Cheese Bread!…read more Sizzler has been my favourite restaurant since I was a little tyke. I love the atmosphere, the food, the cheese bread: frankly I love Sizzler in its entirety. Perhaps this bias colours my review but I honestly and sincerely believe that Sizzler is a restaurant that has something for everyone. Firstly: cheese bread! Am I crazy or is this super soft, fresh, cheesy and utterly divine bread actually the world's most delicious food? It's worth visiting just to get some of this wonderful yumminess in your mouth. Ask for as many extra servings as you like and enjoy! One of the other great things about Sizzler is that for a few dollars more than the salad bar you can get a full pub like meal as well. I opted for the Malibu beef burger and hubby had the Fishermans platter. Both were decent fare, made great with the fresh salads and pastas of the accompanying buffet. There is also a nacho/taco bar, potato skins, soups, fresh fruit and desserts to choose from to add to your stomachs delight. Food is fresh, cheap and cheerful and sure to satisfy fussy eaters (though perhaps not gourmets). If anything the decor has become more fresh and inviting than previous incarnations and the staff, as always, are friendly, swift and fantastic. The environment is very family friendly: upbeat and jovial with the wonderful background hum only found within the comfortable confines of such an unpretentious, homely place. Prices average around $35 for adults, including an attached meal and unlimited soft drinks, teas and coffees. Kids vary depending on their age. Sizzler is a true family restaurant: boasting something for all in a casual, laid back setting that is comfortable and welcoming. Come for the cheese bread, stay for a laugh, good conversation and fun times for all.

I just came back from a lovely first family getaway (it's been two years in the making!). Excuse…read morethe long review. We decided to visit Peppers Salt Resort and Spa at Kingscliff after hearing rave reviews and they weren't wrong! It was a great place to visit with the kids - they had a ball. I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old. It is probably aimed at families visiting with older kids (e.g. 7+) but we still loved it. They have two fantastic pool areas - a Tropical pool, which gets sun most of the day and has a spa area and the vast Lagoon pool, which includes sand, plunge pools and also a spa. It features deck chairs in the sand area, where cocktails can be ordered from the bar and brought over to you. We purchased a package with two rooms and a bath spa. It overlooked the Tropical pool. I believe all rooms feature at least a pool view. When we opened our front door, it had a foyer area with another two main doors behind it, so it could be split...if you were visiting with friends. One side of the resort is a Quiet area, so if you were looking at visiting for a bit of peace and quiet, you can do that too. Our package also included a buffet breakfast daily. What I really enjoyed about this, was the fact that everything was freshly made...including the eggs - no powered egg here. They also offer in-house movies for free, which means you can watch most of the recent rentals for free! This was great for when the kids were in bed. We had to visit the GP for a sudden rash that developed with my daughter while there (turned out to be a sunscreen allergy) and the reception staff were great. They rang around and found someone who could fit us in and then told us where to go. Everything is in walking distance for your convenience. This includes, the beach (not flagged though), a pub which has a great playground for kids, restaurants, a gelato shop, hair salon, bottle shop and IGA for your shopping needs. In comparison to the previous reviewer, we actually found the restaurants relatively priced but the prices of ordering room service or visiting in-house spa, quite pricey. We were also disappointed by the dessert menu available, so we didn't order in. Negatives to our stay: - Bad internal communication. I had run up weeks in advance to be assured they had a cot for our room. I was reassured there was one but when I arrived, they had the notes but they hadn't been passed onto room keeping, so they had to bring up a cot. Similarly, they one of us listed for breakfast, instead of 4. - Really poor signage. The signage in the place was really disappointing. I'd expect more. You had to navigate for yourself out of the lift, just to find the reception. Similarly, you had to guess where the Tropical pool was located and if the Season restaurant was where you were meant to have breakfast. I didn't even try to find the gym! - Noise can carry and we unfortunately had a group who wanted to party above our place one night while our young kids were trying to sleep. I know this can't really be helped by the resort. - We had swimmers fall over the balcony, which of course was once again our fault but normally you could go get them yourself from where they fell. In this case, we had to ring reception and trouble the guests that were staying below just to retrieve them because they fell into their 'private' but not so private plunge pool area. Positives: - Facilities, including individual room facilities - Capsule coffee machine in room (but only first two capsules were free) - Didn't have to bring own cot, had highchairs - Walking distance to everything - In-room movies - The staff really do go out of their way for you

I was able to enjoy dinner here recently thanks to their promotional rate during restaurant month…read more The dinner buffet was half price making it more than worth the experience. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the QT Hotel. There is street parking as well as valet parking available. Upon entry to the restaurant I was escorted to my table while passing by the different counters of food options. The host explained how everything worked and pointed out the different areas of the buffet. It is all neatly presented and vary high quality ingredients. After showing me the table I went to get started. The very left side of the buffet has certain meat and seafood options. They have beef stew, paella, and a few more options. You can also ask the chef in this section to make you a steak any temperature you like and they will deliver it to your table. Next to the meats you have the pizza counter. At the time they had a cheese option and a potato option. I tried the cheese pizza and it was incredible! The next section has salads and sides. You can choose from mac n cheese to potato salad and lots of other choices. The last section has asian dishes such as dim sum, chicken masala and lots more. The dessert counter is behind the dinner food and has tons of selections. You can get all sorts of mini cakes, pastries, ice cream, chocolates and more. Definitely save some room for dessert! Everything is so fresh and cooked perfectly with the right sauces! The beautiful presentation, delicious food and fantastic service are why I gave this place 5 stars.

With the 2 young kids in tow, we thought 'hey, this place can't be that bad' when we walked past…read more We sat down, the table seemed nice, so did the wait staff. It's really important to note here that I don't give 1 stars out lightly. We ordered: Salt and Pepper Tofu Sesame Supreme Hot Pot Shan Tung Crispy Chicken Roti Canai with curry Also important to note that I am of Malaysian decent, and have eaten at numerous chinese restaurants throughout my lifetime. We were slightly excited when the Roti Canai came as it tasted nice, was authentic enough. The kids liked it. When the Tofu came out we were slightly enthused... it was nice, but sprinkled with red chillies all over... which happens sometimes. We waited a little longer and the Chicken and Hot Pot came out as well thoroughly sprinkled with red chillies (these were hot ones) to which I said to the waitress... wait a minute, are all three of these dishes we ordered spicy? She answered yes. I believe that when you are ordering food with kids 2 and 4 and the waitress knows the food is hot she should really advise you that they are, I also am a firm believer you should have the level of spiciness on the menu to warn customers who can't eat it. So I told her that the kids can't eat any of what we ordered which was our mistake. The manager kindly took one chicken dish back and offered to cook us a chicken and cashew non spicy dish in its place which was really nice of her. She also informed me the hot pot had sesame chilli hot pot on it and even brought the menu back... to which I pointed out to her, it actually says sesame supreme.... to which she then said oh sorry. On we went, my husband tried the hot pot and after eating a mussel found a 1.5cm thornlike object in his mouth a few seconds later. It was obviously from the seafood broth they had used to cook the hot pot in they didn't strain properly... but when we told the manager, she told us it was from the Szechuan Peppers they use to create the sesame chilli effect. She was so determined to explain to us this that she even bought the packet of peppers out from the kitchen to show us... (ed: the stems of the little peppers looked nothing like the sharp thorn we had showed her let alone weren't even in the vicinity of the same size). This was quite insulting, but we let her explain, we ate the chicken and cashews and paid for the tofu, chicken and roti canai ($49) and left. I can understand these things happen in restaurants, and we were happy to pay for what we had ordered, but when instead of 'i'm really sorry here is what we will do' we get a 'well these things happen sometimes, we don't know, this is why they happen, let me educate you' instead... I have issues with that. Will not ever be back here, not my cup of tea.
