I had my brows done here by a student. They all scabbed off so I made a fuss and they've tried to fix them twice now and even with their best technician- they're as bad as ever. I WISH they stayed looking like in the last pictures but just a few weeks after those were taken they're back to pics 1 & 2. Either their ink is low quality or they have no idea what they're doing. I see all these people on the website with their brows done well but for me- they just can't seem to get it right. I'm so frustrated and angry with them. I said I'd pay for them and then they jumped to help me but I truly believe they should make this right. This has been 3 total ATTEMPTS (the first by the student, 2 by other staff) and my brows look like crap. I'd have gone back right away but with COVID didn't want to risk it. All I wanted was Microblading, but I get these mono color black shading in styles that just peel off. I had them done some years ago and it took the woman 1 TIME and they looked absolutely amazing. She used a dark brown, dark green, and taupe (all cool colors) for a 3D effect; true microblading. I just don't see how these people who say they're a school can't get mine right. It's your face- and face it, FACE IT PMT can't get it together. Why? Who knows.... but it sucks for me. That's what I know. And that's what you should know before going there. Also, since posting this review I got a very angry phone call from the owner. She didn't apologize or seem to care about me at all. She claims she asked me to come in and SHE would PERSONALLY do my brows but we've been through that. I've gone back twice now and both times she has pawned me off on another employee at the town office before COVID and then right during the beginning of daughter did them (after I brought the owner flowers, a gorgeous white bouquet) insisting he daughter would do the work after she promised that she herself would do the work. So, no, I'm NEVER coming back there. You've now ruined the skin on my brows so much I may not be able to Fox them for at least 3-6 months. If I don't sue you for malpractice you should be thanking your lucky stars. I've found someone I TRUST to do the work. I wouldn't come back to your salon with a 5 foot pole. And neither should you. Do not call me ever again demanding things, being angry, and rude. It's your mistakes, plural, that have created this situation. You should be ashamed. The pictures show the ruined state of them after the first & second work they did and the last pictures show the brow a bit after the last time they were done- there's so much trauma to the skin that the ink just peels off. The shape is horrible and I asked for MICROBLADING- not whatever they decided to do here. So scary. And so terrible. Don't let this be you. Aloha. I met Edine, the owner, years ago at a teacher's convention when she first started. Due to covid, I haven't been back. But, she is meticulous, down to earth and professional. Although her prices have increased from what I hear, Edine has always charged me the same price. She knows how to treat her customers! She has also educated me about pigment versus tattoo ink... pigment eventually fades but never changes color. Tattoo ink does. No offense but it's the blue eyeliner that you see on mostly older women. Originally, it was probably black or some dark color. If you decide to go to her salon, you will not be disappointed. You never get a second chance to make a good First Impression... A good friend told me (a long time ago) to look at myself in a photograph - it appeared that I had no facial expression because my eyebrows were very faint. At that time, I was an avid volleyball player, and try as I might to draw in eyebrows with a pencil, my perspiration and oily skin would melt off any makeup. Not one to waste time, money, and effort, I turned to permanent makeup. Yes, I had my eyebrows tatooed on 3 times already. Each time faded and was uncomfortable (swelling) as the healing (itching) process takes a while. This 4th time was done by Charnae - she is very good. Her patience, explanation, suggestions, and attention to detail all helped to make this a successful and good experience. Charnae even did my eyeliner. It includes a touch up 4 to 8 weeks later. (The eyebrows also include a touchup.) I had put off redoing the eyeliner for a long time because the first time I did it was very painful. This time wasn't so bad. We discussed thickness, color, shape, and length of the line - it turned out great! This Ward Avenue location is convenient with free parking. It's across the street from Sports Authority - just park in the lot for Super Cuts. Go upstairs and down the hall on the left. The Center is very clean and comfortable. You can watch tv for half an hour before the numbing agent takes effect for the eyebrows. The eyeliner can be done right away. I really appreciate Face It because they always managed to fit me into their busy schedule. When I decide on something, I usually have to do it right away before I change my mind or chicken out! Better late than never... I went to Face It last year to get my brows done. I've heard so many good things about Face It from different people, and the photos on their website looked really good, so I decided to check it out. Lucky for me, there was a Living Social Deal for them, so I pounced on that opportunity and scheduled my free consultation with them. Originally, I wanted to get my brows and eye liner done at the same time. Everyday drawing in my brows and eyeliner takes up so much time, this seemed like the opportune thing to do. My initial consultation was with Josalyn. She was very informative and eased my mind about doing this. I decided not to do my eye liner since I recently got Lasik, so I scheduled my session for my brows with her. She drew my brows perfectly and the shade (albeit dark at first) healed nicely and perfectly. When I went back for my followup, I decided that I wanted my brows a smidgen thicker. She let me know that parts of my brow wouldn't be as dark as the original session, and I was fine with that. I'm completely healed now, and totally love not having to start from scratch every morning. I still draw over my brows to make the shade a bit darker, but not having to shape it daily, saves me so much time. I'm planning on getting the lash enhancement from them next! I am so happy with my eyeliner that I decided to write my very first yelp review. To start I have wanted to get my eyeliner done for years but never made the time because of my working conditions and the after care involved with eyeliner. But I finally said forget it I'm doing it. I work on a construction jobsite and not in the office. I am a trades person. I would say tradesman but I'm a woman so that word would not apply to me. I completed the apprenticeship program and graduated from a trade. I wanted to be treated equally as the men so I couldn't see myself putting on make up everyday and having it smear and look like a racoon as I sweated through out the day. So micropigmentation make up was the only way I could look the way I wanted to at work without looking like I got dolled up for work. I had my first procedure done at the Aiea office and everything went great. They put the numbing cream on my eyes and played very relaxing music while I waiting for the cream to set. Edine then started on my eye liner and it was rather relaxing. It felt like vibrations on my eye lid. I felt very comfortable and it took maybe about an hour. After the procedure I was very comfortable and the healing process wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My eyes did get a little puffy but that only lasted about 4 days. I did end up losing about 60% of the ink. When I went back 7 weeks later my retouch was done at the Ward office. It was quick and painless. It has now been 14 days after my second procedure and I could not be happier with my results. So i have very thin eyebrow hair and have been wanting to get them done for awhile now. I finally went ahead with the procedure and got Powdered Brows, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. They not only save me time in the morning ( no longer needing to fill my brows in) but have really been a confidence boost. I do need to say that my technician was an artist. Shannen went over everything with me step by step, to assure I knew what I was signing up for and all the possibilities with the healing process (very important). Before coming to Face It Permanent Make Up Center, I had my brows microbladed by another technician. While I liked the results and lived with them for 3 years, I wasn't crazy about them and actually penciled over them most of the time. After doing some searching online, I found Face It and booked an appointment with Shannen. I loved the different options Face It offers when it comes to brows. Before my appointment I thought microblading was all that could be done. Shannen explained my options and I decided on powder brows. Shannen is very talented at what she does. I loved the way she shaped my brows and the color she chose for them and, having a visual art background, I am picky about shapes, lines, and colors. Also, Shannen made sure that I understood the process and was on board with all that she did. I would especially like to note that she put a lot of effort into getting the color of my brows right, which I greatly appreciated because I did not even know that color mattered before my appointment. I scheduled an appointment with Olivia for powder ombré brows. The scheduling was very easy and can made online now at the Ward location or Aiea location. Make sure to choose the correct location because they are moving in a few days. I traveled to Hawaii from Arizona to get my brows done by only the best. Upon walking in the shop I noticed it is immaculately clean and spotless. My micro pigmentation specialist, Olivia is incredibly knowledgeable and made me feel at ease immediately. She asked me what look I was trying to achieve and began to work her magic. She mapped out my brows and took her time to ensure they were just perfect and had me look at them for approval before we began the process. Man was I tired of having to draw in my hoorible Chinese sparse eyebrows everyday! I needed to get this fixed because as most girls know, your eyebrows can define your face! After doing some research, I found this place not only because it is convenient and in town, but it is Clean clean clean clean and all the technicians are certified! After seeing many positive reviews and portfolio before and after pics, I decided to come here. I was greeted and treated with such kindness by Bri, who is also technician here. I told Shannen and Edine my concerns for my brows and they helped me to choose a custom shade and shape based on my hair color, everyday look and whether I wanted them shaded or micro bladed. The shades are definitely overwhelming but gives everyone a unique opportunity to choose what works best for them. I ended up choosing a couple of darker brown shades that went on a gradient on my brows and as well as micro blading mixed with shading for shape. Edine and Shannen helped to draw my initial outline of my brows to ensure the shape was what I wanted. Then gave me this awesome topical gel that I sat with for 30min. this was to ensure I didn't feel pain during the procedure. Shannen spent a good 1hour to 1.5hours with me perfecting my brows and looking and making sure they were even! I didn't feel a thing! Super painless. Almost slept. I was of course a little nervous to start but she was so informative and told me what o expect and that if I wanted to get more numb I could get more numbing stuff. The weirdest part about the procedure was the super numb eyebrows! Such a weird feeling! After we were done, Shannen went over the shape with me to make sure I was happy; she explained the post op instructions (nothing super restrictive). What to expect after getting your eyebrows microbladed: peeling after 3-4days (total of 5-7 days) and a little bit of possible itchiness and redness/ swelling. Similar to getting a regular tattoo. I was happy when she told me that their products didn't have heavy metals in them (as I was breast feeding) and it was a concern. I have had friends come here and I'm so happy I chose this place. It was everything I expected and more. The decor, the people, the cleanliness, the price. All totally worth it! Will and have recommended this place to others. TIP: they also so other things beside brows: eyeliner, lips, make birth marks/moles and from reading other reviews, they do a lot of correction cases from people who have had a bad job done in the past. So for two years I followed this business and to my surprise they also now have a second location near Ward warehouse. I have no tattoo and so this was my very first experience and I was SCARED..... I highly recommend going to Face it. Years ago, I had my brows tattooed by someone who did a terrible job which left me with very large black brows. Unfortunately, as we all know it's very hard to correct a tattoo. Since this experience traumatized me, needless to say I waited 10 yrs to try to correct it. I went to a salon to get the tattoo lifted to make my brows thinner. This left me with white scar tissues above my brows, which looked really bad. I had to use makeup to conceal it everyday. I Finally did some research and went to Face It. Edine, who is also the owner, corrected both the color and symmetry of my brows. Today was my appointment for my re-touch which is included in the fees and I'm looking forward to be seeing the end result soon. Edine was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I've been a customer of Edine's for almost 10 years. I had my eyebrows and eyeliner done in 2007 with a refresher done in 2009. Both sessions gave amazing results! Fast forward 7 years to 2016 and just had my eyebrows touched up. I honestly didn't think I needed to but Edine encouraged me to come in and boy was she right. I didn't think she could out do herself but of course she did and I'm obsessed with my new eyebrows. They say "eyebrows are supposed to be sisters and not twins" but she got them to look exactly the same, which is what I wanted. The color is amaze-balls and I LOVE how she faded them to be lighter towards the center. And I didn't feel any pain because her topical anesthetic was fantastic as usual but going to her for years I already knew that wasn't going to be an issue. The bad reviews on here just reminds me that in today's society we want instant results while only listening halfway. The consultation clearly explains ~in summary~ that the first application is setting the foundation and then the second session (included in the price mind you) is where everything is FINE TUNED and any concerns you have are addressed. You can't rush something like this and it's obviously better to do "Not Enough" the 1st time and fill in during the 2nd rather then the opposite. ALSO, it is IMPERATIVE that you follow the after care instructions precisely (refraining from excessive sweating, not getting it wet, avoiding sunlight, etc.) for at least a week after the procedure as it is CRITICAL in determining how much of the minerals stay in your skin during the "healing phase". Remember the procedure uses a needle to embed the product into your skin and not following the after care instructions will cause the product to leech out of your skin until it heals, thus lighter than expected or blotchy results. ALSO ALSO, you should be careful about the kind of products you use on the application area (astringents, toners, skin lighteners or other harsh chemicals). These should definitely NOT be used a few weeks after your procedure and if possible anytime after that. It could cause premature fading of the product...for obvious reasons. These so very important to your overall results and beyond Edine giving you the written after care instructions, she has no control over how you apply that once you leave the salon. ALSO ALSO ALSO sure there are cheaper salons out there, but BUYER BEWARE!!! 1) you get what you pay for and 2) Edine has certifications on top of certifications and she takes refresher courses so you're in good hands, 3) rest assured that she uses a mineral based product where it is a "hit or miss" game with other salons using tattoo ink so it's a luck of the draw if your cheap, fast, single shot application (yes get it while it's hot) will turn green or blue in a year o_0 or god forbid you get what they call "BLUING" where they get too deep into the skin (standard with a tattoo gun vs. permanent makeup pen) and the tattoo ink gets INTO THE BLOOD STREAM and ~~get ready for this~~ STAINS A BLUE/GREEN SHADOW UNDER THE SKIN IN THE WORK AREA. Unless you're into the permanent black eye look, then BOOM KANANI BOBS YOUR UNCLE!! Go for it, just Google, "cheapest permanent makeup Hawaii". If anyone does have concerns about your results, please put your big girl pannies on and make the appointment to talk to Edine. She won't get offended or butt hurt if you ask her to tweek this or that. Microblading became a "thing" in the permanent make-up world a couple years ago in Hawaii and I've seen a A LOT of work I DO NOT like and some that was just "ok". My BF was tired of listening to me go back and forth so he scheduled a consultation with Shannen. Super skeptical, I researched this place and their techs for about 3 weeks before my appointment. I mean, c'mon now, its a tattoo... on your FACE... if they screw up- you gotta live with that! And if this was gonna be my first tattoo ever (on my face), they better be good! Immediately after my consult with Shannen, I decided to do my brows that day and I couldn't be happier. Shannen is very professional. She is also very knowledgable and skilled in her field. She teaches classes at the center and attends conferences to keep her skill and techniques up to date. Hello everyone, I've been putting this review off for some time because, well I don't like giving bad reviews but every time I see my face I feel like I'm keeping someone else from making a poor choice by not saying anything. I paid $400 to have my eyeliner done, I don't remember the name of the girl who did it but I do remember her telling me that she used to work at a dentist office before she took her classes from Face it and started working there. She seemed to be very confident that she could do my eyeliner evenly so I went with her even tho for whatever reason she was cheaper than the other girl by $100. She took forever trying to make the eyeliner match, finally she said it was because the pencil was too thick but that when she used the tattoo needle they would match. She promised me it would be perfect and I had nothing to worry about. I was already scared because I had gotten tattooed in San Diego and the lady who did my eyeliner left it looking awful. One was thicker, the other was longer, it was a mess! So this time I was scared to death because I didn't want to end up having two huge thick lines that didn't even match. I went home and noticed that they were a bit off, not as bad as they used to be but still not matching. I called them up and she said that she would take care of any imperfections when I came in next time. She said that because of the swelling while doing the tattoo the first time around it wouldn't come out like the second pass, where then she would make them match. So I went in for my second treatment and once again she couldn't pencil them in to match before the tattoo. I went home knowing that they weren't the same, I had planned that I would call them and tell them about the situation and ask them to give me someone else because the girl who I had didn't know what she was doing and my liner was just getting thicker and thicker and not only that but a chunk came right off while I was sleeping so there's a spot with no tattoo at all. Well I called and I called over and over, I can't remember how many voice mails I left them and yet no one would call me back or answer the phone. I see the owner has many good reviews on her but I feel that if you are going to have other people working for you they better be just as good or at least good enough to the point they can pencil in eyeliner to be symmetrical and not give excuses as to why they can't do it. I also think that if they do a poor job they should be taken back to doing the classes and not leave them to keep working on the faces of people who not only are paying for this treatment but who pride themselves in looking their best when they step out into the world.
