Communication prior to tech arrival was excellent. Thanks to the tracking feature provided, I wasn't stuck at the house the entire window. Additionally I received a robocall and text when the tech was on his way. Derrick was professional and very knowledgeable and checked the stove thoroughly. It was a suspected igniter failure. Derrick had replacement parts stocked in his vehicle and was able to quickly remove and replace the broken igniter. He then tested the oven to make sure repairs were complete. I should have found som else when they quoted 175 dollars for a service call. Had used them when they went under their previous name. They had been excellent at the repairs but they were also reasonably priced. This is definitely new management. I'm hoping the repair lasts because of the outrageous amount they charged on top of the 175 bullshit charge. over 300 dollars to replace the belt, about 45 minutes and a fifteen dollar part. We brought our robot vacuum in and it took several visits to get things working. On one visit they struggled to find our vacuum. The counter staff is a little quirky. I'm sure there were more factors that play than I can appreciate, but sometimes the customer only has a certain windows of opportunity to be at home, and that inflexibility On the part of hometown hero to schedule was frustrating. Hometown Hero is responsible for my fridge dying on at least three separate occasions. We initially reached out based on positive experiences with our washer/dryer, back before this company expanded into multiple cities and became HH. We wanted to repair a broken ice maker, which they did. However, our fridge later died due to an iced-over fan less than a year later. We'd never had any issues previously and the fridge was relatively new when we got it. A technician came out for that second visit and diagnosed the fan issue, though it took almost a full week for the part to be ordered, during which time we had no fridge. We weren't mad at this point, as we didn't yet know the extent of our issue. After the fan was replaced, a very short time later the same error message appeared and our fridge died yet again. A new technician came out. Based on some research we'd done for similar issues and what caused them, we asked if the recurring problem with the fan was potentially related to the ice-maker, which he initially dismissed. However, once he had completed the repair he confirmed that it was, in fact, the culprit. Turns out it had been slowly leaking water onto our fan, causing it to ice over. But he offered no restitution or assurance the issue wouldn't re-occur. To be clear: had we known the initial repair would have resulted in hundreds of dollars worth of repair costs, hundreds more in lost food, and hours of stress and aggravation we NEVER would have had Hometown Hero do the work. And guess what? Cut to this week, yet another error code and a broken fan, we assume the result of the same ice maker. And what has Hometown Hero offered us? Basically nothing, save for waiving the repair cost on their third visit (due to warranty) and offering to send a FOURTH technician to our house to fix our fridge today. Let me say it again for the folks in the back: YOU ARE NEVER TOUCHING ANOTHER APPLIANCE I OWN. I will say the people on the phones are lovely. I talked to two people today who told me they felt we were entitled to some form of compensation. But ultimately someone "higher up" whose quarterly bonus likely depends on paying out as little restitution as possible, offered only a repair. Something we have zero interest in for obvious reasons. You would be better served to give your money to someplace that's actually local and family owned. This place can kick rocks. Pro-tip: sort reviews by recent and enjoy the litany of complaints leveled against this company since they changed names/majority ownership. Edit, response to the response from the owner: Sir, why would accept an offer to have y'all come fix my fridge when your repair is the reason why it broke over and over and over and why I had to toss hundreds worth of food three times? This is not a real offer of restitution. But I guess you don't get to the boss man by looking out for customers, you get there by looking out for your bottom line. My Samsung front load washer was not draining completely on the rinse cycle causing it not to spin. This was not happening with every load, only intermittently. Hometown Hero told me it was the drain pump motor and they replaced it for $472. Two loads later the same thing was happening. They sent another service tech out and he told me it was the mother board going out. He advised me they could not repair it because the part is no longer available for my machine. After placing a review, I spoke with someone in management and he agreed to refund part of the $472.00 repair fee for the drain pump motor. Now I'm waiting for my refund. I called several times to check the status of this refund, was told it was mailed on 9/17/25, ten days later I still have not received it, 9/26/25 I call customer service again and was told it can take up to 30 days to receive the check in mail. I told the customer service rep it Does Not take 30 days for a letter to be received from one address in Omaha to another Omaha address, 3 days at most. Asked to speak with management, she refused! I definitely do not recommend this company. They could not follow through with the service or the agreement to refund my money. I guess they will be hearing from me for the next 30 days read more

Scheduling the service call was a nightmare, but once the tech was here, my experience was good. On Memorial Day, 5/27/2024 (a Monday), my washing machine appeared to be leaking water all over the laundry room floor. I submitted my service request via their website. Tue morning 5/28, I received a text saying that they would come on Tue 5/28 and would contact me 24 hours in advance to arrange a convenient service time - very confusing since 24 hours in advance would have been on Memorial Day and no one had yet contacted me. So I called for clarification. The customer service rep I spoke to, Rico, attributed the confusing text to the Memorial Day holiday (understandable) and helped me arrange to have my washing machine serviced on Wed 5/29 (since I work a part time job and am off on Wednesdays). I understood I would see a service tech on Wed 5/29 between 8-9 am. But on Wed 5/29, I checked the status of my service call and found that the customer service rep had not scheduled me for Wed 5/29, but rather for Thur 5/30 8-9 am. So I again called to get the situation straightened out. I was able to arrange for a service tech to come out between 3-6 pm Wed 5/29. Again, once the service tech was at my house, his work was excellent and we were very satisfied (thus the 2-star rating instead of the 1-star rating). read more

I called for an appointment on Wednesday, November 30 and they scheduled a service call for Monday, December 5, only 5 days later. They asked me to describe what was happening with my Fisher Paykel oven which I did. The oven is made in Germany so I was concerned about getting parts. I was told that the service tech would arrive between and 8 and 10 AM on the 5th and that he would call before he arrived. I received a call on Monday morning at 8 AM that said Kevin would be at my home in 25 minutes. He was. He was friendly and courteous plus removed his shoes at the door. He diagnosed the problem which was one of the 5 heating elements was not working. He had the correct replacement part in his truck. Within an hour my oven was fixed and working. I recently had Hometown Hero out to fix a freezer door alarm. They came out twice to fix it. Charged me a $65 copay for my 2-10 Warranty deductible. They charged my insurance company $305.19. They didn't fix the problem. When I called to tell them the alarm was still going off they said that happens and the other parts they needed were no longer available. So they charged $370.19 to fix it and put in parts it didn't need and did not fix the problem. When I called to ask for an explanation I told them we'd never pay a car repair man to fix our car if they put puts in and it didn't run. I am writing to advise future Hometown Hero customers to be aware of their fees and estimating processes before scheduling a service call. The service fee to diagnose a repair is $115 even if you don't agree to any work after they have diagnosed the issue. If you agree to the repair, the $115 is applied to the total repair estimate, which Hometown Hero bases on the Online Major Appliance Blue Book Job Rate Guide. My repair ended up being a clogged freezer drain which was causing ice build-up and I was quoted $250 + tax to make the repair. When agreeing to the repair I had no idea how much time the repair would take, and knowing I already had $115 skin in the game, it didn't leave me with much choice to proceed. The repair ended up taking less than one hour making my repair, labor only (no parts) $250 + an hour. Since Hometown Hero Omaha doesn't quote you an hourly rate in advance, relies on the "online appliance repair pricing guide," and has the $115 non-refundable diagnose fee, you may very well end up paying the equivalent of very high hourly rates. So please be advised in advance. Long story short, the technician and staff were very professional, knowledgeable and prompt, and they DID fix the issue. I write this review not to place blame on Hometown Hero, but rather help other potential future Hometown Hero Omaha customers understand upfront how things might turn out and what things may end up costing you in the long run. Someone from NHA called me the next day to set up an appointment for the following day (this was not an emergency repair). On 3/7/24 I had a repair man out from 'Hometown Hero' come out to look at our washing machine that was making a loud noise on the final spin cycle. He fumbled around for about 20 mins., ran a short cycle then told me that a major part was going out, charged me $139 & said it would cost me approx. $1400 to fix it. What?! We could but 2 new dryers for that price! After he left I discovered that their were several socks that that were lodged in the outer rubber ring that offset the spin & was the cause of the noise. The repairman couldn't figure that out?! Total incompetence! This company's previous name was NE Home Appliance & have now changed it. They are DEFINITELY NOT 'Hometown Heros". I was requesting the service fee refunded since they knew they were unable to get parts for the fridge before they sent the tech out. I gave the tech my make and model of fridge before he arrived. He was here 5 minutes and told me he can't get parts to fix my fridge and that he couldn't do anything. But was quick to collect his service fee though. After the tech left I had another guy who came out and fixed the same refrigerator under an hour.... Hometown hero didn't actually plan on fixing anything before they took my call. It was very easy to schedule an appointment online to have my Whirlpool brand dishwasher checked out. The technician Jake was prompt and very professional. After a minor fix, he was on his way to the next call. The service call was about $90 but there's a 30-day warranty in case anything should go wrong with it again in the next month.
