Getting in was easy they just checked our ids and scanned our tickets. Short walk from the entrance to the actual music area. There is a floor standing room area you can watch the music, as well as two elevated seating areas. The seats were pews and very roomy. It was nice to be able to sit and enjoy the show free from the crowds. The sound quality was mostly good but at times I found it was very loud and hard to hear what the musician was saying. Didn't get any drinks or use the bathroom, so I can't comment on this aspect. Overall, I thought this was a great venue.

My estimate is a capacity of 400-500 chairs, in rows of 14 the floor, plus the balcony. I was there to see Judy Collins, who still has a wonderful voice. (She is 87). A friend asked why she was not performing in the Mary Seton room at Kleinhans Music Hall. I think the acoustics are better here, as are the slightly padded chairs. It is certainly more intimate.

We were greeted by a wonderful woman at the front desk, and she suggested we check out the village before walking through the museum. She gave us a map of the grounds, and off we went! We followed the loop, exploring each of the gorgeous historic buildings one by one! Some parts of each building will be blocked off from foot traffic, but you can still get a really good look at the furnishings and how that particular home looked back in the day! Highlights from the village: - the schoolhouse, with dozens of chalkboards and desks for interacting with! I wrote a Millard Fillmore quote on one of them. - barbershop, where there was a photography booth complete with clothes to dress up in! - the outdoor games, like hoop & stick, croquet, and horseshoes! - the farm animals, of course. We coaxed out the sheep and got to see the ox up close! In the museum part of the campus, you'll find a TON of interactive exhibits which are...admittedly, mostly for younger kids, but I'll be darned if I didn't play around with each and every one of them! I really enjoyed the museum's exhibits because they helped to combine memorable parts of U.S. history with the Buffalo area. The Prohibition exhibit was beautiful and informative. They do festivals here a couple of times of year, but I don't think that should be the only reason you visit the BNHV! There is a lot of space to have tables set whichever way you want and the tables and chairs are nice looking and comfortable. There are a wide variety of menu options to choose from including some things that aren't on a typical banquet menu (like chicken souvkaki). Service from both the day of servers and the banquet coordinators is fantastic. Very communicative and friendly. One down side is that while there are signs by the various rooms for what the event is, I wish there was someone directing people when you first walk in, especially if there are several events going on. But overall, a great place to host or attend events.
