I am sorry to have to write this review, but I can, in no way, shop or support Cocomo Confections any longer due to their disservice to me at Christmas. I ordered a Boston Cream Cake for my son's birthday from you on December 13, 2024. I told you his birthday was on December 24th, but we were not celebrating until the evening of the 26th with all of our family. We agreed upon me picking up the cake on the 26th at 2:00. I wrote the date on my calendar and told my husband I might need him to pick up the cake for me that day as it would be a very busy day. I paid them $84.68 by credit card, on December 13th. On December 24, I was at an appointment and received a voicemail message from Cocomo saying that you were going to close, and I needed to pick up my cake. My phone recorded the call coming into me at 2:17 pm. I did not listen to the message until after 4:00 pm due to an appointment. I tried to call them back immediately, but of course, they were closed. I was not too concerned as I knew I was supposed to pick up my cake after Christmas on the 26th. A little afternoon on Christmas Day, my son called me from his work and asked me if I had ordered him a Boston Cream Cake for his birthday. It was a surprise, so I asked him how he knew about it. He said a lady he worked with had called him and sent him a picture of a cake with his name on it. She had stopped by Cocomos to pick up a cake she had ordered for her Christmas dessert. When she opened the box, my son's birthday cake was in it instead of the cake she ordered! She had paid for the cake again! He told her to enjoy it as we obviously would not be getting to, and she would not have a dessert without it either. He sent me pictures and it was the cake I had ordered. I tried to call them again on the 26th, multiple times and no answer. I even drove over to their shop, and it was closed. I tried so many times to call them after that date, but no one has ever answered. I finally got through one time and left a lengthy message and asked them to call me back, but they did not. On the last day of December, we had a close family member die, and we were involved in the aftermath of that for a couple of weeks. I was not able to follow-up during this time period. When I still had not heard from the business, I wrote a letter to the owner of the business. That was almost three weeks ago, and I have not heard from her, either. So, my only recourse at this point is to write a review on the major sites on social media and consider small claims court. I have lived in this community most of my life. I have always supported small businesses, but I can't condone this kind of treatment, and I don't want others in our community to do so, either. I had asked for my money back. If this had happened, I would have been happy and written it off as a mistake. But when a business or owner will not even answer letters written directly to them, or call me back after leaving a lengthy message, that tells me they are only interested in the $84.68 that they received from me and not me as a customer. Plus, they scammed the other lady for my cake, too. My advice is to be careful of this business if you use them. They like your money more than they like you. My family and extended family will not be using them again. I would like to give them a "0" rating, but "1" appears to be as low as possible. read more

Not as good since the original owner sold the place. The original owner did not cut corners. Her cakes were always moist with lots of extra icing. The last two cakes we got a very dry and the icing was cut by a 1/4. read more

OMG! I am super jealous that BG has such a great bakery. We stopped here after lunch for cake, because every day is better when there is cake involved. It seems that the strawberry cake is the best seller BUT the coconut cake is where it is at. Seriously, I am still dreaming about that cake! It is the best coconut cake I have ever had in my life. Great business! I had been trying to place and order over email and with the challenges of it being out of state, I did not know how I was going to execute this. Austin has been extremely helpful to me and working with me for the past few days to get this order done and delivered for my boyfriend and made it happen. Outstanding service. My wife said they had the best Coconut Cake she has ever had and they had the best strawberry cake I've ever had as well. My daughter didn't rate it as the best but she said the cake she got was very good (she didn't share so I don't remember what she picked). We live a good ways away but have started thinking about road trips that include this place along the path. I have had their chocolates several times. The chocolate and the assortment of sweet treats are fantastic!! Today I purchased my child a birthday cake from there...Oreo cake. The description "made with lots of the cookie" made this cake sounds wonderful & we wanted "better than store bought taste". We all where highly disappointed. None of us tasted the "Oreos". The layers were dry and extremely flat. The tons of icing made it to where you didn't even taste the cake and way too sweet. The cake was pretty.. but that was about it for us. Pretty much 35$ down the drain. I like everything else about this place... just will never buy another cake. read more

I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter. I spelled her name for the gentleman. $47 strawberry cake and her name was misspelled. I should have unwrapped all the cellophane on it when I picked it up, so that was my mistake. The cake was good but way too expensive plus the misspelling. Wow! Just wow! My regular chocolate store switched locations and haven't opened yet. Thank God! I found this place because my normal place wasn't open, and I couldn't be happier. I bought a box of mixed chocolates (1 pound for about $21), candy buttons (pre-fab from my childhood), a piece of Key Lime Pie, a piece of Almond Pastry, a Pecan Pie Bar (my favorite), Carmel Corn, and three different types of fudge (peanut butter, salted Carmel, and praline). They have lots of different fudge choices. This place is wonderful. There was a younger girl working and an older gentleman. Both were very nice and quick. I asked the older man if this was his shop and he said it was his wife's. I love it even more knowing it's run and operated by such nice people and they actually work there!!!! I highly recommend! I didn't try any of the sandwiches, but next time I will... I just tried the Capicolla Ham Panini, and it's tasty! I got the meal with a pop and chips. Definitely my favorite bakery in town! Cakes are never dry and always taste amazing. Personal favorites include the strawberry and coconut cake but recently went in to design a cake and it came out perfect! Please" don't make the mistake we made - find another bakery. What they define as 'gourmet' is subjective. Extreme addition of flavorings made it inedible. If you have a special event entrust it to someone else. Additionally, customer service is non existent. This bakery could not care less. This review in not limited to their baked items. Confectionery is sub par for the cost. Chocolate very hard and poor quality. Plenty of bakeries in Bowling Green, KY. Choose one of those instead. read more

I ordered a special cake for my sister's 75th birthday and went to Cocomo bakery as a suggestion from my friend. I picked out a cake that I liked and showed them that the one that I liked had the chocolate ganache topping and I ordered half a sheet to feed several people and I made the mistake of not looking at it when I picked it up. First, it had no chocolate ganache on the top and second the salutations in writing on the white cake with black inside, looked like it had been written by a first grader. Several people complained about the cake being dry, but they like the icing . I complained in person because their phone on the website didn't work, and they offered me nothing to satisfy me. Needless to say I will not be going to this supposedly gourmet bakery again and I ask people to be careful because they will not necessarily get what they ordered. I called Cocomo Confections to place an advance order for a pie. However, when I went to pick up the pie, the staff member told me that the pie had already been given away to another customer before I arrived. The staff member then called the customer who purchased the pie and asked him to bring the pie back to the store. I would NOT accept a pie that had already been taken home by another customer and then brought back to the store (and this is during the pandemic!). Granted, I did arrive one hour later than I had originally specified for the pickup time. However, the store had my phone number, so they could have easily called me before giving the pie away to someone else. The staff member should have offered a replacement item at a reduced price to make up for the inconvenience, but this didn't happen. Riley's Bakery or The Cake Shop in Bowling Green have better customer service. read more

At last the "shop girl" said hello, but alas the ensuing conversation was not a positive experience. I enquired about a special order I was hoping to have them prepare for me, but was shot down preemptively, with "it would be too much trouble and too expensive". Gee, you might have quoted me a price before deciding that your work is "too expensive". I left without a happy feeling. The takeaway? If you want to select from what they have in the counter, go ahead. If you are planning a party and want to have something special made, find a different shop. I won't go back to Cocomo's. read more

Holy Moly! I bought a coconut cake there yesterday for my husband's birthday and it was delicious! Beautiful cake too! Wonderful flavour, light and fluffy cake layers and the icing was to die for. Keep doing what you are doing guys! While I was waiting the few minutes while they boxed the cake, I perused the other confectionery delights to be had, they have so much yummy things, it's probably a good thing I was on a time crunch! My coworkers treated me to a wonderful German Chocolate cake from Cocomo. I can honestly say that I've not had better. The frosting is decadent and rich. You can taste the generous amount of cocoa they put in the chocolate frosting. The cake is moist and stays in tact--not dry and crumbly like some other places. You simply won't find better in Bowling Green. read more

This place is absolutely the best. The owners are so incredibly nice and the cakes are AMAZING! Twice i have purchased a cake with a short notice and they have twice been the hit of the party. For Mother's Day I asked around and was told that the best place to get cake was at Cocomo's. I called about a week before Mother's day and asked if they were able to make a small carrot cake by Saturday. They were very friendly and said that they would have it ready by then. Fast-forward to Saturday and I go into a small, but quite lovely place to pick up the order which was ready when I got there. The man that was there was very kind and showed me the cake which was very cute! A man came in after me and said that he was charged twice for something he paid for and the man was very polite when taking care of the customer and making sure that the man received part of his refund. When I surprised my mom with the cake today she absolutely loved it! I would say that there was a bit too much frosting, but neither me or my mom are frosting lovers. I originally stumbled on this place trying to go to find the restaurant on the other end of the shopping center because I had heard about chicken sandwiches they had only on Thursdays. (I found out it was on the other end later on) stumbling upon this place was one of the best finds I have found in a long time. The food is great and the people are always so friendly. So walking in we thought this looking like a really nice place. We placed our order and the person taking the order only rung up half of the order. OK, simple oversight, let's move on. After placing our order we were told that the total we six dollars more than it was, but the counter person swiped our card anyway and said, "Oh, I guess I owe you six dollars now. I'll give it to you later." Then our food was ready and we had to ask for the drink that came with our daughter's kid's meal then had to ask again for the chocolate that comes with the kid's meal. OK, strike three, but we're moving on. When I asked for the chocolate the person behind the counter reached into a bowl and flung a small bag at me like I had some kind of problem asking for what comes with the meal. I then had to ask for the chips that come with my meal.....getting old by this point. So now for the food. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and it was just some chicken salad on two pieces of bread. No presentation at all. After tasting this extravaganza that cost me six dollars (for a small sandwich and a bag of vending machine chips), I was horrified. There was absolutely no taste to it......soooooo bland. Chocolate.....no need for endless adjectives here, simply tasted like a cheap dollar store piece of chocolate. Just plain bad! So now it's time to go and I had to once again ask for the difference between what I owed and what I paid.....again. I'm just not sure what has happened to customer service these days.....just leaves a lot to be desired in this case for sure. And the over priced menu is something best left alone. read more

We have been here twice now and had 2 totally different experiences. The first visit was great. Loved the chocolates and the variety. Went again tonight and tried a cake for dessert and it was awful. It was dry and stale. Almost tasted like cornbread. First visit was a 5 star but tonight was a 1. Averaged the experiences to a 3 but probably won't be back again for dessert. This little chocolate and dessert shop is amazing! My grandfather was a baker, and owned his bakery his entire life, in Chicago. He made the best chocolate eclairs, and cream puffs imaginable! Since he passed on, and I moved south, I never have had a 'real' eclair anywhere down south. I mean a genuine pastry, (not doughnut dough) filled with homemade custard, and then topped off with a real satiny smooth chocolate! Now thats an eclair! The only difference in my grandfathers' eclaires and Cocomos, are the size of the pastry. The eclaires I grew up with were considerably smaller in size than Cocomos eclaires, but they taste almost exactly the same- they are delicious! Cocomos makes them often, and with a large family, I practically clean them out when they do! It reminds me of my childhood, and it just takes me home for a bit! Thank you Cocomos! read more
