I wanna start this by saying, these cakes are delicious. I have ordered from here SEVERAL times. I ordered a cake for my sons's birthday. I originally wanted a cake that resembled a soccer field.. Although I am no cake decorator, I thought it was a fairly simple request, as a soccer field as just a couple boxes and a circle in the middle, and I just wanted it green. I was told it would be "too expensive" and I should "buy and edible template from Albertsons to put on top." I was VERY off put by this. I was told it would be "too expensive" but they never told me a price. And I thought the idea of an edible template was extremely tacky. I opted for Happy Birthday in the middle, but hoped the frosting would still be green. I was planning on buying plastic soccer players and goals to be put on afterward. Notes were took on my cake, but I felt extremely rushed and wanted to make sure details were correct, so I emailed the business the next day. (Email attached) I was called a few hours later by Lisa herself who said "yes I remember you, remember I said to buy the edible template for the top" I explained that I did not like that idea, and I just wanted it to be green with the happy birthday in the middle and I would add my little things at the end. Attached is the cake I picked up. I was extremely disappointed, and when I called I was told that in order for it to be green I would have had to pay extra. I clarified "it would have cost extra to add a couple drops of food coloring to the frosting?" "Yes" I wish it would have been make crystal clear over the phone that I was getting a white cake. I wanted a soccer field. I thought I made that clear on the phone and the email. The cake was served 2 days later, and it was delicious. But I am not sure the next time I'll be back. I would recommend getting the cakes without any special requests. It seems to be too much trouble for them. But these cakes are delicious. read more

Lisa's rum cake and the entire stuff are out of this world. Amazing! I called upon Lisa 's for a specialty event. I was throwing for a commercial company whereby I was putting on a carnival for 100 employees for employee appreciation event. Lisa provided all the specialty cakes for the cakewalk absolutely amazing. The cakewalk was a huge hit at the event! I can't think Lisa and her staff enough! Was looking for something a little different for my wife's 50th birthday party. I took a risk and ordered a cake online from Lisa's Rum Cake. I had never tasted her products but they sounded excellent. My wife is a big peanut butter cup fan, so I ordered the Peanut Butter and Chocolate cake. That cake was so freeeak'n goood!!! The cake was the talk of the party with everyone raving how great is was. My wife still claims it is the best cake she ever had. Excellent service and a fantastic product. While I do not review for yelp anymore this cake and the service was so exceptional that I must review it. My spouse and I decided to get married and I only gave Lisa 1 weeks notice that I would need a two tier wedding cake. Instead of saying no, as most places will on such short notice, they said yes and we sat down with a book of gorgeous cakes that they have made for others. After going through page after page of pictures we finally settled on a pretty white cake with some touches of purple on it. It wasn't hard to select the type of cake, as Lisa is the daughter of Cathy, the inventor of the original Cathy's Rum Cake. Ours also included a layer of fresh strawberries in it. Having purchased a number of cakes from Cathy's, we were sure that this would be a wonderful cake and we were not disappointed. Lisa's even arranged to have the cake delivered at the appointed time, and once again there was no disappointment. Before leaving we took home a number of "cuts" which are pieces of different cakes. One of them didn't even make it home it was so good. Everyone at the wedding raved about the cake, and even though it was a small wedding, almost no cake was left, and leftovers were gone in a day. If you need a terrific cake, even something not a wedding cake, I suggest you run - not walk, to Lisa's. You will never be disappointed. read more

The best bakery in the Valley! This is our go-to place for special cakes. We've ordered their cakes for birthdays, Valentines, a baby shower and my husband's upcoming promotion ceremony! This is my first time ordering a cake from this place and we absolutely loved it! We ordered a 10" round cake for a baby shower that had 28 people. We had enough slices for everyone to have a piece but we should have ordered more! It was so good! We got the lemon flavored rum cake and it was so light and delicious and perfectly moist. The design and colors we picked went perfectly with the theme. I would definitely order from them again. read more

My family has been coming here for years, their cake is always exactly as ordered down to the writing/ribbon colors. I ordered a birthday cake for my mom last week and it was delicious as always!! If you haven't had this style of cake before, the icing is whipped cream-like and light, less sweet than traditional buttercream, and you typically have to give the cake some time to thaw before serving but they always make sure to explain the timing of serving to you carefully. read more

wonderful little shop, will return. would love to stop by and pick up some of their cuts sometime. i'll definitely be watching the menu to see when i'd like to come and try to grab some. whoever helped me pick up the cake i ordered was very kind. i ordered online well in advance and had no issues. came during my allotted pick up & it was a breeze, in & out in under 5 minutes. Their cake is perfect after a huge meal, it's still flavored well but not over the top. It's sweet without being too sweet. The batter was clearly mixed perfect because the consistency was impeccable and dough itself wasn't gritty and chunky. It was just my husband and I enjoying this and we did not anticipate finishing it, but oh boy did we. We've got a few more birthdays coming up and will absolutely be ordering here. Thanks! read more

Lisa helped make our wedding day so special!! During covid, we exchanged our 90 person wedding for a smaller ceremony and backyard reception in Sedona! She is so sweet, she even talked me through a bridezilla meltdown on the phone just after making our decision! We were so lucky and blessed to be able to have such a beautiful day and our cake was the cherry on top!They made sure we knew how to transport it to Sedona so it would not melt in the car and it was so easy! My oh my that cake tasted sooo good! Everyone was asking where it was from and my new father in law even said that it was the best cake he has ever tasted! Delicious as I remember! Ever since I was a kid (I'm 30 now), my mom would ALWAYS get a Cathy's rum cake for special occasions. Every birthday i'd look forward to a PB & Chocolate cake! We were so sad to hear when Cathy's closed down after several years. THEN the heavens must have been listening and they blessed us with Lisa's Rum cake! We were so excited to see that the legacy had lived on and I just knew that's what I needed for my wedding day. We decided to go with an small Amaretto 10in. cake for us to cut and then bought cake cuts for easy serving for the guests to enjoy. Lots of compliments on this delicious cake! Incredibly rude! We got delayed on our pick up time today and when we arrived the person was SCREAMING at us, I mean SCREAMING. I don't care what the situation is, THAT kind of service will NEVER be tolerated. I have been a fan of Lisa's Rum Cake for a very long time and have tried a few different flavors including the rumfetti, original rum cake, and a fresh fruit customized cake I requested about 6 years ago. They were all delicious! The last time I came the staff working there were very polite and helped me carry the cake to my car since it was large and heavy. They are always beautifully decorated and fresh tasting. Also, you can tell they use quality rum. They are pricey and it will likely cost you over $75 for a decent sized cake, but it is worth it for the right occasion. read more

Can i start off my review by making some kind of noise like you hear on the food network channel? This place is my go to for a sweet treat for their cake cuts. I've learned that it's totally worth getting out of work early just to make it to the main location instead of going to other businesses for the cake cuts or tea cuts. In order my top 5 are the circo , butter beer, blueberry limoncello, unicorn, tuxedo cake cuts. They always have amazing specials totally worth every penny. Some of my friends complain about the price but honestly in my opinion you get what you pay for! I normally am not a huge cake freak and I'm a little upset i didn't use them for my wedding cake instead. The whip cream and custard are everything. I absolutely love that there is a rotation of specials but it's also a love hate relationship. Like my favorite cake was a special and they do not have it out very often so it's rare if you see it out. I feel like I'm their often enough and paying attention to social media to see what's available 99.9% of the time. I really hope in the future they come out with loyalty cards because i love them so much! I cannot rave anymore about how much i love this place not only for the amazing cakes but Lisa and her daughter Madi are beyond pleasant to make your trip worth going. You will not be disappointed! Absolutely fantastic! My mom, sister and I went to try cake samples for my sister's upcoming wedding in October and we were not disappointed! We sampled the red velvet, strawberry rum, limoncello, and the chocolate tuxedo. Hands down our favorite was their best selling strawberry rum! The red velvet was delicious, and the chocolate tuxedo was like eating brownies. If you're thinking about having a cake for a celebration or wedding you have to get it from Lisa's!! Plus the staff is incredible - mom and daughter/family run! It's impossible to beat this place! read more

Wow, is the first words out of or mouths after taking our first bites of the limoncello cake that I ordered for my wife's birthday. This was our first and definitely not our last cake from here. We had my baby shower at Culinary Dropout in Phoenix and my mom had ordered a cake in lieu of the cookies the restaurant offered to provide. It was the most amazing cake we had all eaten! The top was red velvet and gone within minutes. The bottom I believe was some kind banana strawberry. Not to mention the cake was beautiful looking and actual chocolate was used versus fondant. read more

Established in 2007.

The idea for Lisa's Rum Cake, LLC began in August 2001 when the founder of Cathy's Rum Cake & (Catering) in Chandler, Arizona., decided to sell her daughter and son-in-law the rights to make and sell "Cathy's Rum Cakes®." Their plan was to build the Cathy's Rum Cake brand by offering these unique cakes to people outside the Phoenix area. Cathy's Rum Cake Worldwide was incorporated in the State of Arizona in October 2007. Factory construction was completed in May 2009 and Operations began officially on July 1. By October 2010 the founders realized that a name change was necessary to eliminate Customer confusion. In October 2010 Lisa's Rum Cake, LLC was formed. President and co-owner (along with wife Lisa) of Lisa's Rum Cake, LLC. Kelly received a BSME from Arizona State University in 1980. After a 26 year engineering career, Kelly left his engineering management job to pursue the specialty cake business he had licensed from his mother-in-law. Kelly is a fourth generation native of Arizona; his grandfather moved to Arizona the late 1880's. His grandfather homesteaded Power Ranch in 1920 and grew cotton, potatoes, wheat, apricots, peaches, and plums until it ceased operations in 1999.

We decided to just take one and share it and decided on the Frozen Hot Chocolate, which is made with Blue Bell chocolate ice cream, hot cocoa mix, chocolate sauce, marshmallow fluff and a "kosher" marshmallow. I'm just not a big sugar fiend so I found the shake to be extremely sweet and gooey...wife loved it! I didn't try the marshmallow but she said it was good and she could tell it was homemade. We decided we would try the store in Gilbert at some point this summer to see what other goodies they offer. Overall, a good treat and thank you for the free goodie! I did exactly that, same day. That was 5/27. It is now 6/9 and I have not heard a word back. No email, no call, no text. The original incident was 5/10, so we are at 30 days now. This wasn't a stray hair - that's relatively benign and sometimes happens in food prep, not great but harmless. This was a different category of foreign body in food: fragments that looked like they came off equipment, which means whatever produced them is presumably still in use, still capable of doing it again to the next person. This is what made the unresponsiveness frustrating. It's not about my daughter's one açaí bowl, it's about whether the thing that caused it ever got looked at. A simple "we looked at it, can't determine yet what happened, but we'll update you" would have been fine, but I got boilerplate "you deserve better" corporate slop. I didn't want my ego stroked, I wanted them to look into something serious. They are great at moving fast in public: their Yelp! reply was up within a day, right under my review, where everyone can see it. But the private follow-up, the part nobody else is watching, has now gone three weeks radio silent, after they were the ones who asked for my number, but never used it. Fast when it's visible, and crickets when it's not, tells you where the attention really goes. If you're reading this and trying to decide, take a little time with the reviews here, the detailed ones and the thin ones, the recent and the older, and decide for yourselves if there is a pattern or not. I'm done with them, they lost my trust. For the record, their açaí bowls when they don't contain bits of industrial machinery are pretty good, but we'll go to Swami's when we are in Oceanside and will try to find something else in the valley.

East coast bakery lovers, this is for you. A family owned/operated bakery specializing in Italian desserts. And they only use whipped cream frosting! They are known for their cakes...the Strawberry French Vanilla is my personal favorite as it's been all of my birthday cakes...but their cake cuts and new Sicilian Cannoli are to die for!!! Cake cuts are their alternate to cupcake. Single-serve slices big enough to share or indulge in yourself. The bakery always has a large selection of flavors (10-12 I think). The new Italian Rainbow Cake is inspired by Italian Rainbow cookies, filled with cannoli cream and amaretto custard. The ganache drip on top is equally appealing to the tastebuds as it is the eyes. Don't forget Unicorn Cake! My friends love how colorful and tasty those are. I love giving cuts for gifts. Let me say, you have never had a cannoli like Lisa's...they put their Italian custard inside with their Sicilian ricotta Cannoli cream. As if that's not decadent enough, they bake their own shells out of Italian Pizzelle cookies!! I hate the typical fried Cannoli shells, so if you do too then you'll LOVE these. Get a loaded Cannoli if you want whipped cream, ganache, and a cherry on top ;) Give Lisa's a try if you're sick of the super sweet, out-of-a-can cakes and treats!
