Student sheets, which after folding leave a disgusting residue on your skin. Why would I want to bring friends in to practice on
Amanda S.

UPDATE IS BELOW This review is from the view of a currently enrolled aesthetics student. I have a lot of pros and cons with this school, and I actually did my homework and toured multiple schools before deciding. I went with G Skin and Beauty Institute because they offer a laser program at their Arizona locations for $2500 for students. I was going to enroll at Aveda Institute but I felt this school would better me in the direction of my career. The first thing I have to say is how amazing the instructors are. Reading the previous reviews I'm unsure who were the instructors at their time of enrollment, but Miss Carol who has been in the medical field of esthiology for 15+ years and worked for many high end spas is such a wonderful person and full of so much knowledge! Also the senior teachers are extremely knowledgable. I don't think I would be enjoying my time here if it wasn't for these three instructors. The second pro is the schools flexibility with hours and scheduling. I am full time which is Tuesday-Friday 9-5, and if I need to make up any hours I can stay late (until 10) or come in on Saturday. I find this wonderful as life doesn't stop happening, and it's one less stress added. Now the cons. As plenty of the previous reviewers stated, the lack of supplies is sad and the quality of towels and sheets are SCARY. So scary that I hope the owners of this institute are reading this and will do something about it. I understand that we are STUDENTS but when the quality is so bad that our instructor purchases her entire class room a new set of towels, you know something is wrong. We later found that the hot water on the washer was NOT on! HEALTH CODE VIOLATION. As for the kits, I have witnessed multiple students not receive their supplies in the time that they were told they would, leaving students to purchase their own supplies! It's an outrage! WHY are we even paying a tuition if it's including NOTHING. I'm purchasing my own towels, extractors, facial brushes, skin care products, just to ensure that I have them every day and they are sanitary! WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?! The school also has wonderful machines including Diamond Microdermabrasion, galvanic, high frequency, vc shower, and lots of rooms to practice out of. Complaints ? A lot of our machines are broken ex: Steamers. We aren't able to practice our facial protocols properly because there are maybe two steamers, normally one, that float around. Again, I'm spending 15k and I cannot learn to use a steamer? Almost every mag.light is broken and unable to adjust properly leaving esthy students frustrated during client facials. How can you use an instrument that won't function properly? If you're looking to work at a spa after your enrollment I would suggest attending Aveda Institute which is a luxurious, spa like school. However if you're like me and want to be more medical (laser) I would suggest attending this school simply for their laser program. Again, the instructors are really what make this school worth going. Miss Carol is full of so much information and the level of skill they all have is astounding! UPDATE: They ended up firing the amazing esthetic instructor Miss Carol shortly before I became a senior. They (Paul and Saundra) told her she was too friendly with her students. She's what made us want to come to class each day and needless to say we all shed tears the day they fired her. Once I was a senior (see photo) I felt that we were left to do literally whatever. I was expecting more IN DEPTH training, hands on demos/training.... But we only had maybe 2 the whole time I was in that class. It was a huge disappointment as led me to dread going to that school every day to simply clock in and wait for a client for 8+ hours. As for the laser scheme they played a lot of us on to get us to enroll? They don't teach or offer classes for it in Nevada because Nevada doesn't have regulations or a "board" for lasers! Meaning anyone can literally be hired by a plastic surgeon (or who ever has a machine) and can use it! MEANING they sold us on something that we don't even NEED in the state of Nevada. I could have gone to Aveda and had a better experience for esthetics and ended up practicing lasers still. But of course no one told us this until after we paid our dues. The best update is that side graduating, I have spoken to numerous girls who still are attending and the main problems (at my time) Paul and Saundra have been fired. This may mean that things have straightened out? Not sure, but it's worth going into the school and asking current students how THEIR experience has been. I can personally say it was so scammy and opened up my eyes of the BS of the beauty school world.

New Location is beautiful!

I might be joining the school next couple of months. The tour was great, and the instructors seem pretty educated nice and kind.

TO POTENTIAL STUDENTS:…read more DO NOT EVEN BOTHER LOOKING HERE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING BEAUTY SCHOOL! Stuff the school does not mention to you at the time of enrollment: - they PREFER you have at least SOME experience in what you are there to learn, in other words, newbies not apply - Staff does not care who you are after you are enrolled, so do not expect any special treatment and/or caring staff members for any concerns you may have - that kit that you pay for out of pocket, items will be used for practice and on customers if the school just simply cannot supply what is needed - nail techs always run out of paper towels and acrylic, always - its irritating and inconvenient to them if you have no one at home to practice on - if its busy, you will run out of the proper equipment needed and be given a stool and a box to place your ass and supplies on while doing a pedicure -while being taught how to do something, you will not be given any pointers on what you should work on to improve and the only response given to you by so called PROFESSIONAL and LICENSED cosmetologists / manicurists is pretty much, 'good enough.' -unless you are enrolling with a friend, don't expect fellow students to try and help you out or BECOME your friend. SNOBBY SNOBBY SNOBBY! -If you mess something up, or do not do it properly, both your fellow students AND staff, will make fun of you behind your back not bothering to give you pointers or any sort of helpful advice - if you want someone to take any complaint you may have seriously, you have to threaten to drop out and get your money back. But even then, they go back to ignoring you as soon as they know you've given them a second chance - Even if class picture day is 2 days after you enroll, You are expected to participate no matter how uncomfortable you are - If the next competition is scheduled within the first week of you starting, you are expected to participate and be judged on your work. No matter how advanced or inexperienced you are. - Nail techs, cosmos and estheticians do not intermingle. They all talk poorly about each other. - NO student actually LIKES attending here - The only time you are noticed is when you don't show up for class, since that can be held against you - Miss Tana is not a very well liked person, she has the mentality of a popular girl in high school and needs to knock it off with the 6 inch heels and low cut tops - if you pay tuition in full you get less attention from the school. Only because they do not have to come after you at any point to get the rest of their money -they do student appreciation day, and some foods served will be prepared in the sinks dirty foot water, acetone and other chemicals are poured into - Miss idontknowhowtospellhername, the staff member you should be dealing with most, the staff member in charge of keeping you updated about your status, the staff member keeping track of your attendance and hours, is very unprofessional. Shes rude, often pisses students off, doesn't go out of her way to try and help you and VERY much should not be working with people - you are expected to start working with the public after 100 hours (at least as a nail technician) no matter if you've practiced 1 mani / pedi or 5 - if you refuse to participate in required competions for any reason, you will be threatened suspension. Even if the reason is that you don't feel comfortable because you just started I cannot stress to you how terrible this place was. It was like being in high school again, but everyone was over 18, some even over 50. Staff often recommends to prospective students that the best way to get an idea of whether or not they should attend is to get a service done and talk to a current student about it. Don't bother. I can tell you right now that not one student was happy or excited to be there. If any of the students said otherwise, Its because an instructor or staff member was nearby. The quality of work done by students was pathetic. For practicing state board so often, I was expecting some impressive work by at least SOME students. The only student I would have let do any practice on me was self taught for years and was only attending school to be licensed. Marinello was not responsible for teaching her any skills she had. I think as a cosmetology school, they should ALWAYS be supplied with needed materials, especially since they are used on a daily basis. Constantly being out of Mortimer, Acrylic, Paper towels, pedicure chairs, and acetone is ridiculous. Its even MORE ridiculous that they expect you to use supplies in your kit which YOU pay for out of pocket. On top of that, the Orkin man that sprays both at the school and at my work asked me why I wasn't attending, I told him I didn't like the program and the school itself was nasty and he replied 'well I could of told you that.' Even the guy who sprays for bugs thinks this schools gross? eww.

Betrayal, bullshit, fake ass liars is what this school has to offer its students. So, let me tell…read moreyou all about my experiences being a student here... What I had to deal with for the first few weeks was a teacher who was doing her job and showed us everything; we are supposed to learn her skills amazed me. Because she was teaching three levels at the same time, which I thought to myself, this is strange and very odd. However, she pulled it off with ease. After the first couple of weeks with her was awesome. Nevertheless, that was short lived she was fired over some trumped up lies lots of drama followed afterward. Nothing, but bullshit lies, we had to endure shortly after they fired our favorite teacher. We did not have any teachers for three weeks really that would give us what we paid for, and if we did, they did not cut it for us. It was mainly an adult daycare; we had play dates with the nail students. We are the cosmetologist, not nail technology that is not what we enrolled our self for. Do not get me wrong the nail technology teacher was fantastic and showed us a few things to do with haircuts. She had skills in cutting hair, but that was not her job she is a nail technology, not a cosmetology. They mess with our grades, test, we were behind a few test that was supposed to be given to us, and we had to bitch them out about given us our test. One would be so lucky to have a teacher that gives a damn in this case it was a revolving door when it came to having a teacher in this school our tuition is budgeted for paying for supplies as in hair product, teachers pay and so on. The director that works here is all in it lining her pocket!! Yes, she is a con artist lining her pockets with the money from our tuition. Oh and get this they charge every student different tuition prices when it is supposed to be a flat rate, everyone shouldn't be charge different prices it is a fact that is against the law!!! Yes, it is. This campest is so ugly and outdated; I mean it looks tired like a boarding school. It is no wonder students are dropping out like flies and has transferred to better schools like Paul Mitchel, Aveda, Euphoria to get the right professional training you are paying for!! So, my question is why would Wella, and Sebastian sponsoring such a poor school all it's doing is tarnish their good name. This school is being run down by its director along with her little clan and needs to be stopped before it is too late. I do not recommend anyone enroll into any Marinello's school campest in Las Vegas. They are poorly run down to the ground by co-artist, and it is a shame because low lives are ruining Marinello's name. That one good thing that came out of this was Mrs. Danny for the two weeks we had her for along with meeting some great students here.

I have always had a dream to work in at a winery in the area of growing and harvesting. This is a…read moreclose as I can get for now. Some friends and I got together from work and decided to make our own wine and this school of winemaking is where it took place. This is da place where the magic happened for us! We started in September by gathering and deciding what kind of wine we were going to make. We decided to try and get as close to a Sangiovese as we could. First we received the grapes from Northern California, yes I wish they would have come from Italy too but these grapes were still ripe and ready. Now it was time to de-stem the grapes and crush them. We used a really cool Italian machine to accomplish this task. Now it was time to crush the grapes to get the juices flowing. Once this task was completed we poured the juice and placed into an industrial sized barrel. We worked closely with the Professor who is very smart and prepped and stirred our wine and then it had to sit for several months. I don't want to take you step by step because that would ruin it for those of you that want to sign up to complete this fun task. You are 100% involved in the making of your wine from start to finish. Some of the best times are gathering with your friends, bringing wine to drink and good food to share while you are working on the creation of your wine. Grape Expectations provides a fun little room with tables and chairs for everyone to sit around and be social. Then you enter the giant warehouse setting and get to work. It is a great atmosphere and I learned a great deal. All the staff that work here including Mike, The Professor, Patty and Chad are super knowledgable, friendly and helpful. Don't be afraid to ask any questions as they love to wine chat. You can also see how much they enjoy what they do, they all have a passion for the business which makes your experience even better. We ended up making a half barrel which served up approximately 12 bottles per person. You are probably wondering if the wine turned out and was it good. The answer is yes! It was surprisingly very tasty and I also gave out some bottles as gifts. Would I do it again, in a minute! A great time to share with fellow wine lovers and educate yourself on this whole process.
