I have been here several times, each time with a different barber. I came out the first few times with mixed feelings. I didn't expect anything amazing, but they got the job done. However, my latest haircut was absolutely atrocious. It was cut by the only male barber at the store. I walked in, giving the same instructions I'd give each time: trim the sides and back and leave the top long but thinner. Surely, he did what I asked, but with absolutely no sense of "balance" or "shape". I ended up with my head looking like a rectangular box - the sides were trimmed vertically flat, and the top nearly untouched. I asked him to make it look less boxy, but the more that he cut, the worst it looked. I gave up, paid my $8 and walked out of the store without a word. Take my advice and never get your hair cut by the guy, unless you want your head to look like a box. He has no sense of the shape and form of your hair and I seriously don't understand how he can be employed to cut people's hair. read more

I got my highlights done here, and Lisa was amazing! It was my first time getting highlights and Lisa told me about the repetitive highlighting process all the Instagram-able hair models go through and gave me the helpful advice not to kill my hair with a bunch of bleach (I wanted to go from dark Asian hair to pretty light blonde). I paid $65 plus tip for my highlights which faded a little like she said they would to make a natural look, but I have gotten many compliments on her work and I am very satisfied. The salon does say they charge more for working with longer hair but I have a little longer than shoulder length hair so take that into consideration as a price guide. She gave me tips on hair care and when I should get my hair re-highlighted to go lighter which I thought was really helpful. One thing I would recommend if you plan on getting highlights is making sure you have something to do on your phone or bring a book because you'll be waiting for half an hour or so and it's awkward sitting there staring around... The only reason I didn't give five stars was because I don't typically come for highlights so I didn't get to the color I wanted the first time, but in the long run I was probably a lot nicer to my hair so that's a definite plus. read more

Unhygienic and bad place for haircut. They used a bad cloth to drap and when I asked them to change, they said that they can't use fresh and new for everyone. The hair cut they did was horrible. I asked for 1-2 inches trimming and she trimmed my hair by 4-5 inches. Bad experience and not recommend this place for hair cut. read more

I've been going here since '97. These were the folks that I let cut up my 10+ year hairstyle (rice bowl, parted down the middle). I haven't stopped going to them ever since...well I did stop for a few months when I tried to grow my hair out...but that's another story. Julie and Anne are the best. I was worried for a bit when the price went up from $7 to $8 that it would keep on rising, but luckily it hasn't since. This is not another run of the mill asian barber, these ladies know what they're doing. I have been visiting this Sunnyvale gem for at least 10 years. All the girls that work here are friendly and will treat you like family if they start to recognize you as a regular. I have had my hair cut by everyone here and they all do a superb job. Julie and Rose are MY GIRLS though! They know exactly how I like my ears lowered and it's always fun chatting it up with them. Oh, and 8 bucks for a haircut?! Are you kidding me? That is such a deal that I, myself go once a week. If I don't go at least once a week I start looking like teen-wolf. Not a pretty sight. Walked in, waited for my turn, and was eventually beckoned to sit down in the barber's chair. The place is staffed by a bunch of southeast Asian women, mostly Vietnamese. I have fine, straight black hair, so this boded well for me. The barber pinned the cloth around my neck, asked me what I wanted, and started snipping away. Snip snip snip. Not much chit chat. She asked me in an accented voice, "Are you Vietnamese?" And then I froze. New to the South Bay area, I was aware that there is large Vietnamese population that started living there in the 1970s in the wake of the Vietnam war. And I knew from my parents that there was no love lost between the Chinese and the Vietnamese during that era. But that was 30 years ago. Surely, no grudges would have been held since then. Snip snip snip. The scissors sounded very sharp. They had very pointed ends. I stammered, "Uh, my dad was Chinese." Snip snip snip. I waited for that "accidental" slip of the hand. She was quiet for a moment, but then she smiled and said, "Ne hao!" God bless America! I don't know if my ancestors ever oppressed her ancestors, but today under the northern California sun, that history is forgiven. I love this place. I've been going back for over 10 years now. The haircuts have gone up to $10. Leave a big tip, because these ladies work hard. read more

I have been going here for the last 15 years, ever since my middle school days. As a matter of fact, I have been going to the same lady (her name is Ann), and she consistently does a great job. The haircut costs $8, but every now and then, she'll charge me $5. If you want a nice fade, ask for Ann or Julie. Periodically, the place will be full but worth the wait. Trust me. read more

I went here when it first opened years ago and then moved away. It has been more than 10 years now and am now back. I take my man, my little boy and myself here for our haircuts. It depends on the lady who cut your hair. Only one of them is quite good, but the others are so unprofessional. They don't even know how to hold a pair of scissors. The hair obviously looked different from one side to another. The sides were a little bit better than the top. The length of the top & front is definitely not even. I am not sure where did they learn how to cut, but not anyone who can hold a pair of scissors or a trimming machine can be a stylist. read more

Generally a good place to go to, but this review is for specifically my most recent experience. I think there's only man that works there, and that's who I had on this day. Towards the end of an otherwise fine haircut, he decided to use a razor and SHAVE OFF my widow's peak (probably about 30 hairs) plus a dozen more hairs on each corners of my forehead. Basically, without asking, he decided to redefine my hairline. That was a month ago, and right now I have this ugly looking tuft in the middle of my forehead that's managed to grow out about half an inch. I can either shave it off again perpetually or else I'm going to have to wait probably 2 more months for it to be long enough to blend back in with my hair, which is what I'll probably do. I can't figure out why he'd choose to do this; I've never had anyone else do that before. read more

My family's been going to Lisa's cuts for years; I was a regular customer of theirs while I was in middle and high school, and they did an alright job when I told them exactly what I want. I'm in college now, and I think their skills have either gone down the drain, or they just don't really care about doing a good job. Last time I went, I got my hair cut by the woman (long straight dark brown hair) who's usually closest to the door. For the duration of the haircut, I had to endure her talking to one of the other barbers, Tuan, in Vietnamese. The one who gave me a haircut usually does a lousy job despite having a cosmetology license. She's given my father haircuts in the past, and gave an uneven neckline on occasion or sometimes worse. If you want a good men's haircut for the price of 8$, I highly recommend Tuan. She is the short woman, and last time I checked, she had curly dyed-blonde hair. She usually cuts hair in the chairs to the left of the cash register. She will listen to what you want, and do it to the best of her ability. However, there were a couple times I requested to cut the sides of my head with scissors, which she has done, and it turned out well. And when I came back and requested Tuan to use scissors, she said it couldn't be done even though I was asking for the same hairstyle. Uh... what? She's done it before, and now she says she can't? It's just weird. She's the lesser of the two evils. Lol. read more

This place is close to my work, I found it out of convenience but I keep coming back because it's a) fast, b) cheap c) decent. I have been satisfied with the haircuts I have had there. I had tried 3 other salons in the are before this one, and though it is among the less expensive ones, the quality of the hair cuts and styling is better then at more expensive salons. I have never had color done over there so I cannot comment on that but kudos for hair cuts and styling. read more

I get my hair cut by Ann, and she has been pleasant and friendly, and cuts it the way I like it. It's hard to beat $8...plus you're in and out of there really quickly. So far so good. read more

I'm a low maintenance guy so a haircut is a haircut. It will grow back. I've had no complaints with this place. I have been looking for a good haircut place for the longest time. I started at Happy Cuts on Homestead and Hollenbeck, but they never really did a good job, and were pricey. Then I tried Super Cuts next door, which was a bit better, but still did not cut my hair the way I wanted it. Finally, I came to Lisa's Perfect Cuts and saw that one of the hair stylists had an interesting hair style that was similar to mine. She cut my hair exactly the way I wanted it even though I don't think she spoke much English. I have come back to there a second time, and got another great hair cut. My first use of Yelp and very successful one. You can even get a good cut here if your hair isn't Asian, but instead is sparse hair on a sixty year old white guy. Oh, and they listened to me. I've been visiting this place for the past 3 years and have almost no complaints. The longest I've ever had to wait is about 15 minutes which is not bad. They do a good job with the haircut itself and are super cheap (I have a simple hair style so it's very easy to cut my hair). They are at times a little chatty, but I guess that is a part and parcel of this business. The place could surely use improvements.
