I had an appointment for this afternoon and after driving all the way over there and waiting for someone to help me, I finally get told that my appointment isn't going to happen because there was "nobody around to help" because all their students decided to either go home or just not show up for work!! It would have been nice for a supervisor or someone in charge to take a minute and call me to reschedule so I not only wasted my time but also my gas. Book appointments at your own risk! read more

I came in for a deep pore cleansing and was taken care of by Anna! She took amazing care of me. OMG, she is so gorgeous and welcoming!!! I was greeted with a beautiful smile and a very warm welcome. I walked in stressed and tense. I left feeling REFRESHED, Happy, and calmer thanks to Anna's service. First of all, when I walked in there was a beautiful welcome note for me on her treatment room door! What a way to start a facial!! She is very caring, knowledgeable on everything skincare, personable, and gentle with you and your face. I came in with a Huge zit on my face. She got rid of it. It is now less inflamed and noticeable!! My pores are NON-existant and SMOOTH!!!! Anna took AMAZING care of me. She gave me the best facial I have ever had in my life!!! She even massaged my shoulders during my facial which helped take so much tension I have been carrying. G Beauty Schools - Cosmetology Schools Near Me - Henderson, Nevada

UPDATE IS BELOW This review is from the view of a currently enrolled aesthetics student. I have a lot of pros and cons with this school, and I actually did my homework and toured multiple schools before deciding. I went with G Skin and Beauty Institute because they offer a laser program at their Arizona locations for $2500 for students. I was going to enroll at Aveda Institute but I felt this school would better me in the direction of my career. The first thing I have to say is how amazing the instructors are. Reading the previous reviews I'm unsure who were the instructors at their time of enrollment, but Miss Carol who has been in the medical field of esthiology for 15+ years and worked for many high end spas is such a wonderful person and full of so much knowledge! Also the senior teachers are extremely knowledgable. I don't think I would be enjoying my time here if it wasn't for these three instructors. The second pro is the schools flexibility with hours and scheduling. I am full time which is Tuesday-Friday 9-5, and if I need to make up any hours I can stay late (until 10) or come in on Saturday. I find this wonderful as life doesn't stop happening, and it's one less stress added. Now the cons. As plenty of the previous reviewers stated, the lack of supplies is sad and the quality of towels and sheets are SCARY. So scary that I hope the owners of this institute are reading this and will do something about it. I understand that we are STUDENTS but when the quality is so bad that our instructor purchases her entire class room a new set of towels, you know something is wrong. We later found that the hot water on the washer was NOT on! HEALTH CODE VIOLATION. As for the kits, I have witnessed multiple students not receive their supplies in the time that they were told they would, leaving students to purchase their own supplies! It's an outrage! WHY are we even paying a tuition if it's including NOTHING. I'm purchasing my own towels, extractors, facial brushes, skin care products, just to ensure that I have them every day and they are sanitary! WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?! The school also has wonderful machines including Diamond Microdermabrasion, galvanic, high frequency, vc shower, and lots of rooms to practice out of. Complaints ? A lot of our machines are broken ex: Steamers. We aren't able to practice our facial protocols properly because there are maybe two steamers, normally one, that float around. Again, I'm spending 15k and I cannot learn to use a steamer? Almost every mag.light is broken and unable to adjust properly leaving esthy students frustrated during client facials. How can you use an instrument that won't function properly? If you're looking to work at a spa after your enrollment I would suggest attending Aveda Institute which is a luxurious, spa like school. However if you're like me and want to be more medical (laser) I would suggest attending this school simply for their laser program. Again, the instructors are really what make this school worth going. Miss Carol is full of so much information and the level of skill they all have is astounding! UPDATE: They ended up firing the amazing esthetic instructor Miss Carol shortly before I became a senior. They (Paul and Saundra) told her she was too friendly with her students. She's what made us want to come to class each day and needless to say we all shed tears the day they fired her. Once I was a senior (see photo) I felt that we were left to do literally whatever. I was expecting more IN DEPTH training, hands on demos/training.... But we only had maybe 2 the whole time I was in that class. It was a huge disappointment as led me to dread going to that school every day to simply clock in and wait for a client for 8+ hours. As for the laser scheme they played a lot of us on to get us to enroll? They don't teach or offer classes for it in Nevada because Nevada doesn't have regulations or a "board" for lasers! Meaning anyone can literally be hired by a plastic surgeon (or who ever has a machine) and can use it! MEANING they sold us on something that we don't even NEED in the state of Nevada. I could have gone to Aveda and had a better experience for esthetics and ended up practicing lasers still. But of course no one told us this until after we paid our dues. The best update is that side graduating, I have spoken to numerous girls who still are attending and the main problems (at my time) Paul and Saundra have been fired. This may mean that things have straightened out? Not sure, but it's worth going into the school and asking current students how THEIR experience has been. I am writing this review for any prospective students that are looking around at different esthetics schools. I was in school with G Skin from Apr 3rd, 2012 to December 18th, 2012. Let me tell you how the process and everything was for me. Signing up was definitely an easy process with Karen. I made the mistake of picking a different school that I attended for a mere 4 hours. That school was so terrible that I came back the next day to withdraw and then signed up with G Skin the same day. Then I went to my first class that night. I will tell you now that my instructors Mr. Paul and Ms. Saundra knew what they were talking about when it came to skincare. What made this school stand out was that they teach you microdermabrasion and you learn with the machine hands on. The schedule is VERY flexible making it great for people who are working or are mothers. They offer morning schedules as well as night schedules, which was a huge + for me when I was looking around for schools because I work the day shift. You need to be there for a minimum of 12 hours a week. Making up hours is easy, just ask your instructor which classes/days you may come make up hours on and they will let you know. There is a finger print scanner for you to punch in with and they use Millenium as their software of choice. Honestly, learning IS your responsibility because the materials are there. If you are proactiv in class and want to be hands on, then be it. They will not chase you around and babysit you to make sure that you are constantly doing your work or working on clients because we're adults. The girls who came just to clock in and sit there to get hours got back exactly what they put in.. NOTHING. At the exact mark of 150 hours, you can work on clients and that is exactly what I did until the end of the year. The schooling is by syncs, for example: Sync 1 can be basic facials, basic massage, organic products, etc... So when you enroll in the middle of a sync, or miss one then it sucks because it won't come around for awhile. However, ask any of the instructors how to do something and I promise, they WILL show you or make a demo out of it.. just be persistent lol. The freshman side is where you will be doing the majority of your book work and learning for the written exam so pay attention! The senior side is for practice practice practice. Might as well make all of your mistakes in school because after school, it's the real world and YOUR license is on the line. If you aren't too sure of yourself about something, practice it over and over again. Cons: - We were constantly low on supplies. This might also be due to the fact that some students had sticky fingers lol. But still! The amount of money we pay for school, we should have some supplies. There are certain protocols for facials and when you don't have the appropriate cleanser or serum then it defeats the purpose. - Students. It is FRUSTRATING when only a certain small number of people are always putting in work. On the senior side, clients are given out by rotation so sometimes the girl before you will be MIA when it is her turn or she will just flat-out refuse to do it. That means you will constantly be working on clients, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but when you have to turn in projects or want to study for the next exam, it's terrible. - I'm not going to lie, they need to be stricter on making sure that EVERYONE does their part. Whether it be in sanitation, group projects, client rotation, etc.. We can't be responsible for calling each other out on it. -Constantly changing rules about anything and everything. Tip #1: Befriend some cosmo girls so that you guys could exchange services :) Tip #2: Bring your friends or family in here to receive services from you! They will be able to get a discount even though prices are already pretty low since you're a student. Overall, I am VERY HAPPY that I chose this school. Mr. Paul & Ms. Saundra are wonderful instructors. Plus, the way that they teach you how to pack your kit for stateboard (which is basically the purpose for going to school) trumps everyone else's kits. I recently took my stateboard practical examination and there were girls there struggling or not being able to set up within the time limit because their kits were so unorganized. To start off, I am a student at G Skin. I can honestly say that I have never felt so comfortable and excited to go to school all the time. I go to evening classes and the teacher Miss Malory is AMAZING. She is an amazing teacher and has so many skills that she is willing to show you. She does hair and makeup and is all about fashion. Quote by her, "Isn't it awesome to make people beautiful?" She is a sweetheart and will never hesitate with helping me or answering the many questions I ask. To add, I sometimes have Miss Angela, and she too is a sweetheart. This school is worth it, I feel welcomed. The way they teach you is awesome and how they are always there to help. If I could put more stars, I would. Also, the kit that you get isn't the same anymore, WAY better equipment!! read more

I really cannot express how unprofessional and disappointing this place is. It is not how long it takes I understand that. The wounds the student inflicted with no instructors around was the worst. My feet were BLEEDING and the instructor looked at them and said good job. I was there almost 5 hours and saw no sanitization going on. The students made fun of clients. I have been to this school multiple times for all different services. I have never had any trouble. Any issues that occurred (since it is in fact a school and the students are learning) were resolved quickly and professionally. I read some of the other reviews and would like people to know that all though this school nor any other school is not perfect, this school offers services that other schools do not. Specifically microdermabrasion and use of steamers (other school use warm towels only). Communication is key when going for services, remind the student of any issue you have or seek an instructor. Overall I do not know any other place you can receive spa services at these low prices and highly recommend G Skin and Beauty. read more

I was so looking forward to going to G Beauty School for first service. I was going to have a skin treatment. My appointment 1pm. I sat there for over an hour. The front desk people are very nice, but they don't seem to talk to the instructors or the students. The service I made an appointment for was not the service they set up for. The students are unfriendly and understandably unknowledgeable. The instructor that I spoke to was confused about the treatment, I had to show it to her on the website, and she said the service I saw on the website, that I booked an appointment for, was wrong (doesn't exist). I had to go back up to the front desk and choose another treatment. Then the lady at the front desk went for a break and I sat there another 30 minutes. The students don't seem to like the clients, as I was sitting waiting I saw three students laugh at a client after they walked by. The atmosphere inside was similar to a salon. The atmosphere outside was quite different as students were screaming and cursing and throwing things at each other. It was more like a public middle school parking lot. Maybe they can figure a way to have their school, but no customers and no clinic. That would be best. Other area schools like Euphoria.com or PaulMitchel.com are much better, higher class atmosphere, and no cursing or throwing things. read more

I was looking for a nail salon to try and figured why not give this a try. I know people that have gone to other beauty schools in Nevada that do good work and really learn from other schools so I made an appointment online from their "available appointments" I showed up 15 minutes early and was told to wait then at my appointment time they told me no one was there to do my nails so to wait 30 minutes. So i let her know that was fine I'll just grab something to eat since I just got out of work. I come back 35 minutes later so 5:35 and they tell me to have a seat and wait. So 20 minutes pass by and the instructor tells me none of her class is there so I tell her I'll wait till 6. 6:05 and still nothing and then I get a text at 7:17pm that my 5pm appointment was cancelled. LOL what? I hope that's not the time people decided to show up. If so that's not only negative towards clients it is also towards other students who want to really learn and get the most out of something they are paying for since they can't start because most of the people aren't there. Not sure what kind of program that is and if the students get proper customer service training because being a whole hour late and probably more if I would of stayed is not ok when dealing with clients and trying to build your clientele. Worst customer service from front desk and guy manager. We arrived one hour and 15 minutes before closing. They said they have closed and stopped taking customers. I said their menu and website says they take last customers one hour before they close. They said they have to do sanitations 30 min. before they close so they can't take customers. Still, that's 45 min. left to do a simple scalp treatment for me and mani gel-fillings for my gf. Without apologizing, they said to come back next time. Wow, what a waste of time! The only reason I am giving this school three stars is because of the instructors! All of the instructors except for the nail instructor are great they all know what they are talking about and are very knowledgable and willing to share it with you! The nail instructor is rude and acts as if she is so above you. She really needs to get off her high horse because we pay her salary! The reason I am not giving this school five stars is because they are always out of product. We never have shampoo, color or towels. Also when you go for the como program they do not allow you to use the pedicure chairs even if your client requests them we have to tell our clients no which is so unprofessional and it isn't the teachers fault but the nail tech teacher doesn't make it better she is so rude about it. I just think it is very sad that we pay 22,000 dollars to go to school here and we can't use the cheap pedicure chairs they have and we are always out of products which aren't even name brand, the products are GSkin brand whatever that means! The worst experience and very disorganized. I had my facial done and towels smelled very bad. The girl didn't do any extractions I requested and barely touched my skin while massaging. The hair part was even worse.. The girl didn't wash the back of my hair and had no idea what she was doing. She put on me dirty cover up and it smelled like an old cigarette smoke. She also had a body odor and her tools and products were falling on the floor while she was trying to blow dry my hair for an hour. I couldn't take it any longer and just left with unfinished hair. I love going here for mani/pedis and facials. The facility is clean, the students are friendly and you can't beat the prices! Yes, the students are slower than the pro's you'd find at a salon, but they're also way more concerned about doing a good job, since they know they're being judged and graded by their instructors. I always ask for a senior student and if I get someone that I'm not comfortable with I simply (politely!) tell the receptionist that I'd prefer someone else to do the service. If you're going for a facial, ask for Cosett-she's fantastic! Honestly, she did a better job with my facial than I've had at any of the last few salons I've tried. I hate when stylists are timid or touch you so lightly that it feels like they're afraid; she was confident with a firm touch. FYI - You can tip the students here but they don't expect it. I came here for a mani/pedi (I had purchased a Groupon) after trying to call them multiple times to set up an appointment no one picked up... So I just walked in (on a Friday) two ladies worked on me at the same time one did my feet and the other did my hands... I asked for a French manicure for my hands and she said she wasn't a nail tech and wasn't sure if she was allowed to do it... hearing this made me uneasy but she proceeded anyway.. I had clear polish on my hands from before and she said it wouldn't come off ... She made my hands bleed ... Literally... I have never felt such pain while getting a manicure ... She used all the wrong equipment for my mani I could have done a better job blindfolded... I didn't know french was so difficult ... My pedicure was awesome though (hence the extra star) and another star for prices the place is dirt cheap... But just a tip don't go on a Friday because there are no nail techs around... My sister is going to this school and like all of the girls do they practice on friends and family she is going for cosmetology she cut my hair and was going to give me a manicure and pedicure the service was great but I found out that they weren't allowed to use the pedicure chairs because of the fact that the nail teacher said they would destroy them I saw her classmate sitting on the floor with a bucket of water and her customer sitting on an old beat up computer chair this rubbed me the wrong way for the fact that I know that this school was the most expensive to go to and these girls are treated like dogs when it comes to their education when I asked a teacher she said it was a corporate decision obviously they don't care about the biggest paying customers which are the cosmetology students read more

This school is a joke, they tell you lies to get you to enroll, they dont provide much for you but when you enroll they tell you you'll get a kit and you never get one as an esthetician, for how much you are paying (which is a lot) they cant afford product or new towels so we are forced to use towels with holes in them, the instructors are unprofessional and dont care what your doing to a client, they try to set rules but dont enforce them and they let students do whatever they want, they dont teach you much, you're better off buying a book or going on youtube and teaching yourself. Being a student here they make you feel like your a bother to them and make it uncomfortable when you have to ask for something, to put it bluntly they are just very unpleasant and rude. They changed locations and is now located in Henderson and the only nice thing about it is the outside of it and the students. This school is deceiving! Well I went with my husband to get a mani/pedi which we each had a coupon for. Before going - the day before I called and got a recording that said what the hours were going to be for that Friday and Saturday. We got there exactly when we were told the start time would be - no one up front to talk with . We went to the back and they were just setting up and the workers there said they would not be coming in for at least another hour. Told them about the recording but no response. They did not know what was going on. So needless to say - we never had the mani pedi and we have no intentions of going. I would not recommend as the reception was very poor. I have beeen to schools before but never experienced this. Makes me wonder what the instructors are like. Such a horrible experience! I brought 2 friends with me for us all to get facials. The lady at the front eith dark short hair and blonde on top said they had two estes ready. I said I'd wait for a third one to come in finally one did so I was next to get a facial. Note I had been waiting 1 1/2 hrs by this time. I told this lady at the front yhat I had been there recently and was excited about coming back. First she could'nt find me in thrir system then when she finally did she said oh I see you got a lip wax! Ummm no I've never had a lip wax in my life. Im concerned on the record keeping. Then just when its time for me to finally get my facial as the este needed time to set up her room for me, thats when a lady came in and requested the este I was about to be with so the lady at the front bumped me and put the walk in client in with the este I had been waiting for. Then asks me if I'd be ok getting a facial in a waxing room as all the facial rooms were full!!! Who runs a business like this? Also obviously false record keeping if they had me down for a prior visit lip wax! I'll be contacting state board and a few higher ups on this experience! I am not a person to write mean and nasty reviews about any place ever but with the recent changes of this school I am shocked and feel like I need to say something. Do not go here if you want to join the cosmetology program. This school is great I'm sure if you're doing esthetics I've only heard great things but cosmetology students are treated so poorly and unfair when we pay the most! Funny how a cosmetologist can do hair, skin and nails and we are not aloud to do any nails or skin leaving us completely unprepared for state board and leaving us short on education we are paying for. The head of the school should really take consideration of students and the time they have there and that they want to learn. And the nail program I don't recommend anyone to learn under the nail instructor there- has no professionalism or people skills to even communicate nicely to clients let alone her students. They need real sincere people who Want to teach like the cosmetologist instructors Malory, Laura, and Angie. Such a rip off considering how much you pay for no product ever or supplies! Color line sucks! How can anyone learn off such a bad color line that's not even sold in professional stores? And if you are going to start enforcing rules and cracking down at least start off that way. You can't go half way through a school year and start making all these changes and expect people not to listen or respect you! I started off school a completely different way where I loved going to school and loved the environment and everyone wanted to be there and learn and now almost everyone who goes there wants to drop out or switch schools! For anyone thinking of attending this school please rethink your decision. The instructors do not help you as much as they say they do and they are very rude to their students. I come to this school for an aesthetics course and like me, you will think this school is VERY unprofessional and a joke. Any time you ask an instructor for help, expect an attitude. Most of the day the instructors aren't even in the classroom but they expect you to be. Now the course costs $15,500, they give you almost nothing and expect you to pay for your own state board kit. They give you a cheap set of facial brushes and makeup brushes, also you only get one product of a very basic makeup kit from Mac Makeup. Honestly, I can get better and a bigger quantity for the amount you pay for. The students before me paid less and got bigger kit along with a tablet. We no longer get the luxuries although we pay more for our tuition. Let's not forget that they do not inform you of your remaining balance, that needs to be paid in order to have your hours released, until you are ready to graduate. Comments were recently made by the school's employees that $500 is not a lot of money. That we should be able to come up with it quickly by asking family and friends for it. They do not understand that some people have harder lives than others and families to take care of. Make sure you're satisfied with the schedule that you choose because they will make you pay a minimum of $40 to change it. They were constantly low on supplies. The amount of money we pay for school, we should have some supplies. There are certain protocols for facials and when you don't have the appropriate cleanser or serum then it defeats the purpose.And the paper everyone signs saying that you basically have to behave yourself or you get kicked out, means nothing.
