) FINALLY, by the end of that next week, they finished it. It's now the end of August. Do NOT go here, if you value your time, your sanity or your equipment. read more

I took my mower in to be tuned-up in late December of 2018 (figured I probably wasn't going to need it for a while). Little Engines (LE) called in mid-January, said it was ready, and I went to pick it up. They had tuned it up, addressed some issues such as it wouldn't start without about 20 pulls on the cord, filled it with gas, and it was ready to go. I cut the grass on April 12, 2019 for the first time this year. As I got the mower out, and pulled the cord, it wouldn't start. Twelve pulls later it did start. I am thinking " I just paid for a tune-up, did it not get tuned up or what?". The mower ran like crap the whole time I mowed, sputtering, nearly choking out on not very tall grass. I took the mower back in April 15. I had fears LE would tell me it would enter the queue with all the other mowers, and it would be two to three weeks to get it back (this has happened before at LE). To my surprise, the young man behind the counter at LE listened to my description of the mower symptoms, tried to start it himself (he gave up after 5 attempts), and promptly wheeled it around to the back of the building to the service area. A service tech, an elderly gentleman, immediately started to take a look at it, and found the problem within a few minutes. Turned out it was a bent gasket letting in too much air to the engine. Anyway, problem solved. I stopped back in on Thursday/April 18, and the mower was ready to go. Ran it again today, and no problems; started on the first pull. Great customer service, specifically fixing a problem that wasn't caught the first time when it perhaps should have been. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. My husband has been their customer for many years. NOT ANYMORE !! Do not purchase from this please!!! He purchased a chainsaw and when he got home noticed that the serial numbers didnt match oThe receipt. He called and they told him to stop in because it would need to be fixed for warranty purposes. About 60 days later ,and after he had used the chainsaw he took it in. They told him he did not pay enough money for the saw and he owed them $200 additional money!!! They do not have prices in anything in the store. They refused to give him the saw back. He told them he'd already used it she said we will give you a refund or you owe us more $$$!!! He said that is what the employee had charged him and said he doesn't work here anymore. Not his fault. I think this is unethical and might be against the law. I took my lawn mower in 7 weeks ago and just today got it back. All I wanted was a tune-up, blades sharpened and a belt changed. They charged me almost $200. Over the past 7 weeks I would call every couple weeks asking when my lawn mower would be ready. They gave many excuses! First they fired everyone is what a woman told me hiring all new staff. Noone knew where my mower was. Then they said they were behind schedule. Then said they couldn't find parts. Rude on the phone and rude in person. When I said the price was too high he told me to go somewhere else. He said a lot of rude things..big bald guy. Very hateful. They are so unprofessional! Last year my mower would run for a few minutes and after stopping to take a break, would not not start until left to rest for about an hour. I took it to Little Engines in February and got charged $144 to fix it. When I went to cut the grass the first time it did the same thing. Took it back up the same day, the looked at it again, did a little work to it, and when I took it home, it did the same thing. I brought it later, got charged $88 more for more adjustments, and it still did the same thing. I talked to the owner, demanded my money back, and she said that they would fix it for free this time. They called back to say that it had bad compression and they couldn't fix it. I went back to pick it up, and take it somewhere to sell it for junk, The girl at the counter said they charged a bench fee, but after I told her what the owner said, she called the owner who said there would be no more charges. They have a sign on their wall not to blame them because they voted for a certain politician. I certainly lay blame on them for being incompetent for not being able to diagnose a lawn mower's problem. For $232, and 4 trips up there, I basically got nothing. I doubt that I would ever go back except maybe to get a blade sharpened. They might be able to do that! The place is quite junky, with broken glass in the door and derelict Chevy trucks all over the property. Based on my experience, I would not recommend it for lawn mower repairs. read more

I took my mower to little engines because it wouldn't start this season. They tuned it up after 4 weeks of waiting (they estimated 10 days) and it worked once. Now the second time I start it after getting it fixed and it won't start. I know that this is a busy time for them but they have an entire month to fix the problem and it looks like they didn't. Don't waste your time with these guys, they are clearly too busy to do the job right the first time. read more

Took my mower to a certain place in Gretna where I bought the Cub Cadet mower I currently own and was treated very poorly. Went to Little Engine and was treated how a real customer should be treated. They took the time (leas than 5 minutes) to diagnose that I needed a new belt and pulley. Thank you for treating me with the respect that a customer deserves. read more

My son has decided to start a lawn mowing business this summer so I decided that I should get him a mower of his own. I showed up to Little Engine near closing time and met the owner there. We started to discuss my son beginning in the business and that I wanted to find him a good quality mower to use in his little business. He talked to me about a few of the Toro Mowers that he had. I explained to him that part of my son's learning process in starting a business was going to be start-up costs. While I liked and appreciated the mowers the price was more then what my son could pay back in a month. After talking about it some more he said that he might have something in the back that would work. We walked into the used mower section and he had a very nice Lawnboy mower. He explained to me the benefits of the lighter mower with a great engine at a lower price. I took a look at the mower and agreed to a fair price with him. We added a Stihl Weed Whacker which I wanted and he rang me up. He was so impressed by my son's initiative that he even gave us oil for the mower mix. They were great with no pressure. My son has used the mower and weed whacker with no problems for the past couple months. I strongly recommend them for all of your needs. read more

I recently went to Little Engines and purchased brand new Stihl products. I was sent out the door with the power equipment and owners manuels only. This didn't seem right. So I called Stihl to find out what should come with brand new purchases, I was told that I was shorted multiple tools, saftey glasses, speciality tools, etc... When confronted in person, a Little engine said "oops sorry, I forgot to give you the scrench and safety glasses that come with the chainsaw". I was Also told "oops sorry, I forgot to give you the safety glasses, small stihl flat head screw driver, and phillips allen tool that come with the string trimmer also adding that people normaly never ask for those things" Of course they don't ask for those things because you didn't offer them. You have to ask yourself what does little engines gain from not offering the tools that come with Stihl products. Before making a purchase here call 1-800-GO-STIHL / 1-800-467-8445 and ask what kind of other problems have been reported about Little Engines STIHL purchases and service? My new customer/information was taken down and I was told by a little engine that since Little Engines is a Stihl dealer that they would register all 3 brand new products with Stihl for warranty coverage. This did not happen until I called Stihl 39 days after purchase on a hunch that it never happened. In the end, and to Stihl's disappointment Stihl registered my products (after confirming the purchase) over the phone for me (Stihl explained this is part of a Stihl dealers responsibility not Stihl) Stihl was also notified about this dealer not providing or offering until confronted the tools and equipment that come standard with a new product purchase. Little engines has been put on notice. Good luck anyone who does business with this place. They screwed over a brand new customer for brand new Stihl purchases in multiple ways. I was notifed by STIHL that this wasn't the first time they have had a problem with Little Engines "forgetting to give the customer all products and tools that come with a new STIHL purchase". Sounds like an on going theme. Stihl is by far a superior brand in this industry. However, continuing to allow places like Little Engines to be an Authorized dealer for their products raises severe quality control issues regarding sales of STIHL equipment. There are plenty of other Stihl dealers in town don't settle for doing business with these clowns. I would recommend ACE HARDWARE on 90th and Maple for any new STIHL purchases. My hope is that this will help someone else prior to purchasing or having serviced STIHL products from Little Engines. read more

I showed up about 15 minutes before closing with a flat tractor tire. They were very friendly and joked around with me while it was fixed. Their guy stayed late and I left about 15 minutes after closing. Didn't get one feeling that I was putting them out for staying late. Good service and they are very knowledgeable. I'm not considering going anywhere else for my engine / mower repairs. read more

I purchased the Timemaster on 6/23. I mowed my yard that night and again on the 29th. The mower had died each time I mowed. I took the mower back to return as I was not satisfied with it and the cost being 1000.00 dollars I feel like it should have performed better. When I returned the mower on 6/30 I was told I was mowing brush and that is why it didn't work. (I was mowing my yard in the city limits that has a standard fescue. I mow my yard every 5-7 days) I was then told that there is a "known" 25% restocking fee even though it was not on the receipt, website or in store. When you try to contact the owner he is never in and screens his calls so you are not able to talk with him about issues you have with his company. I will never return to Little Engines. I could have gone down the street to Home Depot to purchase the same mower but thought I would support a local company. read more

Dropped lawn mower off on morning of Saturday, March 25, for standard maintenance (blade sharpening, etc.) The mower had run well the previous summer. Was told that it would take 2 to 3 weeks due to busy season. After 3 weeks had passed, called shop and left claim ticket number on voice mail on Monday, April 17, at 10am. Did not receive any phone call from shop. Called again on Friday, April 21, at 3:45pm and left second message. On the morning of Saturday, April 22 (4 weeks after I dropped it off), I went into the shop and asked to check on the status of my claim ticket. A mechanic looked it up in the system, seemed confused about the nature of the service that it was awaiting, then confirmed that they had not worked on it yet and that it would be done by Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week (April 25, 26). After receiving no phone calls, returned to the shop on Saturday, April 29, and asked to check the status of my claim ticket again. Owner of shop responded dismissively "If it was done, they would have called you." He took the ticket and looked it up in the system, but seemed confused by what he saw and said that he needed to send me downstairs to the shop to look into it. I went downstairs, and a mechanic looked up my ticket and seemed similarly confused. He confirmed that they had my name in the system but no mower under it, and the claim ticket record itself was closed which meant that he no longer had access to any information about the record or it's history. We proceeded to walk around the shop attempting to find the mower. After more than 10 minutes of walking around the shop and two separate outdoor areas, on our second pass of the "junkyard" we found the mower. It had a sign taped to it that included the claim ticket number, and the description "Junk. Dipstick had no oil." He pulled the dipstick and showed me that there was only small amount of oil on the very end. When I asked if the mower still ran at all, he showed me that the cylinder heads weren't even attached, and instead were inside a plastic bag that had also been taped to the mower handle. I could also see that a vent cover on the side appeared to be partially detached as well. He pointed out that the sign indicating that the mower was junk was dated March 31, meaning it was sitting in the junk pile for: - 2 weeks before I called the first time - 2 weeks before I paid someone else to mow my lawn (when I could have just gone out and bought a new mower and saved money) - 3 weeks before the first time I went into the shop in person, where i was told they had not worked on it yet, and that it would still be a few more days - 4 weeks before the second time I went to the shop in person where the owner dismissively told me that if they had worked on it, they would have called me The mechanic said that he didn't want to put too much time into it for fear of driving up the cost of the total service, but agreed to put it back together and see if he could get it running. One hour later, he called me to let me know that he could not get the mower to start. At no point has anyone from the shop ever called me about anything, with the exception of the call from the mechanic to let me know that my mower was dead, approximately 5 weeks, 2 phone calls, and 2 in-person visits after I dropped off the mower for simple maintenance. Only after contacting the Better Business Bureau did they even reply to an email, and that was just to declare that I was an unreasonable liar. read more

I called them a few times and they said there next on the list or something like that. By August I bought new equipment and I did not want to pay for the work they did on my stuff. They would not make a deal with me so did not get the equipment back. We had the understanding it would be about a week and they would be done and ready to pick up. Took my lawn tractor for a tune-up and transmission slipping issues. Was told that they would call me when it was done and average repair time is about 12 business days. I called them at the 30 day mark and was told they were still working on it. At day 56 I called back and was told that they could not figure out the transmission slipping problem and that they were still working on it. I asked them to then put everything back together and that I would be picking it up. As a customer they were not happy with my decision. Upon picking it up everything seemed to work fine then 5 minutes into mowing my yard, white smoke starts billowing from the exhaust. I take the tractor back the next day and talk to a technician and he states that I overfilled the oil. WAIT, WHO? After a little reminder that they had this for close to 60 days they did change the oil again. Now it works OK. Having some problems with the engine sputtering again which was the original reason for taking it in to get repaired. Do not waste your time with L.E. It should not have taken 2 months to figure out that they could not fix it. Could you imagine a car in the shop that long? Take your equipment elsewhere, you will be happier. read more

Took my chainsaw to Little Engines to find out what was wrong. Chainsaw purchased at Christmas and still under warranty. It would turn over, but had no spark. Megan was rude and not helpful at all. She said we put straight gas in the saw and that is why it wouldn't work. This was not the case. We took the saw to another Stihl dealer, and he explained it was flooded and got the saw working again. We believe they didn't want to provide warranty service, so they lied about what the problem was. We will never purchase anything from them again, and will not recommend them to others. read more

The service I've experienced at this business has been mixed, at best. The counter help has been generally courteous and knowledgeable, but the phone help is much more hit-and-miss. Several times I've waited on hold for five minutes or more without ever being returned to. At other times I've found the individual I'm dealing with to be brusque and borderline rude. The final straw came today. After purchasing a new mower, and being told I would be called between 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for delivery on the following Monday, I took off a half-day of work to receive it. Calling at 11:30 a.m. on that Monday to check on the progress of the delivery, I was told that it was delayed until after 3:30 p.m. While I was irritated by this, there was nothing I could do about it, so I waited. Calling again at 4:45 p.m. (15 minutes before closing), I was informed that not only would I not receive my mower that day, but that the delivery person had been sick all day(!), and was asked if I could reschedule the delivery until Wednesday. Beyond the irritation of having to rearrange my work day once again, the only conclusion I can draw is that at least one of the personnel I spoke to is either incompetent, at best, or a liar, at worst. On the whole, I certainly can't, in good conscience, recommend this business to friends, family, or the general public. read more
