The problem with this store is that the experience can be great or awful, depending on which employee you happen to get. One of the cashiers is particularly unfriendly and low-key bossy. She never asks if we doing ok, or if we found everything we wanted. Today I bought a 4-pack of beer without realizing it was $39 (!!!), and so I went back to return it. She was completely unhelpful, and even told me that I was looking at the wrong price line (I wasn't). I asked her to give the receipt back to my wife, but she didn't. I asked again for the receipt, and grasped it, but she wouldn't let go. I finally pulled the receipt from her hand, and she started yelling at me for "snatching it" from her. I told her that the receipt is my property, not hers. I asked her to call a manage, but she didn't. I walked around and found another emoloyee and had them call a manager. The manager was great, and handled the return easily. That cashier lady needs a different job. read more

UPDATE: I've been a regular shopper at this Liquor Barn for a couple years now. Many of the employees and managers have seen me many times before. I recently had a terrible experience with the manager on duty being ridiculous about carding and asking questions I didn't think were even legal. It was incredibly rude and I'm very disappointed in their staff. Perhaps they've had a lot of issues with underage purchasers recently but nothing Id done while shopping was suspicious and I felt extremely uncomfortable after leaving. I will likely never shop here again. Quite a disappointment but there are plenty of other liquor stores in town with better prices and kinder management. Also- if you're going to be absolutely anal about carding anyone who enters the store, card them at the entrance! Whew. Liquor Barn and I have gotten very close during our recent short term living in Bowling Green. They have fairly good prices and an amazing selection of bourbons! The main draw for us to go is their bourbon releases. Get on their email list if you're looking for some Wellers or limited release bourbons. Wellers is impossible to find ANYWHERE and we have managed to get a few bottles from Liquor Barn. They'll email you a day or two before the release, and depending on what's being released, a line will start forming outside the door as early as 2am (!!!!). I'd definitely get there before 6 am, 5 or 5:30 might be the best without ruining a night of sleep. It really just depends on how much you want that bourbon! The employees have always been kind and helpful. We realized recently that there are some similar stores in Louisville (not liquor barns) that have the absolute best prices, so we've cut down on visits to this liquor barn in efforts to save some money. The liquor barn is quite an experience for anyone who enjoys alcoholic beverages. The location is a bit odd and if you're not from the area, could be slightly tricky to locate - however once you see the sign it's super easy! Also, make sure not to confuse this with the Boot Barn which is very close by The store is MASSIVE and could be overwhelming if you're not mentally prepared. Great selection of products and assorted party fixings with an entire section dedicated to charcuterie accoutrements. Some of their prices are higher than other liquor stores for the same product but it's worth it to get everything you need in one trip. Prob the best liquor store in Bowling green. They have great prices. They will match any competitors price in the state. They have the largest selection of wines I have seen in KY so far. I have been here a few times. The only thing. Is with the grey goose. The biggest they had was 1.75 bottle. I wanted a bigger bottle for a party I was going to. But. It's not every day people but bigger than 1.75. The staff is nice and helpful. They offer beer tastings at the center bar area inside. I will note one thing. They ID you coming into the store. As the name suggests, it is a barn (more like a warehouse) stocked to the brim with all the essential wine, beer, and spirits. Sadly, I can't believe I'm just now discovering this place, but yay for me because I'll continue to go here for my beers. I'm surprised by their selection of craft beers and was blown away that they carried by beloved Hop Nosh IPA - I can't find this beer anywhere! This place also carries an assortment of cheeses, crackers, breads, and other accouterments to compliment your tasty beverage. But today our cashier with pink and blue hair was very rude, asked us very gruffly to get a box and pack our own stuff no please or even eye contact. While in KY wife was asked by a coworker to see if they had a special type of bourbon. Made a call, and the helpful staff checked it out and they did. Drove over a few minutes later and got the staff to show where it was. Went to buy and the staff said they did not know if it was any good to drink, but they did buy their own bottle as part of a collection of specialties. Was surprised to see a fully operating beer drinking "station" in the middle of the facility. Being from PA this is too weird. We were traveling from Nashville to Ohio and was told about the Liquor Barn to get Ky Bourbon. Since we moved to Texas 11 years ago from Cincy it is hard to get Buffalo. I was very impressed with this business, they had everything but Buffalo Trace. They have every from bourbon, whiskey, tequila, vodka. a huge wine selection, craft beer, beer, hard seltzer, flavored moonshine, moonshine cocktails and whatever you need to make mixed drinks/cocktails. Some of the bitters and specialty items I have never seen before. They have meats, cheese, homemade soda and fruit juices for cocktails. They even had drink glasses and serving plates and some really fun things like ice pops you freeze that had alcohol in it. They had a great humidor with some really nice cigars. You should stop in and see what Liquor Barn has in stock, they were out of anything Buffalo Trace. You will be like a kid in a candy store looking at everything. Everyone had masks on and practiced social distancing. They had the floor marked off for standing 6 feet from other customers and I felt very safe there with the pandemic still going on. The store was spotless and so was the restroom, they even had the hand sanitizer just as you open the door to exit so you could use the hand sanitizer after you touched the door! read more

Stopped at "the barn" to kill a little time and have a look around. It is similar looking to the stores they have in Lexington, and Louisville. The bourbons are near the front entrance, and they have a very very large selection with great prices. There were large displays of Flatboat bourbon, (and Flatboat bourbon cream). The Flatboat bourbon is Liquor Barn's privately selected bourbon, which is made by Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown. Everyone here knows their stuff. Anytime I've asked for a recommendation, they've been sincere and given true help which is refreshing since so many other stores will point you towards their most expensive bottles just trying to make a sale. I also appreciate the fact that they card everyone who walks in the door, not just the person making the purchase. They have everything you need, where you need it. Buying a glass of wine to go with dinner? They've got a variety of pastas near by, as well as gourmet chocolates. Yummy! Typing all this has made me realize the hubs and I need a date night. Talk about a liquor BARN! This place has just about every type of liquor you could want. Lots of different types & brands. When you walk in make sure you grab one of the wheelie baskets because you'll need it. They run sales on different items & sometimes they're great & other times they're just okay. A few of the man items, like Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Smirnoff Vodka are cheaper at Sams Club liquor. The main reason to shop here is the variety & selection they have. I think they have classes in the back because I noticed a room & a sign about some type of wine class. Note: everyone that leaves the store gets carded if there is a purchase being made. Great shop in Bowling Green. We stopped in, as we had heard that they had some good unique Bourbons. What a delight! Met with the store manager and had a 30 minute in depth conversation about our favorite single barrel bourbons. He knew his stuff and also had several very cool single barrel selections. We bought a SIngle Barrel Cask Strength Four Roses, A Single Barrel Woodford Double Oaked, and a Single Barrel Russel's Reserve. But when I got to my car, I realized that a few bottles weren't discounted. I figured it was an honest computer error and went back inside to check. Person before me looks 16, cashier joked with her and didn't card her cause his "buddy" vouched for her. Wow, risky move considering the business has a strict id requirement. My turn at the register, and both my 40 yr old self and wife were made to show our id. Wife had to walk to the car to get her id just because she was standing next to me as I bought beer... Went in really close to their closing time. I was immediately greeted and shown where to get the liquor I was looking for. I just turned 21 a couple weeks before and had never been in a liquor store, let alone a barn. When I checked out the girl told me my total and my look had to say it all because she looked at the money I had in my hand and it didn't come to what the total was. When I told her I thought it was on sale because of a sign she didn't even question me. She asked me what I thought the price said and she rang it up that way. Down to the cent I told her.
