Usually Timothy's has good cod dinners but…read morethat night I thought I would try the French dip sandwich, which the menu says is made with shaved prime rib. My daughter-in-law ordered the same. Worst sandwich I ever had. The prime rib had a lot of fat and grizzle - so much that neither of us could even chew half of the meat. When I complained to the waitress, she didn't offer any thoughts on resolving the issue (like an alternate dinner, not charging me, etc.). She didn't even send a manager or owner over to talk to me. Very disappointed. Although I do like their cod dinner on Friday, it may be quite a while before I return to Timothy's. And although I used to recommend Timothy's to visitors and friends, I don't think I can feel good about making any more recommendations in the future.

Barrel Back is one of those restaurants I have really mixed feelings about because the food itself…read morecan be amazing. Their brisket is genuinely unmatched. We've had brisket at plenty of other places and nothing compares to theirs and it is absolutely the reason we continue coming back. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience doesn't consistently live up to the food. Wait times for food are often very long, and across multiple visits we've found the servers generally aren't very attentive. The other major issue is the price. It's very expensive for the amount of food you actually get, and especially in the current economy, that's hard to overlook. When you're paying that much for a meal, I think it's reasonable to expect not only excellent food, but excellent service and an overall experience that feels worth the price. That's ultimately why I'm torn. The brisket is five-star brisket, but the overall value and service aren't five-star. We'll probably still find ourselves coming back because apparently that brisket has a hold on us, but better service, shorter waits, and pricing that feels more proportional to the portions would make a huge difference.

The restaurant was very relaxing and a nice of change of scenery from the business of Mackinac island. The red peas soup was very flavorful and hearty. It was perfect for the cold day we had. The smoked fish dip was delicious and we ate the entire bowl which was huge. The jerk chicken I recommend getting the sauce on the side. The sauce is delicious but very spicy. It works better if you dip the chicken in it instead of having it lathered all over the chicken. The rum flight was tasty but we had to drink slowly as it was very strong. Overall highly recommend

WORST THING EVER...Short of food poison it couldn't get any worse. I went to get dinner at a dinner…read morehour and ordered a 12-piece family meal with 2 potatoes and mac and cheese. Upon ordering everything was fine. I got up to the window they took my card then told me it would be a 35-minute wait (this has become a common thing at this time frame due to POOR MANAGEMENT OF TIME AND KNOWING PREPRATION FOR BUSINESS). I was asked to wait in my car outside for the 35 minutes at 85 degree outside (I do not have air conditioning in my car). I watched as two to three people that ordered after me left with their food. After watching another big order which had only been there for about 5-10 minutes if that left I went inside to find the status of my order. By this time I was drenched in sweat, annoyed and was told it was cooking time for the chicken because they didn't have any original prepared at the time of order. Cooking the chicken at a KFC should only take about 20 minutes tops according to everything that I have found including a chef's and quick service restaurant worker. The works were very RUDE and full of cook time excuses. Upon getting home I found that the order while it had 12 pieces did not have the correct assortment in the bucket. This has been an ongoing issue at this location and upon looking at the reviews it rate a 1.5 on yelp. I'm very surprised you are still open because this is a joke and I could have sat down in a real restaurant and ate for the same amount of time it took for fast food here.
