Full disclosure: we used to go to Mellow Mushroom in Birmingham fairly often and liked it, so we walked in with some expectations. We were seated right away. The menu had changed from 15 or so years ago, so it took a few minutes to decide. We ordered pretzel bits as an appetizer--they were good and met expectations. We also ordered a medium Mighty Meaty thin-crust pizza and substituted Italian sausage for the chicken. My wife ordered a salad and didn't comment on it one way or the other, so I assume it was fine. The pizza was terrible. It was supposed to be thin crust, but it was doughy and not cooked through. The chicken was so dry we had to pick it off. Between the two of us we ate two slices and picked the toppings off a third. We took the rest home hoping the kids would eat it after we finished cooking it. They wouldn't, and we threw it in the trash. The waitress was nice, but when we mentioned the undercooked pizza she said it happens and that cooking it again would burn it. On a thin pizza, that's a problem. Overall we wasted $25 on a pizza that wasn't edible, and it took too long to get our food. I doubt we'll go back.
