While in Murfreesboro on business, a couple of my peers wanted a cigar after dinner at The Alley. We had driven past Liquid Smoke the day before, so we headed there. LOL... The crowd was much younger than us guys in suits, but we had a great time. We had some interesting interactions with a few customers. Most of the time, only larger cities can support a cigar lounge, so we are fortunate in Murfreesboro to have a place like Liquid Smoke. They have a good selection of cigars, properly stored in two humidors. The main humidor is for standard cigars and the smaller is for flavored cigars. Decent beer selection including Fat Tire, Yazoo and other microbrews. The barman can help you with both selecting a cigar and selecting a beer. Atmosphere is cool and laid back. There is a bar and lounge chairs, depending on your mood. No live music the night I was there, but there's hip background music on the stereo. The men's restroom is something worth checking out. My little camera could not do it justice. The fish in the fish tank are cool, the sink is one of a kind. Well, maybe not but I've never seen one like that. Anyway, if you are at Blue Rooster or just in the mood for some hookah or cigar action, check it out. It's worth it. read more

This is one of my favorite places in Murfreesboro to get a beer! My buddies and I went to The Humidor right next door to Liquid Smoke, grabbed some cigars, then went to Liquid Smoke to grab a few beers after work. We were greeted with great customer service and great drink options. They have beer options that a lot of other bars in Murfreesboro don't offer. We were able to come in, relax, smoke our cigars, and drink our beers. They also have games inside if you like to play games while you drink. The place has an awesome vibe to it. Liquid Smoke is very welcoming. I am also glad that they allowed me to vlog while I was in there. I will be returning for sure. read more

Great experience at Liquid Smoke! We picked up a cigar from next door, and Gavin gave us great recommendations on beer. We thoroughly enjoyed 1 pale ale and 1 IPA each--delicious brews. The atmosphere was very welcoming, and we made friends with other customers while hanging out here. This is where we went after dinner at The Green Dragon. The cigar store next door was closed but never fear they do have a selection of 20-30 cigars to choose from here and Steve was very helpful. The atmosphere here is very casual, there are 3 pinball machines in the back right but only one was functional at the time of our visit. There were TONS of games & there is outdoor and indoor seating. The indoor seating consists of bar stools, tables and chairs or couches. The restroom is a large gender neutral one (with a mirror across from the toilet ewwww). It is a great place to go have a cigar, a beer and relax. We had no trouble hearing each other talk and met some nice people while we were there. Only negatives: bathroom mirror OBVIOUSLY, close at midnight, only serves beer. When I lived in Murfreesboro, we hit this place almost every week. Walking into this bar is like stepping into a Quentin Tarantino movie - the place is funky, relaxed and off the wall. It's narrow like a Bourbon St bar, dark and smoky with local art on the walls and big squishy chairs to get lost in. The bands they get in their are always unique and they never have the same style twice in a row. Not many beers on tap, but they are always good beers. They keep one tap regularly rotating, so you get something new every time. The bottled selection is pretty large, so plenty to choose from there! Not a beer drinker? Too bad, the only other beverage they have is Woodchuck. As one reviewer mentioned, the humidor has been moved into the establishment next door, The Humidor. The place seems so big and empty now that the hulking humidor is gone, but it did do wonders for improving the crowd around the bar. They still sell some cigars in the bar, but for a wider selection you need to go next door. Is the Humidor closed? Then you should rent out one of their private humidors that are installed near the back. They are accessible from both the Humidor and Liquid Smoke, making cigar storage pretty darn convenient. Not into cigars? Rent a hookah! Split between a few people, the cost is pretty affordable and provides a fun centerpiece for the evening. They have lots of flavors to choose from, and will combine them if asked. And what review of the Liquid Smoke would be complete without mentioning the bathroom? I've seen people stop by just to see if the rumors are true. And yes, they are. Liquid Smoke has one of the most unique bathrooms in the 'Boro. Since I first moved here, they remodeled it to make it a bit more chic, but it's still funky as ever. Gotta love the fish tank. read more

This is an interesting cigar and hookah lounge just outside Nashville, Tennessee, offering Drew Estates, Arturo Fuente, Bird Dog and CAO cigars, as well as several shish flavors for hookahs. This lounge also has an extensive beer list, including Atlantic Brewing Co., Black Sheep, Spaten, Flying Dog and Redhook. Miller, Budweiser and Corona are also available. You can also get a frequent-flyer pamphlet (of sorts), which lets you check off each beer or cigar that you try from their list. This lounge has amazing decor and features what has to be the most elaborately decorated men's restroom that I have ever seen, including private residences! The restroom is ordained in faux jewels, has a chandelier, a large couch and some very interesting, area specific pieces of art. Everyone that originally recommended this place to me stated that you "have to check out the bathroom", haha. One of the most appealing aspects to this lounge is the never ending parade of great live music. On any given night you can hear local performers and wannabes from around the country performing everything from country, to sawgrass, to folk, to alternative. It is such an intimate venue too for up and coming artists to play and the atmosphere is always buzzing! The drinks are great and they have a HUGE humidor, if you are the cigar smoking type (which I am not)...though I did partake in a hookah there and it was not so bad. The bartenders and waitstaff are helpful and very friendly. Whether you are native to the Nashville area, or just passing through as I do from time to time, you will love Liquid Smoke! read more

I came here with my husband and a friend Friday night to see a local band, Rhythm Kitchen, play. I knew that it was going to be smoky since it's a cigar bar and I'm not an idiot, but what I did not anticipate was the complete lack of give-a-shit with regard to their customers' ability to breathe. There was only one functioning fan in the place, and as soon as we walked in I felt my lungs flip me a double bird as they closed up shop. We were there for less than an hour, but I had to go outside to get fresh air multiple times. Rhythm Kitchen came on and they were good--I mean, really, really good--but I started to feel like I was going to throw up from all of the smoke. Thick, heavy, sweet smoke swirling together above me from cigar after cigar, plus a few cigarettes mixed in. I didn't even see that many people smoking while we were in there; it was like all of the smoke that had ever been created in the place had never dissipated. It hung there all around us like a smoky blanket, just waiting to be breathed. Obviously a cigar bar is going to be smoky, but I don't think it's too much to expect some sort of ventilation system that involves more than one wobbly ceiling fan and a prayer to St. Bernardino of Siena, the patron saint of lungs. The two stars are for the excellent beer selection (and price) as well as the amazing bathroom. I tried to be irritated that they took enough space for two good-sized bathrooms and made it into one, but that one is so ridiculously over-the-top awesome I can't complain. It's like the Las Vegas of bar bathrooms: There is a fish tank in the wall, space for two or three people to sit around and lounge while you take a whiz, and a beautiful modern sink with plenty of paper towels. If there hadn't been 10 people waiting in line behind me I would've hung out in there with the fish, hiding from the oppressive smoke blanket, until the band I was there to see came on. read more

Came out to liquid smoke on Veterans Day to have a few beers with my brother. I was in my dress uniform, immediately I got a bad vibe about this place. Everyone stared at me like I was lost. No greeting what so ever. We sit down for five minutes, three of the bartenders help other customers but didn't even ask us if we wanted a beer menu or to order any brews. After a couple of minutes I got up to ask the bartender for a menu. I sit back down waited another ten minutes, still no service from the bartenders. Clearly we felt unwelcome there so we left the bar. It is sad that a service member like myself gets treated indifferently. I am a regular person like anyone else. The customer service sucked and establishment smelled like a ashtray. I don't see how this place is still open. But you can be assured, I will never set foot in that place again. read more

Liquid Smoke is married to the Humidor cigar shop next door, where you can buy an assortment of cigars and tabacco. The bar itself is many things, smokey, grungy, unique and relaxed. The walls are covered in old advertisements and classic cigar lounge garb. There are tons of special import beers as well as domestics available. On a weeknight this place isn't normally packed and the bar tender is easy going. I've only been a few times but I highly suggest it if you want an easy going place to enjoy special brews, a cigar and conversation. I also here there is live music on some nights. This is a great place to grab a drink with friends and have a smoke. And it is a smoking bar, so please do not think there is anywhere where it does not smell like smoke. This is the greatest beer bar in town if you want to relax with friends. Smoking is allowed, if course but they keep the air moving so even nonsmokers like me feel comfortable here. Great selection of local brews on tap and an amazing bottle selection. Music is never to loud to inhibit conversation and the bartenders are friendly. read more

Closest thing we're ever going to get to having a real pub in this town. You gotta put up with the TV being on. (sigh). whatever. If you're looking to be in that scene from "Good Will Hunting" where Will gets into an argument with a college student regurgitating what his college proffessor brainwashed him/her with earlier that day then this is the place for you. I would highly advise you to go early, avoid the patchouli rush and enjoy the place for it's quiet ambiance. The beers are top notch for this town. Cannot beat the selection and price. You can smoke in there which is nice for us smokers. So, in short, go early and enjoy yourself. Go late if you wanna be shoulder to shoulder with everyone in the bar. Can't blame them for doing great business and being popular. Oh, and they always have weird music going on (at least they have when I've been there). Not a bad place at all. read more
