Ink therapy, is not for everyone! If it's your jam, let's stop talking and make it forever!…read more Getting inked, it's an ultimate compliment and commitment to life and whatever you're placing for all to see, but mostly you! You need to trust the person tattooing you too! Ultimately it's Devin, and his recommendation. How did I find this guy? Devin! On a prior look he came up. It was let's explore putting the passion for a new ink and needing someone to perform it. Devin over and over again came up. Here we go. We have to get past all the screaming issues with schedules and when? what time? After all that and text is amazing for this we had set a date and time. However the tattoo was done with a different person, Marcus but Devin was the main one in the beginning. Thank you for all your support and professionalism. Now let's talk about Marcus . Marcus the magician made it all possible and perfect . Mind you we have to have a certain date, and it has to be three tattoos of the same thing. Everything is better in three's right. This is riveting! Let's continue . Our loss of the loved on occurred on Feb 22! The tattoo all three of us were making possible by Marcus, was 222. The second month of the year of 2 and the date of death 22. Simple right . In the end of our saga Marcus made it all happen. What a great player in our game of life . Then it does not end here either . It was the meaning of the tattoo that made Marcus make this possible. The angel number of 222 are something to remind one to keep going and find balance. Trust the process like they say! The process of what, still figuring that out . Sometimes we need reminders to keep us focused. The significance of 222 is a twin flame, a never ending story and cycle and harmony. Marcus gave me a little peace and glimpse of gratitude since after losing life prior . We must remember always but continue . Twin flames never fade. In fact the twins had the same vision of 222 done on them . For a second time in life we are allowed to have another one. At one point ink has always been important to me. The infinity mark Marcus touched for the contingency of life and how it keeps revolving after death. We can make it happen forever. But we must move forward, the past is that; the past . The future we are living and longing for. The present is now these small reminders that one needs to make life livable is why we are here. Marcus we could not be happier with your professionalism and talent with the ink process . Getting a tattoo is an intimate experience. This is forever, don't forget that . Thank you for making this happen with the expectations that were set over the text messages. All is amazing . Marcus you made magic happen, with the wave and buzz of your hands . Our lives will be forever reminded by our memories you helped us remind, and move forward. We forever will remember and cherish the memories. The new memories we will make too with a special new bond and gift of love forever yet again .

My daughters and I went in to get three small tattoos and spoke with Jake about pricing. He…read moreinitially told us it would be $150 for all three tattoos. However, when the session was complete, he told us the cost was actually $150 per tattoo. Considering the tattoos were quite small and took less than an hour to complete, this was unexpected. We pointed out the miscommunication, and Jake explained that the shop's minimum charge is $100. But earlier, when discussing pricing, he had mentioned that he could draw something in the range of $50-$200, which made the $100 minimum seem inconsistent. While I felt the situation wasn't handled as clearly as it should have been, Drew, another artist at the shop that did two of our tattoos, was very understanding. He apologized for the confusion and gave us two free shirts to make up for it, which was a nice gesture. I think it would be helpful if the shop's minimum charge were clearly posted somewhere, as we didn't see it. Drew's professionalism definitely stood out, and I would recommend confirming the total price in writing before proceeding with any tattoos here to avoid any misunderstandings. Overall, I appreciate Drew's kindness, but I suggest others ensure they have a clear, written agreement on pricing before starting their tattoos.

Wife and I have been wanting to get pierced for over a week now. We stopped by about a week ago…read more Both Google & Yelp said they were open. So we drove to the shop and guess what,.... Closed. Today we're on Water street and we still would like to get pierced. Tried calling, no answer, left a message on the answering machine over an hour ago and no reply. Yet Yelp and Google say their open. Not sure if they've actually closed permanently or if they just make up their own awkward work hours. Either way, poor business practice. UPDATE Saturday Sept 16th - I stand corrected. Evidently the wife and I tried visiting on Sunday and they're closed on Sundays. (Yelp and Google says that they're open) Left a message last Sunday, Jeremy the owner text me on Tuesday explaining that they're closed on Sundays. Made an appointment via text message. We visit on Wednesday and finally had the piercings we've been wanting done. Yaaaay Chatted with Jeremy for a while and he's a really genuinely nice guy, with a sweet Octopus tattoo on his head. Jeremy is also the piercer and has plenty of cool piercings himself. All in all, great visit and great operation. I would definitely recommend. Just make sure to make an appointment

He is an excellent artist who enjoys what he does and the results speak for themselves. My experience was with a former artist, Lachy, who no longer works at this shop. Although he has…read moresince moved on, this experience took place while he was employed here, and it accurately reflects how my concerns were handled by both the artist and the shop. I spent a lot of time researching tattoo shops because I wanted high-quality work, and after seeing this shop's reviews and Lachy's portfolio, I felt confident booking with him. One thing I wish had been disclosed beforehand was that there would be a language barrier. Communication throughout the appointment was difficult, and I wasn't expecting that. During the tattoo, Lachy also left for about 10 minutes without saying anything, which I found unprofessional. When the tattoo was finished, I immediately noticed that the lines on the dagger weren't symmetrical and pointed it out before leaving. He attempted to make a small adjustment, but ultimately told me to let the tattoo heal for a month because the lines would settle. After it healed, the issues I was concerned about were still there. I also felt that parts of the tattoo appeared darker than I had expected. I contacted the shop to schedule a touch-up, but I felt it was more difficult than it should have been to get back in. I had also left a $200 deposit for a future tattoo. When I explained that I wasn't sure I wanted to move forward until I felt better about my first tattoo, my future appointment was canceled rather than anyone taking the time to address my concerns or reassure me. When I returned for the touch-up, I felt my concerns weren't taken seriously. Two other artists, Harim and another artist, looked at the tattoo and acknowledged that the lines weren't perfectly straight, even though they didn't believe the issue was severe. I appreciated their honesty, but this tattoo is permanent and on my body, so my opinion of the final result mattered. The solution ended up being to make the lines thicker, which helped slightly but did not correct the original issue that bothered me. After the touch-up, Lachy returned my $200 deposit and told me he wouldn't be doing my next tattoo because he doesn't do black-and-gray work. That confused me because his portfolio included black-and-gray tattoos, which was one of the reasons I chose him. The following day, I called the shop and spoke with the manager, Vanessa, hoping to explain why I was disappointed. She told me she already knew why I was calling because Lachy had already spoken with her. During that conversation, I was told that I had "started it." As a paying client who was respectfully expressing concerns about a permanent tattoo, hearing that was incredibly disappointing. I left feeling like I had been labeled a difficult client simply because I wasn't satisfied with the quality of my tattoo and wanted my concerns taken seriously. Four years have passed, and I still feel the same way about both the tattoo and the way my concerns were handled. I liked the concept of the design, but I wasn't satisfied with the execution or the customer service I received afterward. I understand that every client's experience will be different, but this was mine, and I hope it helps others make an informed decision.

*************In Response to Ownership's Comments*************…read moreI never rant, I explain. The fact that you claim the only way to get your best service is to come in is exactly how and why you earned a single star review. So here is my PSA if you care to rectify what you did wrong. Disarm customers. People have stigmas about tattoo. For some it could be the price, for others it could be the pain and for some it could be the quality. I know what I wanted was so vanilla, that anyone could not only do it, but do it quickly. Originally, I thought Koolsville could do it and I'm sure they could, but in reflection, I didn't want a tattoo that was going to fade or not look like a paid full price. If I had a car and parking wasn't an issue, I might have popped in on all the shops I considered, but again, knowing that what I wanted was a 1 on a scale of 1-10 in terms or effort or expertise, I just wanted to know I was going to get what I needed without being ripped-off or dismissed. The shop that I ended up using understood what I wanted, was able to confirm pricing ahead of time and ASSURED ME, IF I CAME IN, I'D BE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF. That didn't happen in my exchange with your staff. *********************************************************** Yelp claims to be a place of integrity, but at times the review system is abused. Reviews are intended to capture an experience. You don't have to spend money or even be a customer to have an experience with a business and that is exactly what I reviewed for Black Spade. I reached out to them about having work done while I was on vacation. Rather than call them rude or abrasive, which they were, I'll just say they were dismissive. Based on that interaction, I continued to request quotes from other vendors before being treated with respect by Illuminati Tattoos. So, unless Yelp has changed their policy and reviews now require a documented exchange of money. That is my first-hand recount of contacting Black Spade. Some times you got to call a spade a spade.
