TO POTENTIAL STUDENTS:…read more DO NOT EVEN BOTHER LOOKING HERE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING BEAUTY SCHOOL! Stuff the school does not mention to you at the time of enrollment: - they PREFER you have at least SOME experience in what you are there to learn, in other words, newbies not apply - Staff does not care who you are after you are enrolled, so do not expect any special treatment and/or caring staff members for any concerns you may have - that kit that you pay for out of pocket, items will be used for practice and on customers if the school just simply cannot supply what is needed - nail techs always run out of paper towels and acrylic, always - its irritating and inconvenient to them if you have no one at home to practice on - if its busy, you will run out of the proper equipment needed and be given a stool and a box to place your ass and supplies on while doing a pedicure -while being taught how to do something, you will not be given any pointers on what you should work on to improve and the only response given to you by so called PROFESSIONAL and LICENSED cosmetologists / manicurists is pretty much, 'good enough.' -unless you are enrolling with a friend, don't expect fellow students to try and help you out or BECOME your friend. SNOBBY SNOBBY SNOBBY! -If you mess something up, or do not do it properly, both your fellow students AND staff, will make fun of you behind your back not bothering to give you pointers or any sort of helpful advice - if you want someone to take any complaint you may have seriously, you have to threaten to drop out and get your money back. But even then, they go back to ignoring you as soon as they know you've given them a second chance - Even if class picture day is 2 days after you enroll, You are expected to participate no matter how uncomfortable you are - If the next competition is scheduled within the first week of you starting, you are expected to participate and be judged on your work. No matter how advanced or inexperienced you are. - Nail techs, cosmos and estheticians do not intermingle. They all talk poorly about each other. - NO student actually LIKES attending here - The only time you are noticed is when you don't show up for class, since that can be held against you - Miss Tana is not a very well liked person, she has the mentality of a popular girl in high school and needs to knock it off with the 6 inch heels and low cut tops - if you pay tuition in full you get less attention from the school. Only because they do not have to come after you at any point to get the rest of their money -they do student appreciation day, and some foods served will be prepared in the sinks dirty foot water, acetone and other chemicals are poured into - Miss idontknowhowtospellhername, the staff member you should be dealing with most, the staff member in charge of keeping you updated about your status, the staff member keeping track of your attendance and hours, is very unprofessional. Shes rude, often pisses students off, doesn't go out of her way to try and help you and VERY much should not be working with people - you are expected to start working with the public after 100 hours (at least as a nail technician) no matter if you've practiced 1 mani / pedi or 5 - if you refuse to participate in required competions for any reason, you will be threatened suspension. Even if the reason is that you don't feel comfortable because you just started I cannot stress to you how terrible this place was. It was like being in high school again, but everyone was over 18, some even over 50. Staff often recommends to prospective students that the best way to get an idea of whether or not they should attend is to get a service done and talk to a current student about it. Don't bother. I can tell you right now that not one student was happy or excited to be there. If any of the students said otherwise, Its because an instructor or staff member was nearby. The quality of work done by students was pathetic. For practicing state board so often, I was expecting some impressive work by at least SOME students. The only student I would have let do any practice on me was self taught for years and was only attending school to be licensed. Marinello was not responsible for teaching her any skills she had. I think as a cosmetology school, they should ALWAYS be supplied with needed materials, especially since they are used on a daily basis. Constantly being out of Mortimer, Acrylic, Paper towels, pedicure chairs, and acetone is ridiculous. Its even MORE ridiculous that they expect you to use supplies in your kit which YOU pay for out of pocket. On top of that, the Orkin man that sprays both at the school and at my work asked me why I wasn't attending, I told him I didn't like the program and the school itself was nasty and he replied 'well I could of told you that.' Even the guy who sprays for bugs thinks this schools gross? eww.

Betrayal, bullshit, fake ass liars is what this school has to offer its students. So, let me tell…read moreyou all about my experiences being a student here... What I had to deal with for the first few weeks was a teacher who was doing her job and showed us everything; we are supposed to learn her skills amazed me. Because she was teaching three levels at the same time, which I thought to myself, this is strange and very odd. However, she pulled it off with ease. After the first couple of weeks with her was awesome. Nevertheless, that was short lived she was fired over some trumped up lies lots of drama followed afterward. Nothing, but bullshit lies, we had to endure shortly after they fired our favorite teacher. We did not have any teachers for three weeks really that would give us what we paid for, and if we did, they did not cut it for us. It was mainly an adult daycare; we had play dates with the nail students. We are the cosmetologist, not nail technology that is not what we enrolled our self for. Do not get me wrong the nail technology teacher was fantastic and showed us a few things to do with haircuts. She had skills in cutting hair, but that was not her job she is a nail technology, not a cosmetology. They mess with our grades, test, we were behind a few test that was supposed to be given to us, and we had to bitch them out about given us our test. One would be so lucky to have a teacher that gives a damn in this case it was a revolving door when it came to having a teacher in this school our tuition is budgeted for paying for supplies as in hair product, teachers pay and so on. The director that works here is all in it lining her pocket!! Yes, she is a con artist lining her pockets with the money from our tuition. Oh and get this they charge every student different tuition prices when it is supposed to be a flat rate, everyone shouldn't be charge different prices it is a fact that is against the law!!! Yes, it is. This campest is so ugly and outdated; I mean it looks tired like a boarding school. It is no wonder students are dropping out like flies and has transferred to better schools like Paul Mitchel, Aveda, Euphoria to get the right professional training you are paying for!! So, my question is why would Wella, and Sebastian sponsoring such a poor school all it's doing is tarnish their good name. This school is being run down by its director along with her little clan and needs to be stopped before it is too late. I do not recommend anyone enroll into any Marinello's school campest in Las Vegas. They are poorly run down to the ground by co-artist, and it is a shame because low lives are ruining Marinello's name. That one good thing that came out of this was Mrs. Danny for the two weeks we had her for along with meeting some great students here.

I had such a great experience with Karina at the Academy of Hair Design. She did an excellent job…read moreon my Gel X nails. She was very gentle, really listened to what I wanted, and got everything done in under 90 minutes, which I truly appreciated. It is hard to find people who actually take the time to understand what you want, and Karina definitely did. She did my Gel X fill and a new set. About four nails needed a new set and the rest were fills, and everything came out seamless. I showed her a picture and she did my nails almost exactly like it, honestly she did a little more and I loved it. She even did a dry manicure, which made such a difference. I asked a lot of questions during my appointment and learned so much. She kindly answered every single one without rushing or making me feel uncomfortable. She is very sweet and clearly cares about her work. It is rare that I am truly happy when I leave a nail salon, which is why I decided to check out a school and I found the Academy of Hair Design. From my experience, students who are learning tend to be more caring and detailed. Karina proved that to be true. I walked out extremely happy and would absolutely recommend her. BTW, you can't make an appointment through the school. However, if you enjoy your service and like the student, you can exchange information and make appointments directly with that student at the school. GEL-X Full Set - $40.00 Shape comes with it. Nail Design - $1.00 & up per nail depends on your design.

I usually go to Aveda, but there was that Living Social deal, so I figured, what the heck?…read more The deal included hair cut, blowdry, highlights, deep conditioning, a mani/pedi, and eyebrow and lip wax. And yet, at $50, still not worth it. To start with, my girl was very nice, but it was her first time ever on the floor. Now, I think it's really inappropriate to put a first-time stylist with a client with so many different parts. She was clearly lost the whole time, had to keep getting help, kept me waiting, and didn't even finish my manicure. I ended up just getting a trim, because it was clear she couldn't handle what I actually wanted. The other students were a huge problem though: they were not only unprofessional, some were downright obnoxious. There was one point, while an instructor was checking my cut, that I was surrounded by five people: my stylist, her 'helping friend,' the instructor, some loud student who wanted help for his own hair, and some guy who didn't even work there! I mean, I'm used to the student/instructor setting in Aveda, but this is ridiculous! The whole time I was there, students were gossiping, doing their own hair-- I even heard one student joking about a customer she had just had! If you want a mediocre cut that'll take hours, go to Aveda. At least there, the students listen to you and act like you're a person.

I was planning on joining the cosmetology program, It seemed very convinient due to the schedule…read moreand that it was close to home. I was getting ready to start so i had orientation and first of all the lady that was doing the orientation was running an hour late, I had to call her and she ask's me to reschedule like it was ok i found that very unproffesional. So i got a call later on that evening and got asked to reschedule again but I really had my doubts at that time, besides this whole issue while I was waiting for this lady that never showed up all the students ware walking around some ware doing their own hair, I never saw an instructor , no one was learning from what I saw and I seen absolety no customers, just everyone in general looked very unproffesional. So I never write a review but I do not recommend this school AT ALL and this goes for people trying to become students or the ones that get services. This school needs to close down.
